On the first day, Yeon Yujun waters the plant.
He'd said he would and so he does — stops by Seo Hwigeon's apartment in the morning, knocks twice, gets let in, fills a cup in the kitchen, waters the plant on the windowsill. The whole thing takes four minutes.
Seo Hwigeon watches from the doorway of the other room with a cup of coffee but he doesn't say anything yet.
"It's putting out a new leaf," Yeon Yujun says, looking at the plant.
"Hm, is it?"
"The small one, bottom left." He sets the cup down. "It's going to be fine."
"You said that before though."
"I was right before." He turns around. "Are you going to offer me coffee or just watch?"
Seo Hwigeon goes back to the kitchen without commenting.
Yeon Yujun sits at the small table and looks at the city and thinks about Yang Semyon somewhere in Song Dohyun's orbit, moving carefully, looking for a location that's been kept hidden for years.
'He's good at this,' he thinks. 'Semyon-ah. Better than he lets on.'
