Chapter 11 - A Pit of Vengeance

Houser's eyes sharpened, and he looked at the old man. "Where is she?"

The old man looked a bit confused too, but he saw the traces of blood on the ledge and immediately formed an explanation.

"She must've been taken by wild beasts," he said. "You can keep questioning me, but give back the land, or else I'll make a report."

Houser scoffed. "It's already in my name anyway," he said. "I only came here to be polite."

The old man, Anghit, laughed. "Polite? It's more like you feel threatened.

"Anyway, I want my land back! I blame you for everything, and you should compensate me for my waste of time!

"You said you'd give me an obedient one, but look at this!" The old man yelled while pointing at his face, which had a large, fresh wound on it. "I need compensation!"

"You killed my daughter!"

Houser really couldn't stand this bastard's audacity. He wasn't the one who MURDERED someone!

Anghit didn't seem to feel any remorse at all. In fact, he was looking at Houser like he was a fool.

"Like I said, if she had been obedient, she wouldn't have died so soon! You lied to me! So…if you don't want to return the land, then you'd better pay for it in full!"

"WHAT?!"

The old man cackled at his expression. "I know you can afford it. You were just so stingy you decided to sell your daughter instead."

The blood on Houser's already pale face drained even more. "You—" At the back of his mind, he wondered if he could get away with murder?

The old man Anghit could sense murderous intent when he saw one. He scoffed.

"REMEMBER: If you make moves against me, I can make a lot more moves against you!" he smiled. "In fact, if anything were to happen to me, people are sure to come after you!"

"Even if you attack me now, I will make sure to pull you down with me!"

Naia watched all this with interest, and his words inspired an idea in her mind, but she pushed it aside for now.

There was a palpable tension between the two scumbags, with the younger scumbag eventually giving way.

Houser cursed, muttering about how useless Nadia was, that she couldn't even live a night.

"I'LL BUY IT! I'LL BUY IT!" he spat, taking out his phone to make a digital transfer.

Obviously, that property was very important to him. It made Naia quite curious about it.

Unexpectedly, the old man scoffed at him.

"The price increased to one hundred million danas now," he said, causing the other to whip his head to face him with a pale face.

"WHAT?"

"Land value increases, especially when the other side has no cards anymore," the old man said, very confidently, and she could almost see the veins popping out of the man's neck.

With how he was dragging Houser around, one would think the old man was the businessman instead of the latter.

"Buy or not? It's your choice."

Naia could hear the man's teeth gritting from where she was. "...fine!" he breathed out, acting like he was giving out his own organs.

Naia sneered. Selling one's daughter was already unthinkable, but selling her when he could actually afford to pay money instead was a different level of evil.

When Naia thought that the bastard's blood ran in her veins, she was tempted to drain it.

The two exchanged money, with Nadia's father transferring the amount to the old man's phone. There was obviously no error in the transfer, based on how the old man was smiling.

Naia also saw how dark Houser's eyes were. If it hadn't been for the old man's earlier threat, she was sure that Houser would've pushed the old man over the cliff by now.

Anyway, he did not want to stay there for another second, and he stomped to his car. Watching him go, Naia felt intense hate come out of her heart. She wondered if it was Nadia's feelings or hers, perhaps a combination of both.

She did not kill the sperm donor yet. She had planned to make his life more miserable. For now, she had ways to fleece him first.

Besides…she paused, her eyes fixed on the old man's phone.

She had something to make both of their lives difficult right there.

The old man headed to his house with light steps and a wide, creepy grin on his face.

"What a fool," he said, laughing as he headed in. Unexpectedly, before he could close the door, a dainty hand grabbed the back of his head and then slammed him straight to the floor.

BAM!

"W-Wha—"

He struggled but to no avail. Somehow, he could feel that a painful weight had landed on his body, as if he was being stepped on. He tried to push his head up, at least to see what was going on.

"Hey," a feminine voice sounded, but not before stepping on the back of his head, slamming it over and over against the floor.

Bam!

Bam!

While being hit, the old man turned his head, eyes red as he struggled to see who his attacker was. He had guessed it to be Houser or someone he sent, not expecting it to be a woman instead.

His eyebrows furrowed, and he gathered much of his strength to fight against her.

A mere woman, daring to do this to him?!

"ARGH!" he screamed, turning his body to punch the person.

But he only heard the whooshing sound of his hit, not hitting anything. After another look, he realized that there was no one there at all.

"What..."

"Over here..." the voice said, and he turned to see the woman standing leisurely on the other side of the room.

"What..." Anghit was confused, wondering how she got all the way there so quickly. But his voice died down when he saw her face, and it felt like he was doused with iced water.

Then she disappeared, right in front of his eyes.

Anghit felt his soul freeze in terror.

Evil spirit! The evil spirit is here!

His mind was whirling, and his body was frozen in terror. He did not notice that one of his golf clubs was swung right behind him.

BANG!

He found himself smashed down on the ground again, with sharp pain at the back of his head. He felt so dizzy he could swear that his brain was smacked outside his head.

He temporarily lost his consciousness, but not for long.

Torturing people was no fun if they're unconscious, after all.
