Epilogue: Sisters Forever
In the aftermath of the
next day, the first normal day they've had since middle school. The sisters
woke up with a full night's sleep.
Anne Faith said, "I
understand now why Mom did it, why she sacrificed everything for us." While
still yawning.
"Why? Said Marietta.
Yawning.
"Is it about what
God told us?"
Anne said, "No,
because don't you see it…
You have to see it?"
Anne Faith takes a breath.
"You're so oblivious, you
silly clown; no wonder you got bad grades. Oh, and I'm the blonde one haha.
Everything that God brought us through, she trusted Jesus when everything went
amiss."
Marietta said, "Ohhhh,
Like Jesus trusted God and commended his spirit into God's hands— while asking
forgiveness for the people who crucified him."
She shed a baby tear.
Anne said, "See, I knew
you read the Bible. It's like God said, right? He did not send his son to
condemn the world."
Marietta, after grabbing a
tissue, said, "But to save the world."
Marietta smiled, then
winked, after gathering herself. "Ohhh, oopsy, never really noticed that. Glad
you said that, love you, lost baby puppy." Marietta hugged Anne, and they
shared a moment of love.
They both remember their
journey together, and Marietta whispered, "I'll always protect you, my littlest
pup, pup. Know what I mean, jellybean?"
Anne Faith mumbled, "I'm
not a dang puppy. Anne sticks her tongue out like a puppy." Wolf, Wolf
Always remember, Anne,
"Remember I may be silly, but you're still my baby puppy." Said Marietta.
"You're such a beautiful
soul, one that has a stinky ass," Marietta said snarkly.
Anne Faith said playfully,
"And you remember, you may be older— but that won't stop this stinky ass from
throwing stuff at you. Remember, I got better grades in school than you. While
you were still in after-school detention, I was getting guys' attention. Anne
fluttered her little eyelids.
Marietta said, "Well, you
got me there. The principal had it out for me; I think he was a strict
dickhead. But remember, respect your elders, Anne Faith. Marietta said with
intent.
Anne throws a little soft
cotton ball at Marietta, and it bounces off her face. "Now you're the one who
sounds like a cry baby bear, told you I'd get you back…"
Marietta growls GRRR
Hahahaha—both sisters let
out a soft chuckle.
Hours passed as they
played video games together and as the horizon set peacefully into the night— a
baby's gentle words. They both simultaneously said, Mom, God rest her soul.
Jinx, poke,
You owe me a Coke!
Sisters forever, pinky
promise?" said Marietta.
Anne Faith gently put her
pinky interlocking with Marietta's, "Sisters Forever!"
