Chapter 9 - Act 8: Encounter

Half accomplished? Mission? What are we doing on beach?

These must be the questions rising in your minds right?

In case you skipped the paragraph on the first chapter, let me summarise it for you.

I'm a cyber fairy who is sent to this world, which is a meta center for the real world that you live in. I'm a part of an organisation that acts as a matchmaker between people who wish to meet each other again, or are connected via strings. The theatre is where I write down scenarios that would make their encounter in their real world look seamless, aided by the Vision Cube.

Currently, we are in Brent and Linda's scenario, which I have reckoned a beach vacation background would be the best for them. There's enough content from their past connections to drivel this meeting strong.

In order to aid this, I have transported to this dimension, and their first meeting was successful as witnessed.

Now, back to the plot?

...

While their hands were entangled with each other, I saw a light rose colored object emerge from both of their middle fingers, which became a glowing string, eventually dangling off a short end. The mission wasn't over yet. The strings had to be connected, with an unbreakable knot in the center, bonding them together.

"What is happening there!" A man came rushing through the crowd, stopping right above the two youngsters fighting.

He was lean but looked strong, with well defined calf muscles peeking through his shorts, a fluorescent jacket covered his well defined shoulders, a tan body with a cap that said "Life Guard."

"She's the one who tried to kill me!" Brent yelled, glaring at Linda.

"No officer, it was a mistake," Linda said, breaking off the eye contact and glancing at the Life Guard.

"Okay, fine, just clear up your issues somewhere else and don't disturb the others," He commanded as he picked the broken umbrella off the floor, packing it up neatly and throwing it inside his jacket pocket.

Linda and Brent complied hesitantly, standing up and fixing their messy states. Linda glared at him.

"I don't know if you have the backing to be shrewd like this, but please fix your manners," she said in a monotonous voice, but the words hit Brent like a sharp arrow.

"Whatever, we aren't meeting ever again, so see you never," Brent threw a weak smirk, hiding his discomfort, turning his back towards her and walking away.

Linda, on the other hand, began to run towards the hotel.

Although they had only met once, Brent felt a strange pang inside his chest, like a war drum being hit once. As he turned away from her, he felt like he was losing something or safeguarding something of his with her. Something inside of him urged to look back, to look for her. He complied, but it was too late as she was already gone.

Back at the hotel, Linda rushed to her room through the hotel lobby. Her limbs were shaking, her steps wavering, her face red and her ears felt hot, as if smoke was about to come out of them. She reached the door and opened the door in a hurry, entering inside and shutting it close.

"What the f*ck was that?!" She cursed for the first time in her life, as she hurriedly unzipped the swimsuit and ran for a quick cold shower.

Post shower, she walked out of the bathroom in her dressing gown and was greeted by her other roommates, who had worried expressions on their faces.

"We looked for you the entire day!" Berlin exclaimed. "Oh Dios Mio, what if you'd have gotten lost? Or kidnapped?

"We couldn't reach you," Honey, Berlin's other best friend said.

"It's okay guys... I'm fine, and I'm glad you both care for me so much..." Linda said, looking up at Berlin and holding her shoulders. "You wanted me... To have the grown up experience right?"

They nodded.

Linda walked to the dressing table by the window, unraveling her hair and plugging the hairdryer. She looked outside the glass window, which was facing the beach, now donned in a sunset glow. The water had calmed down and the sky was lit up in pinks and oranges, with the palm trees forming the silhouette of the scene. After all, the Loah Beach was prized for its scenic beauty.

"Oh, I just remembered..." She said, running the hair dryer through her needle straight hair, "will you guys join me for the band 'Shock Makers' concert? It's one of the artists I follow..."

Honey and Berlin both looked at each other hesitantly and back at Linda.

"Uhh... You know we don't like metal right," They squinted their eyes nervously.

"Oh, no worries at all... It's close by near the beach so I'll just go alone and come back."

Honey sighed.

"Okay, but please return back early before midnight."

Linda signalled an OK, rushing to get ready for the concert.

Both Honey and Berlin sat down in relief and a little hesitation.

"Was it a good idea to bring her along?" Honey whispered.

"Yeah, it should be fine," Berlin whispered back. "She's a grown-up after all."

Honey, unlike Berlin or Linda didn't have an extreme style. She dressed up in corporate casuals like overflowing shirts, simple metal jewellery and straight cut pants or simple dresses for the most part. Her hair was brown and straight, often with blonde highlights, often displaying an old money vibe.

Both Berlin and Honey were Linda's wealthy classmates who took a liking to her because of her genuine and naive attitude. For some reason, they felt a sisterly instinct towards her, to protect her. They both had sworn to give Linda a glow up on this trip, so that she wouldn't be outcasted anymore in their university. Linda was a little peculiar in terms of style and personality, and people saw her in a different light. This trip was meant to change that.

Alas, Linda wasn't easy to be swayed.

She walked out of the closet dressed in all blacks, with spikes on her belt, leather gloves, black shorts and an oversized t-shirt with the band's monogram on it, tucked in on one side.

She ran to the mirror and started fixing her hair into two ponytails, gelling her highlights into place. She put back on all of her piercings, the one on her ears, lips and her nose, followed by dark makeup on her almond-shaped eyes, donning a Kohl on her waterline. To finish her look, she put dark purple lipstick on her thin lips, that was tending towards black.

"How do I look?" She asked, wiping off extra lipstick with a tissue.

"Good... Amazing..." Honey and Berlin chanted, their eyes widened, holding a shaky thumbs up.

"Thanks, see you later," she said as she walked out of the door.

Linda walked to the venue, which was not far away, towards the end of the public beach. She could see the stage but no lights switched on or any other person in sight.

"Strange," she thought to herself.

She walked to the entrance on the other side and saw a banner the most unexpected thing written, ever:

"CRIME SCENE. DO NOT CROSS."
