In the background, I could hear him narrating the dialogues, crisp and clear as sun rays on a sunny day. His voice was subtly warm like a lukewarm hot chocolate on a cold night. I looked at him closely, and he seemed to have dark eyes, features a little brighter than me and light pink lips right under a round nose. He didn't seem bad, honestly would pass as a "good person" but something about him was very off to me.
After he left, the person who I was looking for showed up next. His CUBE-iD matched the one assigned to me. He was the one seeking a second chance at rendezvous. A Seeker. His acting didn't really matter to me, for he was the one I was looking for.
"Eureka!" I exclaimed, turning towards Margie and grabbing her hand. "I found him Margie, he's going to be the main lead in our play!"
"If the writer found the perfect representation of the character, who am I to interfere?" She said, responding back to my handshake.
"Ask him to send over his documents and we'll sign him soon." She said, picking up her stuff off the table. "I have some quick things to attend to," her voice trailed off as she darted out of the auditorium exit door.
I was left behind with my actor and the annoying face standing backstage. I could see him walking towards me climbing down the stage stairs.
"Umm...Sam, right?" I had forgotten the Seeker's name.
"Actually, my name is Paul."
"Oh y-yes, I am so sorry I missed out on your name." I quickly glanced at the other guy. "Do get ready tomorrow for your trials at 10 am."
I turned away as fast as I could, with quick steps towards the exit door before he could reach me.
"Hey! Why did you reject me? I was literally perfect for the role." He increased his pace and ran towards me, stopping me at the door.
I shot glances at him maybe once or twice. He didn't look bad but something about him suggested he was a walking danger.
Normally, a person would turn away or ignore but I just couldn't. My body took control of itself and I looked at him square in the eyes, locking the eye contact.
"I couldn't understand who DID NOT reject you before." I darted without thinking.
'Why am I even saying this?'
"You know, you should lower your ego a little bit." I gestured a falling graph using my hands.
He smacked his hand at the door, leaning closer to my face. "You might regret this," He said, with his lips turned into a smirk, gradually leaning in further closer to my face. He slammed the door with his other hand, trapping me within.
"Stop getting on my nerves." His voice sounded like he was gritting his teeth.
I shut my eyes and curled up like a hamster now, unable to predict his actions.
He didn't seem that bad before but this sudden switch was not very digestible.
"I'll see you more in the future."
"W-what do you need from me?"
I mustered the courage to ask him. His 183 cm fairly built body was towering over me, like a beast.
I could tell I was sharply being stared at. I opened my eyes softly. His brown eyes were glowing as the midday sun hit his face. They were deep and serene. Probably that made his performance so mesmerising. His light brown hair was long and curly, greatly animated. His breaths were soft, as they grazed my face. His eyes were swiftly moving about, from my eyes to my nose and back, like he was searching for something desperately.
Yet, something about him bothered me, as if I had to stay away from him.
I noticed tears welling up suddenly in my eyes, probably because of the fear.
I think my discomfort must've shown on my face like an imprint this time, because he suddenly took a hesitant step back, standing straight.
"Did I really scare you? I'm sorry, I was just showing you my acting skills, " He said as he tried to hold my shoulders but I flinched. "I didn't think it would be that scary."
"Acting skills? Is this a f*cking joke to you!" I screamed at him, with cracks in my voice. "Get lost right now! I want to have nothing to do with you!"
He must have come back to his senses and must have realised I'm not a pushover or something easy to mess with. He jolted away from me and fixed his hoodie, before simply walking away out of the exit door, without looking back.
What the hell was that? I thought to myself as I could feel my brain run in spirals.
"You are never going to see him again," is what I reassured myself with while patting my thumping chest, thinking that this was our first and last meeting, and that I will never see him again.
But, little did I know what was in store for me.
