Chapter 35 - Chapter 1

Raven's body trembled from the cold as he sat on an old, worn wooden chair beside the glass window.

The freezing wind slipped through the cracks, striking his face and stirring the strands of his jet-black hair.

He paid it no mind.

His silver eyes remained fixed on the view ahead in silence.

Crumbling buildings, leaning walls, collapsed roofs... even the streets, covered in pale snow, were littered with piles of garbage.

The foul smell carried by the cold wind made Raven wrinkle his nose in disgust.

"Haa..."

A warm breath escaped his lips as he clasped his hands together. Those silver eyes remained fixed on the world outside.

Different kinds of people stood before him. Some sat beside small fires to keep themselves warm, while others stayed inside the dilapidated buildings.

A trace of numbness lingered within those silver eyes.

It had seeped deep into his heart.

"...It's been a long time."

His hand moved to adjust the collar of the jacket wrapped around his body.

Raven let out a helpless sigh.

Over the past month, he had grown used to these scenes...

No.

He had become numb to them.

Grrr...

A faint growl came from his stomach, interrupting his thoughts.

"Heh... heh..."

The corner of his lips twitched slightly as a hint of frustration crossed his face.

"My last food supply..."

"...is about to run out."

Raven's slender body rose from the chair.

The old wooden floor let out a soft creak beneath him.

As soon as he stood up, the wood creaked once again beneath his weight.

Raven paid it no attention and walked toward the table inside the room.

On the way, he took out a small bag of biscuits before quietly sitting down.

Creak.

"Hehe... I'm sure this damned house will be the death of me someday."

His expression softened slightly as he let out a self-mocking smile.

Rip.

Crunch.

He casually tore open the plastic bag, took out a biscuit, and ate it.

As his hands continued to move and his mouth kept chewing, Raven's thoughts drifted elsewhere.

He picked up another biscuit and placed it into his mouth out of habit.

Raven.

That was the only name he remembered.

Other than that, he had no memories.

A month ago, he had awakened in this wretched place known as...

The Northern Dump.

Crunch.

Helplessness. Sorrow. Pain.

Those emotions had found their way into his heart, yet he had no idea what he should do.

"Crun... clack... no... please..."

His eyes trembled when he felt his teeth collide instead of the familiar hardness of the biscuit.

"No..."

His fears came true, and his thoughts wavered.

The bag of biscuits was empty.

"Nooooo..."

A low cry filled with miserable despair escaped his lips.

He frowned.

Then he stopped, brought his hands together, and clasped them tightly.

"Lord Biscuit... this humble servant shall never forget you."
