Chapter 101 - Chap.100 - Davy Jones

Edward Teague is the Pirate Lord of Madagascar, a title granted later. Furthermore, he is now the guardian of the Pirate Code, so Rigel didn't need his loyalty to update the hat. Besides, knowing what he knew about the man, he probably preferred death to forced submission. Rigel himself wasn't very interested in gaining his loyalty because he was one of the few 'honorable' pirates, at the very least, he followed the code.

When Elizabeth became Pirate Queen, he joined the battle, showing that just because Rigel was considered king, he had the right to be heard.

In the end, it wasn't worth going against Edward Teague, the man was a mystery in himself.

Rigel looked away, turning his gaze back to the Pirate Lords. "You may go, await my summons."

Saying this, Rigel turned and left. Calypso smiled slightly at them, following him soon after. Elizabeth, Anamaria, and Will, much calmer now, wasted no time in following them. Elizabeth was particularly excited, this whole situation was even better than she had expected.

Back on the ships, Rigel's crew was the first to leave. The pirates who remained looked at Rigel with different eyes now, there was no longer hostility, but a respect whose origin they didn't know, which even they themselves were confused about.

During Ragnarok, Rigel was pensive. Now that he had resolved the issue of the pirate lords, the next step was to develop his fleet and await the events of the 'At World's End', especially Davy Jones. He wanted to know if the man would come to him first or to Jack first.

"Where are we going now, darling?" Calypso approached, speaking softly.

Rigel didn't look at her, not out of spite, but out of nervousness. "Tortuga, we still need workers to extract the gold from the mountain, then we'll return to Atlantis. We'll search for hideous sinners in the meantime so we can use the fountain."

Calypso nodded, she didn't mind, she just wanted to talk to him. "Really? Then I'll make dinner."

Rigel's eyes widened immediately, his fear evident. "No!"

Calypso frowned at Rigel, clearly displeased that he didn't want to eat her food.

Rigel's lips trembled as he opened his bag, rummaged through it a bit, and handed her a book of magical recipes.

"If you want to cook, use this. If you make something with heads and entrails again, I'll throw it in the sea!" Rigel made clear, then turned and walked past the zombies, heading straight to his room.

Calypso pursed her lips, annoyed, but still opened the book curiously, her eyes sparkling. There were many interesting spells in it, though they were all based on food. She read as she walked to the kitchen.

(6 months later)

A storm raged on the sea, the rain fell heavily while the wind roared unrestrained, advancing through this endless storm, a ship made of wood covered in moss, barnacles, corals and skeletal remains, possessing a prow with the iconic figure of a sea monster.

Not far away, a shipwreck had recently occurred, consisting only of broken pieces of wood with a few men clinging to them, struggling to stay afloat, their breaths heavy as they tried to avoid swallowing the saltwater.

Some prayed, others wept, and some even seemed to have lost hope, too far from any land, they would need divine help to survive this.

Well, there was no divine help, but the devil himself came after them, offering a deal or a quick end.

At the bow of the ship, a figure stood, staring coldly at those unfortunate souls. A lightning bolt flashed across the sky in the distance, its light briefly illuminating his face, but there was no human face there, only an octopus-like face with tentacles swaying like a beard.

Davy Jones.

In the sea, humanoid figures swam swiftly toward the unfortunate castaways. Each of the castaways was dragged into the sea amidst screams, leaving those who remained even more terrified, screaming in fear, but in the end, they were all pulled ashore.

The shipwrecked sailors thought they would be dragged by beasts to the depths, but instead, they were thrown from the water, falling onto the wood. They gasped, spitting out all the water from their lungs, but when finally the first of them began to adjust, grateful to have 'stable' ground beneath their feet, the blood drained from their faces as quickly as their happiness arrived.

Around them, a group of creatures, half human, half sea creatures, with hideous appearances and cold smiles, calmly observed them.

A figure slowly approached, the sound of its wooden leg echoing through the wood.

One of the men tried to run away, screaming in fear, but the next moment, Davy Jones appeared directly in front of him, grabbing his face with his pincers.

"Do you fear death?" Davy Jones asked lightly, pressing his face a little harder, making him cry out, but Davy Jones ignored him. "Do you fear the darkness of the abyss?"

Davy Jones seemed to relish the situation as he continued his monologue. "All your actions revealed and all your sins punished..."

"I can offer you an escape." Davy Jones continued, slowly bringing his face closer to his. "Come, join us and delay the trial, 100 years of service as a sailor... do you want to serve?"

The man was trembling violently, his fear evident, so he didn't need a second request, the fear in his heart was overwhelming him. "I-I accept."

"It's done!" Davy Jones laughed excitedly, pleased to have secured another soul to suffer with him.

Davy Jonas didn't stop there, one by one, he recruited from among these sailors. None of them refused, from each of them, eight men joined his crew.

The men, now free, were quickly put to work while the Flying Dutchman sailed away, but Davy Jones, who was passing by, stopped when he heard something that made him freeze.

"...Calypso..."

Davy Jones stopped, turned with a sudden movement, and his pincers tightened around the neck of the unfortunate man who uttered that name. "How dare you mention that name in my presence?" Davy Jones glared at the man in fury.

The man gasped for breath, struggling to catch his breath as he spoke. "N-no, I-I'm sorry."

Davy Jones frowned, his octopus-like face contorting as he released the man. He drew his sword while the man struggled to breathe, placing it near his neck. Davy Jones spoke. "Speak! You only have one chance to explain yourself. Why did you mention that name?"

The man stopped coughing, wanting to crawl away from Davy Jones, but felt something grabbing his back, one of the 'fish men' had already grabbed him.

Seeing Davy Jones' increasingly unhappy expression, the man began to speak rapidly.

"I'll talk! I'll talk! I was saying I was going to Tortuga, I wanted to join the Pirate King's fleet." The man said quickly.

"King... pirate?" Davy Jones asked, a mixture of disbelief and mockery, almost laughing at the ostentatious title. Had those idiotic pirate lords finally elected a king? This intrigued him, normally he would have asked directly about it, but now he wanted to know something else.

"And what does that have to do with Calypso?!" Davy Jones frowned. He knew the nine Pirate Lords could free her, after all, he was the one who taught them how to seal her. If there was a king and Calypso was mentioned, it would worry him. "Speak!"

The man swallowed hard and spoke. "Captain Rigel C. Black, they say he's a powerful witch in the body of a child, and they say he freed Calypso and and she is his lover. They say he controls the pirate lords and the sea itself, so he's the most powerful pirate in history."

Davy Jones froze, his face growing colder and colder, his anger rapidly escalating.

"Slander!" He yelled as his sword descended, piercing the man's neck with a precise movement. The man fell as Davy Jones pulled his sword back, but Davy Jones didn't give him a second glance, instead, the rage in his empty chest only grew.

"Rigel... C. Black..." Davy Jones repeated, doubting it was true, but whether it was or not, the mere fact that he dared to say he was Calypso's lover infuriated Davy Jones.

"Intendant!" Davy Jones shouted, making one of his subordinates stand as straight as possible, knowing his captain was filled with rage. "Adjust course! Let's go hunting!"
