That night, Dalma returned, but she wasn't alone. With her, a group of armed black men appeared, looking at the pirate ship in the distance with evident negative emotions, but the presence of the only other woman beside Dalma made them restrain themselves.
The woman was not young, instead, she was middle-aged, but her eyes were calm and focused, the eyes of a leader.
"Nanny." a man closer to the woman said, his face filled with frustration. "I don't like this. We shouldn't trust them, especially since they're pirates."
"A pirate who brought more than 300 brothers and sisters to freedom without asking for anything in return." The woman turned to the man who had spoken to her. "Whether he's a pirate or not, white or black, it doesn't matter to me."
The man opened his mouth, but didn't say anything for a long moment. The woman smiled slightly at him, stroking his face. "Kojo, we need medicine, and now with so many more people, we need food."
Kojo pursed his lips, but in the end said nothing.
Dalma simply observed with interest, without commenting much, when the woman asked her to negotiate with her captain. She became interested in what Rigel would do, so she didn't refuse, but she set a condition, as the leader, she should go and speak to Rigel herself.
Nanny didn't hesitate for a moment, despite the opposition, she went anyway, which made Dalma even more curious.
Dalma smiled, placed her hand in the sea for a few minutes, and, to the astonished eyes of the group, pulled a sea serpent from the sea, not one of those from Rigel, she had simply summoned one.
After speaking to the snake for a moment, she placed it back in the water and waited.
Ten minutes later, a boat slowly arrived at the cove.
In it, Rigel left, along with Clemens, Elizabeth, and Will.
Looking at Dalma with evident irritation, this woman continued making decisions randomly, but Dalma only smiled seductively at him, as if she didn't notice his irritation.
"Annoying, headstrong woman." He muttered softly, averting his gaze from her and turning back to the other woman.
The group was surprised that Rigel was just a child, Dalma hadn't mentioned it at all, of course she wouldn't, she found it very interesting.
Even so, Nanny didn't mind, she could see that this wasn't a joke. The eyes of the three behind Rigel showed clear respect for him.
However, her brother wasn't so patient. "What is this?! Are you making fun of us?!"
He pointed his flintlock pistol directly at Rigel, and the group behind them also moved, pointing their guns at them.
Nanny's eyes widened in fury, and before Rigel could even say anything, she yelled at her group in a language he didn't understand.
She screamed angrily for quite some time, until her men lowered their weapons and looked ashamed, the man next to her also lowered his weapon, but kept his brow furrowed.
Nanny glared at him, but eventually turned her gaze back to Rigel.
"I'm sorry about my brother, we didn't mean to offend you." The woman lowered her head towards Rigel, in an apologetic tone.
This made her group even angrier, but they didn't move again.
Rigel simply looked at them, curiously.
In fact, knowing about these guys, the paranoid Rigel had already let a group of snakes advance behind them a long time ago, he was about to have these snakes kill the group when Nanny moved first.
Rigel stared at the woman, curious, then spoke. "What do you want from me?"
"Medicine, food, weapons, gunpowder, and ammunition if you have any to spare." The woman said.
Rigel blinked, curious and thoughtful. He still had plenty of dried meat, but that was his emergency reserve, medicine... he only had his potions left, using them on this group would deplete them, and he might still run out. He wouldn't do that.
At most, he could sell a barrel of diluted potion, its effect was only enough to act as ordinary medicine, not even enough to save anyone, but it could still be sold.
As for guns and ammunition... he actually had plenty, and to get more he only needed to plunder some ships or dock in Tortuga, he could sell the surplus.
"No food, I can give you the medicine, but it's not cheap, just like the weapons and ammunition, but not gunpowder." Rigel shrugged, which still relieved the woman somewhat. "However, what can you offer in return?"
The woman seemed thoughtful for a moment. "Do you accept Spanish Silver?"
"Of course." Rigel nodded.
The woman smiled at this, then the two began to argue for a while. Rigel sold the potion for about 450 pieces of Ocho, which was almost 100 pounds sterling.
To be honest, in terms of actual profit, Rigel made a lot of money, but that was based on the world of Harry Potter, in that world, a potion like that would be bought for thousands of pounds by merchants and nobles.
Rigel sold it cheaply because he felt a little compassion, he explained the potion's effect and how it worked when diluted in a barrel of water, and the woman agreed to buy it.
The weapons and ammunition had to be brought on the ship, Rigel sold the pistols for 10 pieces of Ocho each, the rifles for 15, he practically gave them away, selling them at the lowest price.
The ammunition, on the other hand, was much cheaper, made of lead, with 80 rounds of ammunition for 1 piece of Ocho. In the end, he sold 50 guns and more than 5,000 rounds of ammunition.
The total amount was laughable to Rigel, but he didn't care much. After negotiating, he turned and left. Losing the potion was a real shame, but he didn't feel much about it, instead, a weight on his shoulders seemed to lessen slightly.
Rigel left that encounter behind, he still had much to do in this world. Returning to the ship, he asked Anamaria to chart a course for Tortuga. After securing more supplies, they would set off in search of Poseidon's trident.
[A/N: Nanny of the Maroons really existed, she was a Jamaican heroine who led the Windward Maroons in a series of battles against the British colonizers. If you're curious about her, you can look her up, her face is on the Jamaican $500 bill.]
