Chapter 7 - THE NEW STUDENT

The classroom was already half full when the door opened quietly gaining silence and everyone's attention.

Aura Sinclair stepped in, her movements composed, her expression calm. The soft rustle of her uniform skirt was enough to draw attention. Conversations lowered, then thinned into whispers as several students turned.

She did not hesitate.

Her posture was straight, elegant without stiffness, her gaze steady as she scanned the room once before moving toward the empty seats near the middle. There was something quietly confident about her, something that didn't ask for attention yet gathered it all the same.

"She's new… right?" one girl whispered.

"She must be. I've never seen her before."

"That uniform… it looks better on her than it does on anyone else."

"She looks like high nobility."

"She probably is."

Across the room, a few boys exchanged glances, curious but restrained. One of them stood first.

"You're the transfer student?" he asked politely.

Aura inclined her head. "Yes."

"Jeremy Chase," he introduced, offering a small, practiced smile. "Class president."

He carried himself with quiet authority, his uniform immaculate, posture disciplined. There was a natural leadership in the way he stood, the way others subtly shifted to give him space.

"I'll help you if you need anything."

"Thank you," Aura replied calmly.

Another girl leaned forward from the seat ahead. "I'm Tina Michael, class secretary. If you need notes or schedules, I handle most of that."

Her tone was warm and welcoming.

Francis stepped in " okay okay got it." Sitting right beside her like he was declaring dominance. " I'm her guide."

From the back, a chair scraped lazily. A girl with her sleeves slightly rolled and posture relaxed watched the scene with mild interest.

Avery Blake.

Despite her casual demeanor, several students instinctively gave her space. She was known not only for her athletic dominance but also for her celebrity status. Prestigious family, media attention, tournament wins. She tilted her head slightly, studying Aura with cool curiosity and something else in her eyes before looking away again.

More students approached, introducing themselves. The attention was polite but steady. Aura responded with the same gentle composure, never flustered, never overly friendly.

"There are only twenty-five students in this class," Tina mentioned helpfully. "The academy limits it."

"And only four classes total," Jeremy added. "We're considered the top tier."

Aura nodded slightly.

Before she could respond, the atmosphere shifted.

The door opened again.

Several girls straightened instantly.

"He's here."

Prince Ethan Cole stepped inside.

The reaction was subtle but undeniable. Conversations quieted, attention drawn without effort. His presence carried natural authority, his silver-gray hair catching the morning light, striking blue eyes scanning the room briefly.

He moved with effortless composure, neither rushed nor slow.

Francis walked to him with a small smile, relaxed, confident, offering a lazy smile to a few familiar faces. His dark hair fell slightly over his forehead, his expression charming, easygoing.

" What did she discuss with you, do we have work to do today?" He whispered in a low tone while Prince Ethan nodded otherwise.

"The student council is all here today," someone whispered.

Indeed, Stephanie McHenry followed shortly after. Her gaze swept the room sharply, pausing the moment she noticed the unfamiliar face sitting among them. Her expression tightened almost imperceptibly.

She took her seat, posture perfect.

Stephanie, vice president of the student council.

Her eyes flickered briefly toward Ethan and Francis who had now taken a set beside Aura, before returning to Aura again.

' this is the first time he's sitting with anyone other than Francis.' she said forming fists.

Francis dropped into his seat casually, setting his bag aside. "You're weird today," he muttered to Ethan.

Ethan didn't answer immediately.

His gaze had paused.

Just briefly.

On Aura.

Not long enough to draw attention. Long enough to notice.

For her to notice, she quietly looked away and tried to look busy to conceal her flustered look.

He was seated near the window and gazed outside while his mind was lost in thought.

"Student council meeting later," Jeremy said, turning slightly. "President."

Ethan nodded once.

Vincent McMillan leaned back in his chair near the side row, watching everything unfold. His smile was faint, but his eyes were sharp. As student council liaison, his role held little authority, mostly ceremonial. He attended meetings, passed notices, but made no real decisions.

Still, he watched Ethan closely.

Then Aura.

Then Stephanie.

Interesting.

The bell rang.

But the quiet tension in the room did not fade.
