Chapter 3 - How did this happened?

"Oh, my god, are they alright?"

"Someone called an ambulance, we have an emergency here!"

"Mommy, why are people shouting?"

"The things people would get themselves in just for a bit of attention is insane, I swear, they'd do anything to be in the spotlight!"

"Oh, shit, how did the rope snap? I thought they were secure, boss!"

"I don't know! Let's go down the ladder and hope that Noah and the pedestrian are all right!

Hitch slowly regained vision after what felt like just seconds after something seemed to fall on him, he now understood why the pedestrians surrounding him were so noisy, yet none of them seemed to showcase any signs of assist in a situation like this, he wasn't that surprised, in fact, he wish that whatever fell on him wasn't hard to remove, as it pinned him on the ground with his documents scattered on the sidewalk like dead leaves.

Hitch inhaled and attempted to crawl out of something heavy; he was having trouble breathing properly, and fortunately for him, he still had strength remaining in him to crawl out as the weight seemed to get lighter, or maybe it was the weight that was just getting removed on its own.

Then, the weight vanished completely, and he finally filled his lungs full again, as he still hadn't quite caught what was going on and why it happened. He then felt something wrapped around his chest and lifted off the ground. He was still dizzy and couldn't register why there were sweaty, huge, soft arms catching him from behind.

"Oh, my god, I'm so sorry, sir. I hope you are all right?" said a voice behind him, which made Hitch spin around and look at the person who talked to him.

He wondered what he was first staring at as his eyes only registered what seemed to be huge, round melons, which were fit tightly in a white tank top smeared all over with sweat. Hitch then considered the possibility that someone fell on him so hard that he began imagining bizarrely pleasing things. Hitch then looked up, and he didn't expect what was in front of him.

He was met with a gorgeous sight. A face which was so beautiful he could forever admire it. Long, golden hair that was magnificently loose and reflected the sunlight in ways Hitch had never seen any crystal perform such a feat. The deep, bright blue eyes were excellent objects of gaze. The face of the person expressed concern for him - something he hadn't experienced in ages.

"Are you an angel?" Hitch asked dreamily.

The person in front of him couldn't suppress a grin and chukled lightly.

"No, you're not in heaven yet," said the worker as he approached Hitch to examine him further than was necessary. Hitch didn't mind at all - he seemed to be secretly enjoying it.

The other workers descended from the ladder and ran to them. They barely put any effort into pushing the crowd because of how massive they were, and they looked much older than the one in front of Hitch.

"Are they alright, Noah?" one of them asked, concerned, and approached Hitch to inspect to see if there were any external injuries inflicted upon this poor pedestrian.

"I'm okay," said Hitch casually, "I felt even better for some unknown reasons." Of course, the reason wasn't unknown at all.

"Gosh, we need to report to the administrator about what just happened!" said one of the older workers seriously. "We can't leave this kind of negligence unnoticed!"

"This is a mess. Imagine if they decided to proceed with a lawsuit against the company?!"

"Don't worry, I won't do anything!" said Hitch brightly. "It was an accident, it could have happened at any moment to anyone, and I was unfortunate enough to succumb to misfortune after misfortunes," said Hitch gleefully as though he didn't mind.

"Are you all right, sir?" Noah asked caringly.

"Don't worry, it's not as if I wasn't used to this kind of hospitality, I am completely fine!" said Hitch confidently.

The crowd continued their days as though nothing that had happened earlier was worth remembering; now, only the workers and Hitch remained. The street sounds suddenly busier than before as people rolled past Hitch as though he were part of the decoration.

"I'm going home, people, and if you don't mind, could you please help me with the papers?"

"Of course," said Noah as he bent over to pick up the mess on the ground along with the other workers. In no time at all, they've accomplished their side mission, which they didn't need to do. Noah collected all of the paper and handed them to Hitch.

"Thank you so much, I appreciated your actions," said Hitch gratefully.

"Oh, don't mention it," said Noah.

"I hope you have a good day," said Hitch earnestly. He spun around, and his face started to become gloomy again, but before he could walk any farther, Hitch felt his arms being grabbed; though it made him stop still, it didn't feel hard, but soft and gentle, and began to make Hitch's stomach flip, with his heart thumping hard as he let out a soft gasp.

"Wait!" said Noah urgently. "I might be able to compensate for what happened to you. What do you say about some beer?" said Noah. It seemed clear from his face and his voice that he wanted this more than Hitch.

Hitch turned around and looked at him. "Yeah, some beers will do. Where do you say we meet?" Hitch asked curiously.

"Well, there's a place I know that has some really great beers, but I don't know where it is. Can I have your phone number, and I will send you an SMS, what do you say?" said Noah hopefully.

"Of course, that's totally true! Here's my phone number." Hitch pulled out a small piece of parchment with his phone number on it. "So, what kind of place are you taking me to?" Hitch asked fervently.

"Well, you'll see," said Noah nervously.

"Thanks," said Hitch amicably.

"For what?" Noah asked, perplexed.

"For doing something for me," said Hitch honestly, and he smiled at Noah's face and kept staring at him with warm and loving eyes. Noah's face seemed to have reddened, and he might have passed out at that moment, so to avoid looking awkward, he just looked down and tapped his right foot repeatedly.

"No, problem!" he squeaked. "It's the least I can do!" he said in a more confident tone. Hitch can't stop smiling.

"Well, I'm free, so whenever you want, I'll come for you," said Hitch amicably. "Well, goodbye or see you later!" said Hitch happily.

"See you later!" said Noah timidly.

Hitch left the scene feeling heavier than before; it was as though his body was finally beginning to be useful. He sensed as though his heart was becoming bigger and his chest seemed to be heavier than at any previous stage of his life; it didn't feel like a burden, rather an aid to him. It was a most wonderful feeling; he hadn't felt that in a long time. He wished that it would only grow and not fade, for he clung to it.
