Chapter 27 - Too Generous? Question it!

1 STONE IS ALL I NEED!! THANK YOU;)

~~~~~~~~~
Back at the Celestial palace, the man Ryan saw neither old nor young at first glance—his face settled somewhere in between, refined and composed, as if age itself could not properly define him.
His features were sharp but not too harsh, with high cheekbones and a straight nose, giving him a naturally dignified presence without needing to impose it.
His eyes are the most striking part.
They are not a single color to say the least. Within each iris, faint layers shifted slowly—like overlapping star maps, fragments of constellations drifting in and out of alignment. When he focuses on something, those shifting patterns tighten, as if calculating distances, possibilities, and outcomes all at once. Looking directly into them gives the uncomfortable sense that space itself is being measured… including the distance between one's thoughts.
His hair is long, falling past his shoulders, a muted silver with subtle streaks of deep indigo that only become visible when light catches them at certain angles. The strands don't move naturally with the wind—instead, they lag slightly behind, as though space around them is delayed or stretched.
His skin is pale but not lifeless, carrying a faint, almost imperceptible sheen, like polished stone under starlight. Across parts of his neck and collarbone, thin geometric markings occasionally appear and fade—lines and angles that don't seem decorative, but functional, like coordinates briefly surfacing before disappearing again.
He dresses simply as a God. Layered robes in dark tones—deep blue, black, and muted violet—stitched with fine, almost invisible patterns that resemble star charts and spatial grids. The fabric itself feels heavier than it should, as if it anchors him in place within an otherwise shifting reality.
Both deities carried no weapons with them, they sat on their own respective Thrones as they gave Ryan a welcoming gaze. The Goddess was the first to speak which surprised Ryan.
"Ah, you're finally here, we expected you much earlier, but this will do, how may we address you?"
Ryan paused and thought to himself, what was a good name to go by especially since he didn't know his divinity. After much thought, he answered without making them wait any further, "I'll go by Thanatos for now"
They didn't question his decision and continued with the introductions, "Thanatos, welcome to the Celestial council, I am Zara the Goddess of Judgement and Divine Balance, this over here is Kane the God of wisdom and space, we hope your journey here wasn't troublesome. As you can see the other Gods aren't present, so it's only us that you'll have to deal with."
Ryan chuckled as he moved the puppet closer, "It's better this way in my opinion, after all how else would I have the opportunity to speak to you"
The Goddess seemed unbothered by Ryan's lack of formality so she continued, "Yes how else....Thanatos this may trouble us just as much as it troubles you, but your existence seems to bear flaws, the first being I can sense your Divine well, and I can also tell you have a Void affinity with more potential than any other creature to ever exist, what I can't tell is your true Divinity."
Ryan wanted to say that's because he was hiding it or concealing it, but that would be a stupid, this Goddess seems to be able to gather a lot of information from someone on first glance, plus there was also the possibility she could tell a lie apart from the truth.
But aside from that how would a New God know how to conceal their Divinity? Truly, it would have been a stupid thing to say.
So he didn't want to offend their intelligence with his response, "I too don't know what's going on, I was hoping to get answers from you".
Zara nodded then spoke, "Well we don't mind helping you understand your situation after all you're now one of us, so why not make the best of the moment and help each other out"
Ryan couldn't help but feel happy that the Goddess's attitude was so kind it felt wrong, in fact he felt like they were too kind to him, I mean it's not like he could benefit them in any way, so why help him so much?. He wanted to further confirm his suspicion just in case he was actually being paranoid.
"If you guys don't mind me asking, aside from understanding my situation...I actually require your expertise God of wisdom and space, i also want to know where the river of reincarnation is" He asked hoping they would hesitate to his requests, he had just gotten here and he's already making requests?
"Ahh I see you want to cultivate your void affinity, fear not we will provide you with all the ingredients free of charge in fact, you don't even need to outsource them yourself" Zara replied immediately with a look of anticipation, it was as if this interaction was going as she had planned it.
'Oh my God somethings fishy here, so eager to help me, this can't be good, I refuse to believe they're doing this out of the goodness of their hearts!' Ryan quietly thought to himself.
The one thing Ryan learnt back on Earth that was crucial was that whenever something is too good to be true, you are right to question it and doubt it with all your heart and mind, heck it might even be a scam!.
So Ryan shook his head sideways and said "Cut the bullshit, what's really going on here, what's the catch for such generosity".
And he was right to suspect them, Zara and Kane looked at each other briefly, then nodded in agreement about something. Then they both turned to Ryan.
Kane was the first to speak, his voice serious, "Thanatos, in 1 year, there will be a Divine Invasion, where both the Empress Azura clan of Zara and the Myriad formation clan of Kane, myself, will fight against the 5 other clans to the death, with us Gods on the chopping block too!"
