The inferno wolves bared their teeth the close they got. Somehow the trees or plants haven't caught on fire yet. I wanted to know why, but that wasn't important right now.
The biggest wolf was the closest to us. He was likely the leader of the pack. And yet it just stood there staring at both me and Shiro.
It was like a staring contest between me and the wolf. Suddenly the wolf leaped towards me. His mouth open wide, ready to eat me whole.
Even at the face of sudden death. I couldn't look away. The leaping wolf somehow felt slower, like it wasn't even moving.
Only then did I notice that the world had turned into hue's of grey. For a second I thought I had died, but it didn't feel that way, and besides, the world didn't turn grey when I died so it definitely wasn't that.

A system? I remember my parents talking about me getting one when I turn ten, but they never explained what it was.
{The master will get the combined strength off all the inferno wolves in the area and have the ability to choose one out of three skills suitable for the situation.}
Isn't this a little unfair, not that I'm complaining. I hoped that I could get something like [fire resistant] or [water manipulation] to deal with the wolves easily.

Although both the [heat resistance] and [water manipulation] were both tempting, I couldn't pick either. If I did pick them I could put my friend in danger.
So with a bit of reluctance I ended up picking the [aggression attraction]. What waste of perfectly good skills.
As soon as I choose the skill I wanted, a sudden wave of knowledge rushed inside my head. I could perfectly understand how to use the skill and everything about it. Even how far it reaches.
Time was no longer stopped, the world slowly began moving once again. Colours filled the area once more.
Moving faster than I have in any of my lives, I landed a clean hit on the leaders snout, knocking some of its teeth out and everything. The other wolves still didn't give up. Activating the [Aggression attraction] skill, I manage to attract all the wolves attention to me.
My friend, Shiro was still frozen in fear. At some point he fell on his butt. "Please leave and call my parents!" I had to get him out of there. I didn't want my friend to die.
Even though I have the [Aggression Attraction] skill it is still an F-Rank skill, one of the wolves could go outside it's reach and attack Shiro.
Punching another wolf in the head I realised to late that the temperature had increased a lot. My hand burned, the flesh bubbling and sizzling almost melting off my hand. I held my hand close trying to look composed and lessen the pain.
In my distraction I didn't notice a wolf jumping behind me heading straight for Shiro. Only then did I realise I accidentally deactivated the skill. Putting all my strength towards my legs, I rushed towards the wolf hoping to reach it before it could grab my friend.
I had manged to reach it and activated my skill once again. All the wolves attention were now solely on me. It was annoying, the pain of every time I touched one of them, but what was more annoying was the fact that Shiro wouldn't move from that spot. Not even when one of them charged at him! Does he have no survival instinct!
In anger I shouted at Shiro, "Get off your ass and go get my parents, you dumb ass!" My angry shout seemed to snap Shiro out of his frozen state as he began running away.
That was good. It didn't really matter if he had gone to get my parents or not, I could deal with this myself! The wolves by themselves weren't that difficult to kill, it just hurt a bit to attack them that's all!
Gritting my teeth I prepare to attack them once more. Cocking my fist back, I punch the back of the smallest one making it explode. Grabbing another one by the throat I launched it towards a tree. It hit its back and laid there, likely dead.
Another wolf jumped at me, all it took was a smack to the face and it quickly became headless.
My hand now no longer resembled a hand. It was almost completely melted off. Even my bones didn't seem like they would last for much longer.
Luckily all that was left was a single inferno wolf. Slowly I began walking towards it. It growled as I got closer bearing its teeth at me. Its body made up of nothing but flames glowed brighter as I felt the temperature increase around me. But it didn't matter, all I had to do was kill it and it would all be over.
Pulling my right arm back, I aim for the head once more and finish all of this for good. The heat from the inferno wolf burned what remained of my hand. Now there was nothing but a stub, my bones melted when I made contact with the wolf.
Falling to my knees I almost felt like crying. The pain from the burns hurt so badly. Almost my entire arm was covered in third degree burns. The lower part of my arm had just about no flesh left, the little flesh there looked like overcooked meat. In a sense it was overcooked meat.
In the corner of my eye I saw a glowing orange stone. It was small being able to fit in the palm of my small hand. The stone began to float and I could feel some sort of pressure coming off of it as flames enveloped it. Slowly the flames began to take form, a form that I was so familiar with.
I begged to be wrong, if what I think really happened then I don't know what I would do. Would I give up? Or would I somehow find the resolve to fight again, not just it but all of them.
Only now did I truly hope that Shiro would go and find my parents.
With a brightly coloured flash, the flames took form. The form was that of a large wolf. Its hight stood at least two times larger than me. In terms of the wolves I had fought it was on the smaller end.
I had wanted to scream upon seeing it, but nothing exited my mouth as if I had already given up. In a way I did, I had given up. I was already in so much pain and so, so tired, I couldn't imagine fighting another inferno wolf again.
I lay my head down as tears slowly began streaming down my face. I was…scared, but I already died before, what was so special about this? Was it because it would be a painful death? No that wasn't the case, I think…I just don't want to die yet.
I had enjoyed the short amount of time I had in the world. Even if I had so much more I wanted to do.
Suddenly a gust of wind came from above. I instinctively looked up only to see my mother carrying a sword high above the air. She landed close to me. Well she didn't really land. She has been floating using wind and fire magic.
I could even hear my father screaming my name as trees were thrown about. As soon as he came into sight he immediately jumped towards a wolf.
A blue system panel appeared by his side as he reached in and grabbed a large battle axe. His aura was enough to intimate all the wolves in the area, and with a single swing he completely destroyed the wolf.
Not only that but he grabbed the red crystal and crushed it in his hand.
My father wasn't the only one attacking the wolves, my mother was too.
She was using ice, water and wind magic, creating spears of ice and using wind magic to throw them. She used water magic to create a whip like weapon that she used to destroy the crystals that fell from the wolves.
But why destroy the crystals? Couldn't they be sold or something. It felt like a waste destroying them.
"Yuri, are you alright!?" My father came to my side immediately. He picked me up and started rushing towards the town. He didn't waste another second on the inferno wolves.
I wanted to answer him, tell my father that I was okay, that I would be fine. But I couldn't. I tried opening my mouth but nothing came out.
My father seeing this seemed to get worried, at least more than he already was. "It's alright you don't have to talk." I could hear his voice shaking. He was scared. "I know someone who can fix this, you won't die."
I could only nod my head. It was getting more difficult to stay awake, but I couldn't close my eyes. What if I don't wake up?
Although no matter how hard I try, I couldn't seem to stay awake. The last thing I saw was a system message.
