Chapter 55 - Chapter 55: Arrival in Bangkok

After a four-and-a-half-hour flight from Mumbai, the plane touched down in Bangkok at 1:00 AM local time.

Time in Thailand was an hour and a half ahead of India. Rahul grabbed his backpack, stepped off the plane, and followed the massive crowd toward the immigration area.

Looking at the dense sea of travelers, Rahul couldn't help but sigh. "The internet loves to talk about how sketchy Southeast Asia is, yet the airport is absolutely packed at 1 AM."

Rahul queued for over an hour before it was finally his turn. The Thai immigration officer didn't ask a single question or check his return ticket; he just went thud-thud, stamped Rahul's passport, and waved him through.

Rahul quickly walked out of the noisy, suffocating immigration hall, took the escalator down, and headed toward the main exits.

Only then did he pull down his surgical mask and take a deep breath. Just moments ago, he had been stuck in line next to a large group of unwashed backpackers. The lethal combination of stale sweat, heavy patchouli, and cheap beer had nearly made him gag.

Stepping out of the airport doors, Rahul felt a physical wall of heat hit him. Even at dawn, Bangkok's humidity was heavy and unforgiving.

Rahul stood by the curb, about to figure out the taxi situation, when an overly aggressive, sweaty freelance taxi tout shoved his way into Rahul's personal space.

"Hey boss! Taxi? I give you good price! Where you go?"

A strong smell of stale tobacco and garlic rushed into Rahul's nostrils. Looking at the guy's intense, bloodshot eyes, Rahul instinctively took a few steps back. He pulled his mask up and immediately put it back on.

Who could withstand that kind of chemical warfare right after a flight?

Rahul quickly walked away to a quieter exit, pulled out his phone, opened the Grab ride-hailing app, and booked a car to his hotel. He tried to keep a low profile while waiting, not wanting to be swarmed by any more aggressive touts.

Fortunately, his Grab arrived quickly. Rahul dashed forward, pulled open the door, and slipped into the blissfully air-conditioned backseat.

As the car cruised along the Bangkok intercity expressway, the sprawling, dimly lit shantytowns on the outskirts formed a sharp, jarring contrast with the towering, brightly lit skyscrapers of the downtown skyline. Bangkok was a true international metropolis, but like many places in Asia, a fraction of the wealthy controlled the vast majority of the resources.

Rahul had a strong feeling that this filming trip would lead to encounters with some incredibly high-quality women. The vibrant energy here was something Dhaka could hardly match. Plus, there was an even more critical point: there weren't nearly as many strict cultural restrictions here. If the vibe was right, he wouldn't have to worry about looking over his shoulder!

The car exited the highway and plunged into the city center.

What met his eyes was a neon-soaked, chaotic wonderland of nightlife. Even at 2 AM, the roads were jammed with traffic, tuk-tuks weaving dangerously between cars. Bangkok, the city that never sleeps, truly lived up to its reputation.

Looking out the window, Rahul saw groups of stunning girls walking along the bustling sidewalks, dressed in tight, revealing clothes and showing off incredibly long legs.

Stuck in traffic, Rahul noticed that some of these "girls" were drop-dead gorgeous—easily a solid eight or nine out of ten. But with his sharp eyes, he caught a glimpse of their feet, which were larger than his own, and their broad shoulders. He immediately understood.

These were Kathoeys—Thailand's famous ladyboys!

They were truly flawless illusions! If an inexperienced tourist met one of these beauties after a few drinks and couldn't control himself, he was in for a massive surprise.

At the thought, Rahul couldn't help but shudder.

He knew that the transgender community in Thailand had several "tiers." Some were easily identifiable, while others had undergone partial transitions and were prettier than average girls, only given away by their voices or hands. But the top-tier ones were "fully modified." From head to toe, their appearance rivaled top supermodels and actresses.

Rahul remembered a famous viral clip from an action movie where the macho lead actor shared a passionate kiss with a stunning Thai actress. He had been so envious of the actor back then. Later, when he read online that the actress was actually transgender, his brain had completely short-circuited. The degree of realism was so absolute that even the actor hadn't known during filming.

Rahul couldn't help but wonder—what if he accidentally triggered an ambiguous encounter with a "fully modified" one?

He quickly calmed himself down. Fortunately, the Karma System is strictly calibrated. It only assigns 100% biological, high-quality women.

The traffic cleared, and by the time the Grab pulled up to his hotel, it was already 2:30 AM.

The hotel Rahul had booked was located near Siam Square, sitting right in Bangkok's wealthy, bustling commercial district. To stretch his budget, Rahul had booked a clean, highly-rated three-star hotel. It cost him 1,000 Thai Baht per night, roughly ₹2,300. The best part was its flexible cancellation policy, allowing him to stay dynamic with his travel plans.

Rahul dragged his tired body through the sliding glass doors into the lobby.

Even though it was the dead of night, two receptionists were standing perfectly straight behind the sleek counter. Rahul immediately noted that the aesthetics of these receptionists were miles ahead of the burly girl who had tackled him in Bangladesh. While not supermodels, they were very pleasant to look at, wearing elegant, fitted uniforms.

Seeing Rahul approach, one of the receptionists immediately offered a graceful, traditional bow.

"Sawasdee kha," she greeted warmly, before switching to English. "Welcome to the Siam Space Hotel. Please show your passport and booking confirmation."

Rahul handed over his Indian passport. Seeing the nationality, the receptionist offered a polite, somewhat broken greeting.

"Namaste, sir."

Rahul pulled down his mask, activated the language module in his brain, and replied in flawless, native-sounding Thai.

"Sawasdee khrap. Thank you, and I can speak Thai."

The moment the two receptionists saw Rahul's striking, impossibly handsome face and heard his perfect local accent, their professional composure cracked. They reacted as if a Bollywood A-lister had just walked into their lobby.

"Wow... he's so handsome!" one whispered to the other in Thai, her eyes wide.

"He looks exactly like a young Hrithik Roshan!"

"And his Thai is so perfect!"

Rahul was stunned for a second, feeling a wave of amusement. Indian cinema had definitely carved out a solid market in Southeast Asia.

"Excuse me, ladies. Can I check in now? It's been a very long flight," Rahul said, flashing a charming smile to snap them out of their daze.

"Yes! Yes, of course. Just one moment, sir," the receptionist stuttered, blushing furiously as she typed on her keyboard. She enthusiastically handed his passport back.

"Mr. Rahul, I see you booked our standard double room. However, I have gone ahead and upgraded you to a Deluxe Suite on the top floor, completely free of charge."

Hearing that his room had been upgraded just for existing, Rahul thought to himself, Being ridiculously good-looking certainly has its perks!

The second receptionist eagerly encoded a keycard and handed it to Rahul with both hands, her eyes sparkling. "Here is your room card, sir."

Rahul took it and offered a smooth compliment.

"Khop khun khrap. Thank you. You two are incredibly beautiful tonight."

This casual, confident compliment instantly sent the two girls into a tailspin of pleasant surprise. If it hadn't been a professional environment, they would have likely squealed.

Rahul picked up his heavy backpack, ready to crash. But just as he turned away, one of the receptionists scurried out from behind the counter, reaching out to grab his bag with a shy, eager expression.

"Mr. Rahul, please, let me carry this and lead the way. The Deluxe Suites can be very tricky to find at this hour..."

Rahul didn't need the System to understand what she meant. Her eyes were practically screaming her intentions. Are the girls in Thailand really this forward?

While he appreciated the enthusiasm, he wasn't desperate enough to just jump at the first opportunity that presented itself. He had standards.

With a polite but righteous smile, Rahul gently declined her help, took his backpack, and quickly stepped into the elevator alone.
