A RING, A RIVAL, AND REDEMPTION
The morning sun poured into the glass walls of the Vale Group headquarters, bathing Hazel Vale's office in gold.
She stood by the window, one hand resting gently on her growing belly, the other holding a file she hadn't read in the last ten minutes.
Her thoughts weren't on work.
They were on him.
Lucian Black.
The man who had once been her greatest fear… had become her greatest certainty.
The door opened softly.
"Thinking about me again?" his deep voice teased.
Hazel turned, smiling as he stepped inside—tailored suit, dark aura, and that quiet intensity that still made her heart skip.
"Maybe," she replied, walking toward him. "Or maybe I was thinking about how much I need help before I collapse under all this responsibility."
Lucian's brow lifted slightly. "That doesn't sound like the Hazel I know."
She laughed softly. "Even strong women need support, Mr. Black."
She hesitated for a moment, then said,
"I want to employ Mira… as my personal assistant."
Lucian didn't even pause.
"Yes."
Hazel blinked. "That fast?"
He stepped closer, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "Mira stood by you when the world turned against you. Loyalty like that is rare. I trust your judgment… and I trust her."
Hazel's smile deepened, warmth filling her chest. "Thank you."
Lucian leaned in slightly, his voice dropping. "You never need permission from me, Hazel. You're building your own empire now."
An Unexpected Encounter
Later that afternoon, Hazel and Mira stepped into one of Ravencrest's most luxurious boutiques, laughter trailing behind them as they browsed through elegant dresses and jewelry.
Mira held up a sleek gown. "This one screams 'CEO who will ruin your life politely.'"
Hazel laughed. "Then I definitely need it."
But the laughter slowly faded when the atmosphere shifted.
A familiar presence.
A familiar face.
"Ivy Clarke."
Ivy stood a few steps away, dressed impeccably as always—but something was different. The arrogance, the sharp edge… it was gone.
For the first time since they had known her, Ivy looked… human.
Her eyes met Hazel's.
There was no hostility.
Only hesitation.
"I didn't expect to see you here," Ivy said quietly.
Mira crossed her arms slightly, instinctively protective. But Hazel placed a gentle hand on her arm.
"It's okay," she murmured.
Ivy took a slow step forward.
"I owe you an apology," she said. Her voice was steady—but her eyes betrayed her vulnerability.
Hazel said nothing, simply watching her.
"I was cruel. Jealous. Insecure," Ivy continued. "I thought power meant control… and I used it against you. But you…" she swallowed softly, "…you proved me wrong in every way."
Silence filled the boutique.
Then Hazel stepped forward.
"You hurt me," she said honestly. "But I'm not that girl anymore. And I don't carry hate forward."
Ivy nodded, relief flickering across her face.
"Thank you… for giving me a chance to say that."
Mira raised an eyebrow. "Well… that was unexpected."
Hazel smiled slightly. "People change."
Ivy exhaled, then surprised them both.
"Let me make it up to you," she said. "Lunch. My treat."
A Table of New Beginnings
The restaurant was elegant, quiet, and warm—filled with the soft clinking of glasses and low conversation.
For the first time, Hazel, Mira, and Ivy sat at the same table—not as enemies, but as women who had all changed in different ways.
"I'm getting married," Ivy said suddenly.
Mira nearly choked on her drink. "Wait—what?"
Hazel blinked in surprise. "That's… unexpected."
Ivy laughed softly. "I know. Life has a way of humbling you. He's… different. Not interested in power, not impressed by status. He sees me… without all the noise."
Hazel smiled gently. "That sounds like something real."
Ivy nodded. Then, after a pause, she looked at them both.
"I want you to come."
Mira pointed at herself. "Me?"
Hazel raised a brow. "You're inviting us… to your wedding?"
Ivy smiled—genuine this time.
"Yes. I'd like that."
Hazel exchanged a glance with Mira, then nodded.
"We'll come."
The Proposal
That night, Lucian asked Hazel to meet him at the rooftop of Black Global Empire.
When she arrived… she froze.
The entire rooftop had been transformed.
Soft lights. White roses. Candles flickering in the night air.
The city stretched endlessly behind it all, glowing like a galaxy beneath them.
Lucian stood in the center.
Waiting.
Hazel's heart pounded as she walked toward him. "Lucian… what is all this?"
He didn't answer immediately.
Instead, he reached for her hand, his grip firm yet gentle.
Then slowly…
He dropped to one knee.
The world stopped.
Lucian Black—cold, untouchable, powerful—was looking up at her with nothing but love in his eyes.
"Hazel Vale," he said, voice steady but filled with emotion,
"You walked into my life like chaos… and became my peace."
"You healed parts of me I didn't even know were broken."
"You stood beside me when I didn't deserve it."
"And you gave me something I never believed in…"
"Love."
He opened the small velvet box.
A ring—elegant, breathtaking, perfect.
"Marry me," he said softly.
"Be my partner. My strength. My home… forever."
Tears filled Hazel's eyes instantly.
Her hand trembled as she covered her mouth, overwhelmed.
"Yes," she whispered.
Then louder—
"Yes, Lucian… I will."
He stood, slipping the ring onto her finger before pulling her into a deep, emotional kiss.
The city below roared with life, but up there—
It was just them.
Two souls…
Bound not by darkness anymore—
But by love.
