Chapter 16 - Terms of Power

The room was silent.

Not calm.

Not relaxed.

Tense.

The man across the table leaned back slightly, studying Franko with a deeper look now.

This wasn't curiosity anymore.

This was evaluation.

"Access," he repeated.

The word lingered in the air.

Heavy.

"You walk into my space," he continued calmly,

"disrupt the market, then ask for access to everything I control…"

A faint smile formed.

"…and you expect me to agree?"

Franko didn't flinch.

"I expect you to understand," he said.

A pause.

"That I'm not asking."

Pressure Shifts

The atmosphere changed instantly.

One of the guards near the door adjusted slightly.

Not obvious.

But noticeable.

Amara said nothing.

She was watching closely now.

Because this…

Was no longer business talk.

The First Crack

The man's eyes narrowed slightly.

"Careful," he said.

Franko tilted his head just a little.

"You called this meeting," he replied.

Silence.

Then—

A low chuckle.

"You're either fearless…"

A pause.

"…or you don't understand where you are."

Franko finally leaned forward.

"No," he said quietly.

"I understand perfectly."

Something Changes

And then—

Something subtle happened.

For a brief moment…

Franko's vision shifted.

The room didn't disappear.

But over it—

Faint lines appeared.

Numbers.

Signals.

Possibilities.

Like a system trying to surface.

[Prediction Sync Activated…]

[Analyzing Outcome Paths…]

It lasted less than a second.

Then it was gone.

Franko's expression didn't change.

But inside—

He understood.

It was back.

Control Through Knowledge

"You're losing ground," Franko said calmly.

The man frowned slightly.

"That's incorrect," he replied.

Franko shook his head.

"No," he said.

"Your eastern division collapses in six days."

Silence.

Real silence.

Amara's eyes shifted slightly.

Because this—

Was new.

"You're guessing again," the man said.

Franko looked directly at him.

"I don't guess."

Impact

This time…

The words hit differently.

Because now—

There was something behind them.

Something heavier.

Testing the Line

"And if you're wrong?" the man asked.

Franko didn't hesitate.

"Then you lose nothing."

A pause.

"But if I'm right…"

His voice lowered slightly.

"You lose everything tied to that division."

Now It's Real

The man's fingers tapped lightly on the table.

Once.

Twice.

Thinking.

Calculating.

This was no longer a simple conversation.

This was risk.

And opportunity.

Turning Point

"What do you want in return?" he asked.

Franko leaned back now.

Finally.

"Not access," he said.

A pause.

"Partnership."

Shock

Even Amara turned slightly at that.

Because that wasn't bold anymore.

That was direct entry into power.

A New Level

The man stared at him for a long moment.

Then smiled.

Slowly.

"Interesting," he said.

Very interesting.

Still Rising

Franko stood.

Not rushed.

Not pressured.

Just controlled.

Because he already knew—

This conversation…

Had already shifted.

And this time—

He wasn't catching up.

He was ahead.
