The night was colder than before.
But this time…
They weren't running.
Amina sat on the ground, her back against a broken wall outside the tunnel.
Her breathing was finally steady.
Her eyes… different.
Calm.
Focused.
Dangerous.
Adam was beside her, still injured but conscious.
Watching her.
"You're quiet," he said.
She didn't look at him.
"I'm thinking."
"That's never a good sign."
A small pause.
Then
"For them," she said.
Silence.
Amina finally turned her head.
Her eyes locked with his.
"We've been running since the beginning."
"Yes."
"They erased my memory."
"Yes."
"They tried to kill me."
"Yes."
She stood up slowly.
Ignoring the pain.
"Then why are we still reacting?"
Adam watched her carefully.
"What are you saying?"
Amina stepped closer.
"We stop reacting."
Pause.
"We start attacking."
The words landed heavy.
Real.
Final.
Adam didn't answer immediately.
He studied her face.
Looking for doubt.
But there was none.
"They're stronger than us," he said.
"I know."
"They have resources."
"I know."
"They know you."
"I know."
Silence.
Then
"That's exactly why we win."
Something in her voice changed.
Not emotion.
Not fear.
Strategy.
"How?" Adam asked quietly.
Amina looked away for a second.
Thinking.
Then
"I remember places."
His expression changed.
"What kind of places?"
"Facilities. Safe houses. Data centers."
Adam straightened slightly.
"That's big."
"Yes."
She stepped closer again.
"Everything they have…"
Pause.
"…I've seen it."
Silence.
Heavy.
"You're saying we go after them directly?" he asked.
Amina nodded.
"We hit them where it hurts."
Adam let out a slow breath.
"You're serious."
She looked at him.
"I've never been more serious."
A long silence followed.
Then
Adam pushed himself up slowly.
Pain visible.
But he stood.
"Okay," he said.
Amina frowned slightly.
"That was fast."
He looked at her.
"You came back for me."
Pause.
"I'm not saying no to you again."
Something in her expression softened.
Just for a second.
Then—
Focus again.
"There's one place," she said.
"Where?"
"A data facility."
Adam's eyes narrowed.
"What kind of data?"
Amina's voice lowered.
"Everything."
Pause.
"Agents. Operations…"
Her eyes darkened slightly.
"…identities."
Silence.
Adam understood immediately.
"If we get that…"
"We destroy them."
Amina nodded.
"Or at least…"
Pause.
"…we make them bleed."
For the first time
Adam smiled slightly.
"That sounds like you."
She looked at him.
"Not anymore."
Pause.
"Better."
Silence.
Then
Amina stepped closer.
Her hand reached his arm.
Gently.
"You shouldn't be standing."
He didn't move away.
"You shouldn't be fighting."
She almost smiled.
"Too late for both of us."
A moment passed.
Quiet.
Close.
Then
Her voice softened.
"Are you sure you can do this?"
Adam looked at her.
Serious.
"I've been doing this my whole life."
Pause.
"But this time…"
He stepped closer.
"…I have something to fight for."
That hit deeper than expected.
Amina didn't look away.
"And what's that?"
His voice lowered.
"You."
Silence.
For a second
Everything slowed again.
Amina's hand moved slightly.
From his arm…
to his hand.
Holding it.
Firm.
Real.
"Don't say things like that," she whispered.
"Why?"
"Because I might believe you."
Adam stepped closer.
"So believe me."
Their eyes locked.
No lies.
No confusion.
Just truth.
Amina's breath slowed.
Then
She leaned in.
This time
The kiss wasn't rushed.
Not desperate.
But deep.
Certain.
Like a promise.
When they pulled apart
Her voice was steady again.
"We move tonight."
Adam nodded.
"No more running."
Amina looked into the darkness ahead.
Cold.
Focused.
Ready.
"No…"
She said quietly.
"We hunt them now."
