Chapter 17 - 17- Unexpected guests and The Crimson’s plan

Kriday's POV

We reached the Varma residence by 11 in the night and we found two strangers on the couch, a middle aged man and a woman .

"Anusha and Rajiv!" Shruti auntie made her way to the front, her eyes widened as she didn't expect anyone in the house, "What are you doing here?! You ain't supposed to be here!"

Amudha pushes Indeever, runs up to them, "Amma, Appa," she hugs them, "I missed you so much!"

"Amudha," Indeever whined, getting up clutching his arm, " Please check your surroundings when your emotional state is a disaster like mine at when that suspicious guy pranks me." He pointed at Tejesh and turned to her, " You are hitting people and things like how Sachin crashed into the wedding in Premalu."

Amudha tells her parents about Indeever as they look at him wide eyed and confused when he started to imitate the car crash scene in Premalu.

"And he's —", Amudha looks at him a bit disappointed, " An idiot who tries to be cool but ends up roasted like this."

Indeever stops the act the looks at Amudha, surprised yet defeated as Ishaan gets a call from his parents that they have reached Bangalore with his cousins.

I think they took a flight, I mean, would they reach Bangalore that fast by car or train as it took us around 9-10 hours to reach Kakinada by car ?Obviously they took a flight.

"How is Madhavan uncle?" Irasvan uncle asked Anusha auntie.

"Oh Anna!" She turned to him, " He is completely healthy."

She looks at me, " Kriday, You look like your mother but you have your father's eyes."

Her eyes darts to Tejesh as she talks with Srinivas uncle and Suhani auntie.

They froze up as she notices him.

"Who is that guy?" Anusha auntie and Rajiv uncle pointed at him in unison.

Aarush introduced Tejesh to them and explained that he is a close family friend of Viraansh who became a part of his family.

They shook his hand in confusion.

" Did we meet before?", Rajiv uncle whispered, " You look familiar."

" Maybe, you saw me at the Das residence with Viraansh?" Tejesh replied, " I spent most of my time there."

They nodded in agreement, still in confusion.

Well, later they realised that they were imagining things as Tejesh started to open up on his friendship with Viraansh.

Shiva's POV

Those brats went to Bhubaneswar. They should return anytime now.

I started to walk to the residence as I get a notification from Vijaya:

"Mam wants you to not to spy on the Varma residence. She wants to meet you."

As I read it, I let out a heavy sigh, rolling my eyes as I processed it.

I don't get Mam's intentions for this change in plan.

Vijaya sent a location and asked me to come there.

** ***

I reached the location that Vijaya sent.

It's of Mam's taste— a very old , abandoned place.

I walked in coughing because there was a lot of dust as Vijaya was cleaning up the room and Mam sitting in the chair staring at a photo in her hand.

"Seems like a lot of work needs to be done." I waved my hand to disperse the dust particles, I dusted my cloak and straightened my spine, " What's on you mind, Mam?"

Mam looks up, " I was thinking of ways to kill them." She walks up to me, " What if we kill the oldest child in the Das family as he has powers which are a threat to our plan."

She makes me sit on the couch, " Think about it, he is mentally dead on the thought of his brother dying. It will be easier to kill him using that sentiment."

My eyes narrowed, mouth slightly open, " That Das child— isn't he the person we saw covered in blood?"

Mam nodded, " His name is Viraansh, I think."

"But he is—" Vijaya covered my mouth before I could complete my sentence.

" We left him die there," Vijaya whispers, "Didn't we tell you that part?", She takes her hand back, " Besides, saving him was a waste option.", She wipes her hand in disgust, " But we collected some of his blood so that his ability doesn't go to waste."

Well— that's shocking , considering that they thought of saving him, maybe it's a part of Mam's plan to make killing that Aarush bastard easier.

Mam went to another room to have her meal, A raw chicken and a pack of Human blood.

I noticed the photo on her desk and looked at it with Vijaya peeking over my shoulder to look at it.

It was a Black and White photo of Mam before she was turned into what she is now.

In that photo, she was with her husband and young mistress who was a year or two hugging her mom tightly and Mam's husband had his arm wrapped around Mam's shoulder and his another hand on young mistress's back for support.

"She looks so happy with her husband and young mistress, right Shiva?" Vijaya takes the photo from me, " Young mistress looks like her father."

If Mam's husband hasn't driven her out, all of this would not happen.

Ishaan's POV

Anusha auntie made us dinner. It was of many varieties like Sambar, Potato fry and Chicken Biriyani.

We all had a heavy feast, laughing till our stomach hurt.

One thing I realised during the trip to Bhubaneswar is that, the soulmate strings can change.

I noticed that my parents now share the same soulmate string, which they don't.

Shruti auntie even said that it was possible as the people grow a deeper understanding and eventually form a bond stronger than that of they were supposed to have with their destined soulmate.

"By the way," I wash my hand as Anusha auntie comes for a glass of water, " How is Madhvan Thata?"

She replied that he is doing well.

" I have a doubt, auntie." I turn to her, "What is your mom's name? I never knew her."

Auntie's face screamed sadness, "My mom's name is Shambhavi, she passed away when I was 12 years old." She turns to me, " Go to sleep, Ishaan, you have a journey tomorrow."

"What journey! I just came back from one!" I sighed, "To where are we supposed to go?"

"To Madgaon, Kriday's hometown." Aunt blurted out as if it was a known situation.

Just then, Kriday entered, "Madgaon, Why we should go there?" Kriday washes his hands pushing me lightly, " I don't wanna go there due to the fire incident."

(Thatha means grandpa in most of the South Indian languages )
