Chapter 20 - Banquet(1)

Fuck, a banquet. I'd rather not show up to these—completely pointless. But if Father said it, then there's no choice.

So I'm going. No other option.

In the morning we gathered and took the train to the capital. Magical engineering in this world is surprisingly well developed.

We arrived fairly quickly without any incidents. Immediately, we headed to our capital estate. This is where we would prepare for the banquet.

The preparations were fast. I was already dressed in noble velvet attire.

Uncomfortable as hell. But still no choice.

My sister didn't come. Only my mother, father, and I were present.

I was basically dragged here—probably because I'll be in the same class as the princess.

How little I care about this.

I just want to train, not waste time on useless banquets. I'm already used to training anyway.

And so we entered the banquet hall.

We arrived among the first. Inside were already many noble heirs from various families.

I immediately moved to a quiet corner and slowly sipped wine from my glass, scanning the room for important figures.

Among them, I noticed Leon Luminoris. A green-eyed blond, about 180 cm tall, athletic build.

I knew little about him—he appeared briefly in the story and was removed early for reasons I didn't know.

But I knew one thing—he was strong.

Second Rank mage.

I noted immediately.

If I remember the story, he dies fairly early. Maybe I should intervene. A light mage on my side is an obvious advantage.

I looked away. Staring too long would be improper.

I continued scanning.

Then my gaze fell on a girl.

Slender, about 175 cm tall, white hair, blue eyes, pale almost porcelain skin. And striking beauty.

I recognized her instantly.

Cecilia Eldristan.

My fiancée.

Or rather, the fiancée to whom the original Viren had brought shame.

It doesn't matter who did it—it's irrelevant now.

What matters is that she is stronger than me. Possibly even with magic included.

I quickly looked away.

I didn't need her noticing me.

Fortunately, she didn't.

It feels good just sitting in silence.

I kept observing.

Then I saw a man.

Brown hair, lean build, about 170 cm tall.

I recognized him immediately.

Elion Drakmor—the future antagonist of Star Swordmaster.

Even Adam barely posed a challenge to him. He killed an ancient royal monster of rank 8 while being only rank 6 himself.

And yes—he is on the demon side.

I recalled his story.

His fighting style was unusual. He had gravity affinity, allowing him to slow opponents and control the battlefield.

Later, he became a sniper-type fighter using a strange artifact pistol that accelerated earth spells.

In short, a magical sniper system.

He didn't just shoot—he used telekinesis to accelerate projectiles to insane speeds.

I have no idea how anyone came up with that.

After that, the story barely mentioned what happened to him.

Only one thing was clear—the reason for his betrayal.

And that was his father.

Head of the earth-mage noble house—Kern Drakmor.

A typical, filthy story.

Kern raped Elion's mother. Elion was born.

The grandfather ordered them both to be taken into the family.

Elion turned out to be a genius. Easily memorized theory, easily awakened his Sea of Consciousness.

Meanwhile, Kern's own children couldn't even awaken it.

In response, Kern beat Elion's mother to death.

And Elion decided he would kill him at any cost.

If I remember correctly—the contract is already signed. No way back.

I will kill him.

My killing intent almost leaked out.

Finally, everyone arrived.

The main part of the banquet begins.
