Chapter 481 - Chapter 469 Atraken dragon part 2

**Chapter 469**

**The Atraken Gambit – Part 2**

**Scene 1**

**Atraken – Republic Forward Command Bunker**

Lieutenant Corporal Brendol Hux wiped sweat and dust from his brow as another artillery shell impacted nearby, shaking the entire bunker. Dust rained from the ceiling, and the emergency lights flickered ominously. He had been stationed on Atraken for five long, brutal months. What was supposed to be a swift campaign had turned into one of the longest and bloodiest battles of the Clone Wars.

Hux had joined the Grand Army of the Republic as a junior officer early in the conflict. He had admired the clone troopers — their discipline, their loyalty, their combat prowess. He had even respected the Jedi Generals who led them, watching as they turned raw strategy into something almost poetic on the battlefield.

Now, that admiration was being tested to its limit.

"Commander Stone," Hux called out, voice steady despite the chaos. "Status report."

The emerald-armored Clone Marshal Commander of the 127th Scout Corps turned from the tactical holotable. His helmet was scratched and dented, but his posture remained ramrod straight.

"Not good, sir," Stone replied. "The Separatists have orbital superiority. Our position is about to be overrun. We're the furthest forward element holding this sector. We're protecting the line until the Jedi forces on the western continent can reinforce us. Estimated arrival: four hours, if they make it through the blockade."

Hux clenched his jaw. *Four hours.* They might not have four minutes.

The bunker shook again as another barrage landed. Reports flooded in — droid columns advancing under heavy AAT support, droidekas rolling forward in unbreakable phalanxes, and Separatist gunships making low-level strafing runs.

"Great," Hux muttered under his breath. "Trapped. Just great."

He looked at the holomap. Their position was a salient — a dangerous bulge in the line that the Separatists were hammering from three sides. If this bunker fell, the entire northern front could collapse.

Stone's voice cut through the noise. "Sir, we're detecting multiple Republic signatures dropping out of hyperspace. They're engaging the Separatist blockade."

Hux's head snapped up. "Show me."

The holomap updated. New blue icons appeared in orbit — a powerful Republic task force.

**Atraken Orbit**

The *Gray Wolf* led the charge.

Dagon stood on the bridge, black-armored arm resting on the railing, the red star in his left eye glowing with anticipation. "All ships, weapons free. Target the Lucrehulks first. Lancers, clear the fighter screen."

The Separatist fleet reacted immediately — 8 Munificent-class frigates and 3 Lucrehulk-class battleships (C-variant) turned to face the new threat. The Munificents were fast, lightly armored warships measuring 825 meters long, designed to operate in squadrons. Their armament included heavy turbolasers, ion cannons, and dozens of lighter batteries.

The Lucrehulk C-variants were far more dangerous — 3,000-meter behemoths with reinforced armament: 42 quad turbolaser batteries on the ring carrier, 164 point-defense quad lasers, 472 laser cannons, and heavy core ship weaponry. They were floating fortresses.

They didn't last long.

The *Gray Wolf* opened fire with its XX-10 ultra-heavy turbolasers and Kyber-modified reactors feeding raw power into the batteries. The first Lucrehulk's dovin basals strained and failed under the concentrated barrage. Its massive ring structure cracked, then shattered as secondary explosions rippled across its hull.

Admiral Piett on the *Hood* and Admiral Brom on the *Valiant* followed suit, their ships tearing into the remaining battleships with coordinated broadsides.

Meanwhile, the modified Arquitens-class command cruisers unleashed their upgraded XX-10 turbolasers and proton torpedo salvos, shredding the Munificent frigates. The lighter CIS ships tried to maneuver, but the Republic's superior range and firepower turned the engagement into a slaughter.

Lancer-class frigates darted through the chaos like wolves, their anti-fighter batteries and concussion missile launchers eliminating swarms of Vulture droids and Hyena bombers.

From the bridge of the *Gray Wolf*, Dagon watched the battle unfold with cold satisfaction. "Several Vultures just jumped to hyperspace. That's strange — they're abandoning the fight early."

He keyed his comm. "Fleet Admiral Dittmar, make sure those Vultures are tracked and collected if possible. I want to know where they're going."

"Understood, General," Dittmar replied. "Pursuit squadrons launching now."

Below, on the surface, the Republic troops cheered as the Separatist orbital support evaporated. The tide of the battle had turned in minutes.

Dagon allowed himself a small, grim smile. "Now… let's go save this planet."

**Scene 3**

**Atraken Surface – Republic Forward Bunker**

Brendol Hux watched the orbital engagement on the holomap with wide eyes. One moment the Separatists dominated the skies. The next, a powerful Republic task force had torn through their fleet like it was tissue paper.

"Sir," Commander Stone reported, voice filled with relief, "the blockade is broken. Republic reinforcements are landing across multiple sectors. The western Jedi forces are pushing forward again."

Hux exhaled slowly. "Thank the stars. Who's leading that fleet?"

Stone checked the ident codes. "General Dagon Marek, sir. Darkstar Legion."

Hux's eyebrows rose. "Marek… the starkiller himself."

Even out here, on this hellish world, the name carried weight. Stories of Ryloth, of Zygerria, of impossible victories against overwhelming odds had reached even this isolated battlefield.

Hux straightened his uniform. "Inform all units. The Starkiller has arrived. We hold this line until his forces link up with us."

As fresh hope spread through the bunker, Hux allowed himself a small smile.

Maybe Atraken could still be saved.
