Normally, Ryan would have been spending his evening with Vivian. But she was spending the night at her apartment hanging out with Amy. When she had informed Ryan of this, her worry that she would be leaving him on his own clear, he had rushed to reassure her, telling her that she need not worry since he would be spending time with Mark, that they had a thing to do.
Good woman that she was, Vivian had just told him to have fun.
