Chapter 36 - Chapter 35

The locker room didn't feel the same anymore.

The noise had died down.

Not completely.

But enough.

Yuma wasn't shouting anymore. Sora wasn't laughing on the floor. Even Kaito had stopped tapping his foot.

Everything had slowed.

Because of one thing.

"…What do you mean by evolve the team?"

Riku's voice wasn't loud.

But it cut through everything.

Yusuke sat there for a second.

Thinking.

Not searching for words.

Just deciding how to say it.

Then he leaned forward slightly, resting his elbows on his knees.

"…Right now," he started, "we're just trying to win the next game."

No one interrupted.

"…We adjust. We react. We survive."

A pause.

"…And it works."

Hiroto nodded slightly.

"…Yeah."

"But that's it," Yusuke continued.

"That's where it stops."

Takumi's eyes narrowed just a little.

"…Go on."

Yusuke glanced around the room.

At everyone.

One by one.

"…That last play."

"…That wasn't just us reacting."

"…That was something else."

Riku leaned back slightly, arms resting on his knees.

"…Yeah."

"…We moved together," Yusuke said.

"…Not because we planned it."

"…But because we understood it."

Another pause.

The room was quieter now.

Not tense.

Just focused.

"…That's what I mean by evolving," Yusuke said.

Kaito finally spoke.

"…So what, we just do that again?"

Yusuke shook his head.

"…No."

"…We make that normal."

That line hit harder.

Even Yuma didn't have anything to say.

Hiroto looked up.

"…You're saying we stay at that level?"

"…Yeah."

"…Every game?"

"…Every moment."

Takumi pushed himself off the wall slightly.

"…That's not easy."

"I know."

"…That's not realistic."

Yusuke didn't look away.

"…It is if we push for it."

A pause.

Then

"…And if we do that…"

Yusuke's voice didn't change.

But the meaning behind it did.

"…We don't just win here."

That caught attention.

All of it.

"…What do you mean?"

That came from Sora this time, sitting up properly now.

Yusuke looked straight ahead.

"…We go further."

Silence.

"…Further how?" Hiroto asked.

Yusuke didn't hesitate this time.

"…We stop thinking small."

"…We stop thinking about just this place."

"…Just these matches."

He looked at Riku again.

"…We aim higher."

Kaito scoffed slightly.

"…Higher?"

"…Yeah."

Yusuke's eyes sharpened.

"…Playing for the country."

That landed.

Hard.

No one spoke.

"…Live matches."

"…Crowds."

"…People watching."

"…People arguing over who's better."

His gaze moved across the room again.

"…Real competition."

"…Real pressure."

"…Not just this."

Complete silence now.

Even the background noise outside felt distant.

Yuma blinked.

"…You're serious."

"…Yeah."

Sora laughed once.

But it wasn't mocking.

"…That's… insane."

"…Maybe," Yusuke said.

"…But so was what we just did."

That shut it down.

Hiroto leaned back slowly.

"…He's not wrong."

Takumi crossed his arms again.

Thinking.

"…If we could do that consistently…"

"…We'd be dangerous anywhere."

Ren spoke from the side.

"…Anywhere."

Daichi nodded once.

"…Not just here."

Yuma sat up fully now.

"…Wait…"

He pointed at Yusuke.

"…You're saying we could actually go pro level?"

Yusuke shrugged slightly.

"…If we're good enough."

Kaito let out a short breath.

"…Tch."

Everyone looked at him.

"…You're all acting like this is crazy."

He stood up slowly.

"…But it's not."

A pause.

"…If we're aiming for anything…"

His eyes shifted to Yusuke.

"…Might as well aim there."

Sora grinned slightly.

"…Now you're talking."

Hiroto shook his head.

"…This is getting out of hand."

"…No," Takumi said.

"…It's getting focused."

Another pause.

The room felt different now.

Not relaxed.

Not just a team that had won a match.

Something else.

Something bigger.

Yusuke didn't push it further.

Didn't force anything.

He had said what he needed to say.

Now it was up to them.

One by one

you could see it.

The shift.

Not loud.

Not dramatic.

Just small changes.

Hiroto sat a little straighter.

Sora stopped smiling as much.

Takumi's eyes sharpened.

Yuma leaned forward.

Kaito didn't look away.

Riku stayed still.

Quiet.

Thinking.

Processing everything.

Then

he stood up.

Slowly.

Everyone looked at him.

Riku looked at Yusuke.

For a second

nothing.

Then

"…I'm in."

No hesitation.

No joke.

No half answer.

Just that.

Yusuke nodded once.

"…Good."
