Chapter 2 - chapter 2 The Boy Who Waited for Love

Arjun was not like other boys. While his friends spent their time chasing popularity, showing off on social media, or trying to impress everyone, Arjun believed in something simple — real love. The kind that doesn't fade, doesn't change, and doesn't need to be proven every day.

He lived in a small town, where life moved slowly and people knew each other by name. Arjun was quiet, kind, and thoughtful. He loved reading books, watching sunsets, and writing small notes in his diary about life and dreams.

But there was one thing missing in his life — someone to share those moments with.

One day, everything changed.

A new girl joined his college. Her name was Meera.

She wasn't the loudest or the most popular girl, but there was something about her. Her smile felt calm, like the first rain after a hot summer day. The way she talked, the way she listened, it all felt… real.

Arjun noticed her from the first day, but he didn't rush. He just observed quietly.

Days passed. Weeks turned into months.

They slowly became friends.

It started with simple conversations — about classes, books, and life. Then it turned into longer talks, shared laughter, and silent understanding. Arjun never tried to impress her with big words or fake confidence. He just stayed himself.

And Meera liked that.

One evening, they sat together on the college terrace, watching the sunset. The sky was painted in shades of orange and pink.

"Do you believe in love?" Meera asked softly.

Arjun smiled a little.

"Yes… but I think real love is rare. People don't wait for it anymore."

Meera looked at him. "And you? Will you wait?"

Arjun paused for a moment.

"I already am."

There was silence between them — but it wasn't awkward. It was peaceful.

That day, something changed.

Their bond grew stronger. They started spending more time together. Arjun would bring her favorite snacks. Meera would save a seat for him in class. They didn't say anything directly, but their actions spoke louder than words.

But love is never easy.

One day, Meera told him she might have to leave the town because of her father's job transfer.

It felt like the ground slipped under Arjun's feet.

He smiled and said, "That's good… new place, new opportunities."

But inside, his heart was breaking.

The last day came.

They stood near the bus stop. The same place where they had once laughed together.

"I'll miss you," Meera said.

Arjun nodded. "Me too."

There were a thousand things he wanted to say. That he loved her. That she was the reason his life felt beautiful. That he had been waiting for someone like her all along.

But he stayed silent.

Because sometimes, love is not about holding on.

It's about letting go.

The bus arrived.

Meera got in.

Before the bus left, she looked at him and said —

"Arjun… you were not just a friend."

And then she left.

Years passed.

Arjun never forgot her. He continued living his life, but a part of him always stayed in that moment.

One day, while walking through a crowded city street, someone called his name.

"Arjun?"

He turned.

It was Meera.

Older, wiser, but the same smile.

They both stood there, surprised… and happy.

"Still waiting?" she asked playfully.

Arjun smiled, this time with confidence.

"Maybe… for the right person."

Meera looked into his eyes.

"Good. Because I came back."

And in that moment, Arjun realized something —

True love doesn't rush. It waits. It leaves. And if it's real, it comes back.
