Chapter 24 - The Executioner's Final Shift

FWOOSH!

Ying vanished without wasting another moment.

SHUNK! KRA-THOOM!!

Ying suddenly appeared above Jin and punched him directly in the face, breaking his rectangular glasses.

"Should I go easy on you?" Ying asked with a smirk, which suddenly turned into a look of shock.

KLAK! KLAK! KLAK! KLAK!

Three fingers of Ying's hand, along with the fingertip of his index finger, fell to the ground.

"Guess you weren't asking 'cause it is your only choice left," Jin said, his nose bleeding.

"All this by a ring finger with a big nail," Ying said in utter shock.

"Oh yeah, it would have been different with a weapon, but yeah, this works," Jin said.

"I don't think a weapon would have made a difference," Ying said as his fist was a centimeter away from punching Jin.

THOOOM!

Completely breaking Jin's nose and launching him into the other wall had made Ying's animal lust for killing much bigger.

ZRAK!

With an instant burst of speed, Jin, with his palm open, tried to grab Ying's face, but...

TOK.

"Seriously." Jin patted his head as his hand only covered Ying's mouth.

"It was only then I realized," Ying said to himself in such a way no one else could hear.

"He is just like the SUPREME ARSENAL!" Ying shouted.

VRAASH!

Ying launched a direct punch to Jin's face again, but...

JAB!

Jin moved with lightning-fast speed, and with a sudden finger thrust, he was successful in blinding Ying for a moment.

"Biongi!?" Ying said in utter shock.

[Ying's Thoughts]

There is no way he performed that technique at this age. He definitely is not a human, as he said; he has supernatural powers. I must give everything I have to win this fight.

CHAK!

Without holding back, using his full strength, Ying tried to cut Jin in half with his butcher knife.

PAK!

With a sudden movement, Ying's hand was slapped away by Jin.

If you had to understand Ying's condition at that time...

At that moment, Ying was seeing the God of Death himself coming to take him away...

In…

"Pak Sao? This isn't possible at all." Ying thought he said that out loud, but in his fear, these words only echoed in his brain.

The form of...

YANK!

Jin grabbed Ying's deflected wrist and pulled him towards himself.

KRAUM!!!!

Jin coated his moving leg with his cyan-colored flux.

But the moment he did, there came a sound of a dying god—the sound that comes whenever flux is coated on any living or non-living thing.

DHAK!

Jin's flux-coated leg connected directly to Ying's shin bone, which to Ying felt like an airplane crashing into his shin.

"Jeet Tek!? This isn't Wing Chun, this is Jeet Kune Do, and the way you executed it, you are a bigger monster than me!" Ying said, remembering all the cruelty that happened to him.

Yet the true cruelty was not that which had already happened; it was that the God of Death had finally arrived for Ying. It was the devastatingly familiar form He took...

...He took the form of JIN.

HRAAH... HRAAH...

Jin's breathing was fast, his heart beating at an unimaginable speed.

"You compared me to the supreme arsenal, but don't you know what they call me?" Jin said, soaked in sweat.

"Well, that's a shame, 'cause my people call me The Absolute Weapon," Jin said, distracting Ying.

[Jin's Thoughts]

A normal human—he definitely isn't a normal human. If I hadn't covered my leg with flux, my shin would have shattered. He is too powerful to be a human.

"Did you say you know the supreme arsenal?" Air was violently stolen from the lungs of Ying.

ZII! KCHT!

Jin instantly, ignoring Ying's words, stabbed the cyan-coated pencil from before directly into Ying's shoulder.

SHLAK!

A sudden fountain of blood erupted from the stab wound and fell onto Jin's cheek. With that, his smile completely vanished.

Revealing...

[Ying's Thoughts]

Where did the sarcastic and teasing smile go? Where is that boy who came here? Who is this cold, calculating creature?

The boy who was titled...

THE ABSOLUTE WEAPON.

"Pick your weapon, heal yourself, do anything, but now we are gonna do this fast," Jin said, standing up.

KWOOM!

Ying slapped the air in Jin's direction, launching him out of the building.

"Executioner - Second Sentence," Ying said, completely ignoring the injuries and pain.

"This is me opening this phase for the second time in my whole life. I will lose all my sanity if this becomes long, and I am scared for that boy if I use the final sentence unwillingly..." Ying couldn't complete his sentence.

"Huh!" Ying's ears twitched.

"What is this sound?" Ying closed his eyes to focus.

[Ying's Thoughts]

Due to my heightened senses, I can feel it. Jin is cutting a length of a metal conduit pipe, maybe to serve the purpose of a rigid spine for a weapon.

"He is tightly wrapping a carbon-steel strap along the leading edge, anchoring it at the hilt and tip." Ying opened his eyes in shock.

"No! If I am right..." Ying said as he turned towards the open-eyed, unconscious body of Lucian.

"I need to make this unconscious boy my hostage in case of any emergency," Ying said as he walked towards Lucian.

"By applying precise mechanical tension to the strap, that boy, Jin, created a rigid, razor-sharp, lightweight sword with the exact profile and reach of a katana," Ying said in a hurry.

SHRRAAAK!

Before Ying's foot could land on the floor towards Lucian, a clean white line of an artistic cut from that genius's own creation crafted the annihilation of the floor.

KRRR-KRAK!

Before Ying's body could react, the unfinished floor's structure gave way.

KRA-THOOM!!

KRA-THOOM!!

DOOOOOOOM!!

"I thought that artistic cut was meant for the floor beneath us. How foolish. To my utter surprise, Jin hadn't choreographed the collapse of a single level. He had drawn the eradication of the entire building."

"Alive, uncle?" Jin asked.

KRRRRRR-THOOOOOOOOM!!

Ying busted out from under the weight of the enormous debris he was buried beneath.

"I can't believe the fact that in a matter of a few minutes, I am on the verge of witnessing my absolute peak," Ying said, licking his own blood off his hand.

"This fast? I honestly thought this fight would last a few more rounds. But what was I thinking? A guy like him was always bound to be an open-and-shut case," Jin teased Ying.

"KYAHAHAHAHA!!" Ying just laughed, with no sanity left in himself.

"You should have thought before burying me beneath the weight of 7 floors," Ying said, with his tongue out.

"Only 7!? I thought you were buried beneath the weight of the whole building," Jin said, standing up.

VRAAAAAK-KSHOOOOON!!

While speaking madly, Ying just moved his butcher knife; it not only cut the air, but it moved with such absurd acceleration that even Jin was surprised.

Then suddenly...

Ying's upper body dropped, his hands hung loose, and the blood from his head reached the floor directly.

Then slowly…

He raised his head, his pupils violently dilated and unblinking. As his teeth clattered to the ground and his hands turned purple, his intentions bled to grey.

As his left hand touched his head, the hair on his head fell down all at once.

"This is getting out of hand. That creature definitely isn't human either, because I have never fought a human this strong," Jin mumbled to himself.

"If only..." Jin was interrupted.

"You are way more handthome than I thought in thith thtyle," Ying complimented Jin without his teeth.

(You are way more handsome than I thought in this style)

"Your thhirt ith attached to your body only by the collar button, flying in the flow of the air," Ying continued.

(Your shirt is attached to your body only by the collar button)

"But your abth, your muthlet tell a ditherent thtory. You mutht not be twelve," Ying said, standing straight.

(But your abs, your muscles tell a different story. You must not be twelve.)

"If you are done, maybe we shouldddddddddddddd...

...startttt." Jin's mouth movements and his words became so slow that Ying started hearing one word more than once.

FWOOSH! KRAAANG!!

Jin's self-made katana and Ying's butcher knife met for the first time as Ying made a surprise attack on Jin's back.

"Executioner - Final sentence," Ying said in the tone of a madman or an animal.

"Oh! So the lisper is back to normal," Jin mocked the animal Ying had become.

"Does that even matter if you just have to die now?" Ying came very, very close to Jin's face, his tongue out like a wild animal.

Riiiiip... schlorp

Before Jin could react, Ying, with his new sharp teeth, tore the skin on Jin's forehead.

As Jin's own blood reached his eyes, his serious expression changed into a dark one.

WHUD-ACK!

Before Jin could react, with the same animal-like movement, Ying kicked Jin in the gut.

Being naked on his upper body, the kick landed on Jin's gut like before, but...

The kick not only launched him, but it instantly turned the attacked area dark blue.

"So we are here right now." A voice echoed from behind Jin, from behind the smoke that arose before from the destruction of 7 floors.

"Ah! Damn it, Toma, don't interrupt. I am trying to do something," Jin said with a cold expression.

"You think you can defeat me?" Ying mocked Jin as he lunged forward.

"Your genius is limited to making this weak katana's prototype; you can't handle me at this time." Ying raised his hand to cut Jin down the middle.

"Huh..." Ying's expression changed.

The butcher knife he was using to sever Jin's body was now twisted, and its sharp end was directly pointing at his own neck.

And mid-air, jumping and twisting his wrist to do so, was KUROGANE JIN himself, with the half-broken katana halfway to severing Ying's neck.

TSHIIK! KRRK!

Before Jin's katana reached Ying's neck, Ying broke his own hand and took the attack on his palm.

"If it wasn't for the limiter, I would have cut you into a million pieces by now," Jin said with a completely calm expression.

Limiter.

An enforced restriction placed upon Arcanists under eighteen. Those allowed to travel the Earth independently are bound by a limiter that suppresses their power to match that of an average human.

GRRAK!!

The longer the fight went on, the more of an animal Ying became. With a punch, Ying shattered Jin's ribs.

At this point, three things happened.

First...

"He is just a human after all," Ying said, mocking Jin.

Second...

"With a limiter, I could defeat any human, but he is not a human," Jin mumbled to himself.

Third...

TCHK!

TOMA opened his eyes.

SHNK!

His pupils divided into three parts, making two crescent moons.

VHMMM.

"Although I don't need your help," Jin said, his lips turning slightly upwards.

"But if the original credit thief is stepping onto the field after so long... brother TOMA, I have no problem," Jin said with a smirk.

"Sorry, Uncle. But sadly, this is your last shift. To be precise... the Executioner's final shift," Jin said with a smirk.
