"Your eyes… they are beautiful," she muttered while staring at his eyes. The emperor was even in shock. This girl was looking him right in the eyes.
He released her and walked past her, going near the pool.
"Can you see me?" Samara asked while looking at her in surprise.
"Yeah. Am I not supposed to?" she asked with raised eyebrows. Samara looked so surprised. She just stared at the emperor in the eyes and she was okay. She wasn't told she had seen a few people go blind after seeing the emperor.
"I will be going now," Arizona said and started hopping away.
"Come back here!" Samara yelled. She was feeling a lot of anger at the moment. The fact that she couldn't even look at the emperor's eyes was making her angry.
"What do you want?" Arizona asked. She didn't even like the mistress for some unknown reason. This was the first time she would be disliking someone like that.
"Don't you know it is against the rule to enter the emperor's side of the garden?" she yelled.
"I don't know about that," she said.
"It was your carelessness and you will be punished for that," Samara yelled.
"You shout too much. I said I didn't know about that. I don't know the place belongs to him," Arizona said and looked toward the emperor. He was beside the lake feeding the fishes. It was obvious he wasn't here with them.
"Did you just say I shout?" Samara yelled and grabbed her hair angrily.
"Did I lie? You are still doing that right now," Arizona said with a groan because she was feeling a lot of pain.
"You little witch!" Samara yelled and wanted to slap her, but a hand grabbed her hand.
"What do you think you are doing?" Alicia asked angrily.
"Stay out of this. First she entered the emperor's garden which is forbidden and she also insulted me," Samara said.
"I didn't. I was just telling you the truth," Arizona pouted.
"Shut up!" Samara yelled.
"If the rules say no one should enter the garden, why are you here then?" Alicia asked gently.
"I have every right to be here. I am the emperor's mistress. He gives me the right," Samara said.
"If you, an ordinary mistress, can enter the emperor's garden, what about her, who is the emperor's bride? Or have you forgotten? The emperor chose her himself, not like you who keep throwing yourself at him," Alicia said.
"Watch your mouth," Samara groaned.
"What if I don't? Are you going to hit me? Remember, I am the princess of this land so you are the one that should watch her mouth," Alicia said and dragged Arizona with her. Samara watched their backs angrily with her fist folded. They were surely going to pay for this.
"I am the emperor's bride?" Arizona asked in surprise.
"Yeah. Why else do you think he brought you here?" Alicia asked.
"Oh, that's why he did that," she thought while remembering the night they spent together, though it hurt and she was afraid to do that again.
"Did what?" Alicia asked.
"It's nothing," Arizona blushed.
"Wait, did you mate with the emperor?" Alicia asked with a smile. Arizona nodded.
"So how is it?" Alicia asked with a smile as they got to where Jade was waiting for them.
"It's very painful. I felt like dying. It was Madam Sara that saved me," she said.
"So you have met mum?" Alicia asked.
"Yeah, she is very nice," Arizona smiled.
"You said it was painful?" Alicia asked again.
"Yeah, really painful," Arizona said.
"Then I am never trying it," Alicia said.
"I hear it is only painful the first time, then you will feel pleasure," Jade said beside them.
"How did you know?" they both asked curiously.
"It's… I… actually, I heard it somewhere," she said nervously and left. They both watched her back with a suspicious look.
"She is supposed to be punished for trespassing. Why aren't you saying anything?" Samara asked after getting to the emperor's place.
"Not like she knows. You should calm your temper," Emperor Raven said. He wasn't even looking up at her.
"Are you supporting her?" she asked angrily.
"Whatever you think," the emperor said. Samara scoffed and left. The emperor continued to feed his fishes without caring.
**THE NEXT DAY**
The ministers were in the courtroom murmuring among themselves.
"We have been on this land celebrating a party for more than sixty years, then a young man will come and stop the party," one of the ministers said.
"He is becoming arrogant these days. Is it because he is stronger?" another minister said. Everywhere became silent as the emperor came into the room. They bowed their heads as he walked majestically to his throne which was made of gold.
"What is this emergency meeting about?" he said coolly.
"Your highness, we want you to reconsider canceling the party. It is how we will share love around our kingdom," one of the ministers said.
"Your highness, please reconsider," they all bowed.
"We can also use the opportunity to get to know your bride. We hear you brought one from the Moonlight Kingdom," the minister said.
"I didn't bring a bride. As for the party, I am reconsidering. I want the three-day party to be the best so that it will be heard in other kingdoms," the emperor said.
"Long live the emperor!" They bowed happily.
"Your expression tells me you heard something," Jimmy said as they walked toward the emperor's chambers.
"They are disrespecting me. They didn't know I can hear them right from my room," the emperor smirked.
"Should I arrest them?" Jimmy asked.
"No. Let's see how it goes," the emperor said coldly.
"The new recruits will arrive soon. Do you want to check them out yourself?" Jimmy asked.
"I will be in charge," the emperor said and entered his chamber.
Master Logan arrived in front of the big palace. He was trying to act cool but everything he saw had been surprising him. He always heard news about the kingdom but he wasn't expecting it to be this great. Everything was just perfect. What surprised him most was how everyone looked very neat. There was nothing like begging. They were all busy with different tasks. The kids looked beautiful as they gave people honey flowers. That was an habit in the kingdom. The children shared honey flowers to the travelers as a welcome gift.
"Tasty," he chuckled after tasting it. He saw some men going into the palace. They were probably here for the same reason. He wore his face mask. He didn't want Princess Arizona to recognize him. He showed the flier to the guard and he was allowed to enter the palace. He looked around. Everywhere was beautiful. He saw where others stood and went to join them. They were all chatting and smiling with each other, not like their country where the rich fought with the poor. They all looked rich though. He looked like the poorest among them and the fact that he was very rich in his country because he was the prime minister's first son but looked so poor here was really funny.
"Hey, are you new here? What's with the mask?" a guy asked. He looked so young and he was smiling.
"I have a hideous scar. I don't want people to see it," Logan said.
"No one will care though, but you look handsome this way. I am Gael," the boy said.
"Asher," Logan said. He was using another name to cover up.
"That's a nice name," Gael smiled.
"You look so young though. Why did you want to become a palace guard?" Logan asked.
"Because I love the palace. I wish to serve in the palace," Gael said.
"You will, if you pass the test," Logan said and patted his shoulder.
"His confidence," Gael muttered while watching his back.
There were about two hundred men that came for the test. They were given an exam and more than fifty people failed. The remaining people moved to the next round which was archery. They moved to the big field. Alicia was already seated with some strong guards when Jimmy arrived. He went to sit beside her.
"Don't you see this place is for men? What are you doing here?" Jimmy asked.
"When will you accept that I am one of the guards? I hope you have not forgotten about our competition?" she asked.
"I haven't. I think tomorrow will be great," Jimmy said.
"Good," Alicia smiled.
"The emperor is here," someone announced and everyone bowed their heads in respect. He went to sit at the center and the archery started.
They were to hit the target at the head, neck and chest. There was a red dot on the particular place they should hit.
They started shooting. No one hit the right target but some were near.
Gael moved fearfully toward the place and shot at the target. None of it hit but they were close. The emperor was studying everything. When it was Logan's turn, he shot perfectly without making any mistake. The guards gasped in shock. He glared at the emperor before going, which made the emperor chuckle.
After the archery, a hundred people were chosen. They were made to spar with each other and the winner would qualify to be a palace guard.
Gael won with a smile on his face but he was almost beaten to a pulp. Logan on the other side handled his opponent calmly. He didn't stress himself much and nothing hit him.
"Who is he?"
"He is so strong."
"Why is he wearing a mask?" The guards murmured while looking at him. He smiled proudly.
"He is good," Jimmy whispered to the emperor.
"He is and also foolish," the emperor smirked while looking at him.
Alicia on the other hand had her mouth open widely. She couldn't stop drooling because of the handsome young man. His mask made him look hot.
"Fly may enter, so close your mouth," Jimmy whispered to her. She rolled her eyes at him.
"Today is so stressful, from the ministers to the guards. I hope you are good?" Jimmy asked the emperor. They had chosen the guards and their uniforms and swords were given to them so that was why it was very late.
"Stop asking me that question," the emperor said and entered his chamber.
"Do you need anything?" Jimmy asked the emperor.
"Get Samara for me," he said.
"Okay, your highness," Jimmy bowed and left the room.
"You are so beautiful," Pamela said as she added some makeup on Samara's face.
"The emperor had a long day. I know he will need me, but I actually have a plan," she said.
"What is your plan, my lady?" Pamela asked.
"We fought yesterday. He didn't care to see me. He didn't ask for me today either. I will reject him to show that I am angry," she said.
"I don't think you should do that," Pamela said.
"I have to stand my ground. He has to beg me," Samara smiled. The door opened and a guard came in.
"Master Jimmy is here to call you, my lady. The emperor needs your presence," the guard said.
"Tell him I am not going," she said.
"My lady..."
"Don't talk," Samara cut Pamela off. The guard left.
"Where is she?" the emperor asked Jimmy.
"She refused to come. I think she is still upset about yesterday," Jimmy said. The emperor remembered how the girl stared into his eyes and nothing happened to her. He was still trying to figure out the reason.
"Get that girl for me," Emperor Raven said.
"You mean Arizona?" Jimmy asked in shock.
"Hmm," the emperor said.
Jimmy bowed before leaving the room.
"Madam Sara!" Arizona smiled when the woman came into the room.
"I am sorry for not visiting you all this while. I had to talk with the minister's wife and I am just coming back," Madam Sara said.
"You should have just gone and rested instead of coming here. I know you must be tired," Arizona said.
"I can't when I hear the emperor wants you. I have to prepare you well," she said and led her to the bathroom.
"He needs me?" she asked.
"Yes, but you don't have to worry. I will tell you some important things you need to know," Madam Sara said and started washing her body. She also helped her to dress up. She started applying beautiful makeup on her face.
"The emperor didn't come for me," Samara said while pacing around.
"You can just go and see him. I think he is still waiting," Pamela said.
"Let me just go then. How do I look?" she asked.
"I think with this look, he will apologize immediately when he sees you," Pamela said. Samara smiled before going out of her chamber. She started going to the emperor's chamber. As she went near, she saw Jimmy already at the door with the girl. She ran toward them quickly but Arizona had already entered.
The guards blocked her way when she also tried to enter.
"You can't go in there, my lady. The emperor is very busy as you can see," Jimmy smiled.
"I can't allow that girl to be with him. Open the door!" she yelled.
"Your yelling may disturb them. Please kindly leave or I will tell the guards to carry you to your chamber," Jimmy said.
"Fools! You will all regret this!" she yelled before storming away. Jimmy chuckled before leaving.
"You know what to do," Emperor Raven said while looking at her. She just stood at a spot without doing anything. She didn't complain. She just took off her clothes and went to lie on the bed. She lay on her back.
