Chapter 12 - Chapter 12 : The Winner

Chapter 12: The Winner

As the battle commenced, the gaunt man drew two daggers from his waist, casting a maniacal grin at Bai Feng. Bai Feng remained composed, standing with his hands behind his back, his gaze fixed steadily on his opponent.

Whish—!

Jiu Jiu lunged forward, closing the distance with surprising speed. While he was slightly faster than others at his level, the gap in cultivation between him and Bai Feng made his movements appear sluggish in comparison. Bai Feng casually sidestepped the attack, making no further move.

Jiu Jiu was momentarily stunned by how easily his strike was evaded. He crossed his daggers in an X-formation and let out a crazed laugh.

"Bai Tianyun, is it? Hehe... watch yourself! You're about to lose! Hahaha!"

Bai Feng offered no reply, maintaining his calm posture. An icy aura began to emanate from Jiu Jiu's daggers as he suddenly leapt toward Bai Feng once more.

Before Jiu Jiu could even reach him, something strange occurred. Bai Feng merely whispered a single phrase:

"Earth Wall."

A massive slab of solid earth surged from beneath Bai Feng, forming a barrier in front of him. Jiu Jiu tried to halt his momentum in shock, but it was too late. His daggers slammed into the earthen wall, sinking deep into the soil. He struggled to pull them out, but the force of his own impact had wedged them too firmly to budge.

Suppressing a smile at the ridiculous sight, Bai Feng uttered another incantation:

"Violent Gale!"

Jiu Jiu felt the air around him suddenly surge with violent intensity. His expression twisted in horror.

'Oh no!'

He tried to retreat, but a massive whirlwind manifested instantly, leaving him helpless. The gale swept him off his feet, stripping him of any footing. The whirlwind spun fiercely in the center of the arena, contained and controlled without spilling into the stands. Jiu Jiu spun helplessly in the air—a pitiful sight. Bai Feng watched the spectacle with his hands still tucked behind his back.

Meanwhile, among the spectators, a player was talking incessantly into his interface, gesturing wildly.

"See that? That's a player! As far as I know, only one player has won in this arena so far, and now we've got a second!"

The man glanced at his floating interface, which was flooded with messages.

"Can't you get a closer look?"

"Damn, the food in this game tastes so real. I'm eating while I watch."

"How do you know that guy is a player?"

The man immediately replied to the last message. "Are you guys idiots? His name is right there over his head—Bai Tianyun. Can't you see it?"

The viewers of his livestream responded instantly.

"Crap, we can't see the nameplates from this angle... wait. What did you say his name was?"

"Bai Tianyun. Why?"

The streamer's name was Hor Mike, a well-known figure in most VR games. The moment he mentioned the name, the chat exploded.

"Holy crap! It's HIM?"

"I knew it! Bai Tianyun—the first player in the world to clear the hidden quest by killing a hundred beasts!"

"You're watching Bai Tianyun fight? Get your ugly face away from the camera and show us the match!"

Watching the flood of comments, Hor Mike grimaced but quickly shifted the camera view toward the pit.

"Fine, fine! Look, he's about to finish it."

Back in the arena...

Bai Feng snapped his fingers. The whirlwind dissipated instantly, its energy scattering outward. Jiu Jiu plummeted from a height of fifteen meters like a puppet with its strings cut.

BOOM!

Bai Feng hadn't moved a single step from his original position. Jiu Jiu, however, lay writhing in agony on the ground, his bones shattered. Bai Feng shook his head and muttered:

"Weak."

Swish—!

Bai Feng took a single step. Jiu Jiu's eyes widened in terror as Bai Feng suddenly appeared right in front of him. He couldn't even move a muscle.

"How..."

Before he could finish, Bai Feng stepped firmly onto his chest and said calmly:

"You lose."

The result was undeniable. The referee's voice boomed through the arena.

"The winner... Bai Tianyun!"

"Damn, so that's Bai Tianyun? He's terrifyingly strong!"

"Look closely, guys. This dude's style is actually legendary."

"Bai Tianyun is so handsome... I think I'm falling for him!"

"Hahaha!"

The livestream chat was a chaotic mess of excitement. Hor Mike watched the scene, utterly stunned.

"What is this guy? I couldn't even track his movement speed just now."

"It's only the first day of cultivation... how can anyone be this broken?"

Hor Mike was speechless. He eventually just shook his head and laughed.

After the match, Bai Feng was in such perfect condition that he didn't even need the recovery room, whereas Jiu Jiu was a broken mess. Bai Feng immediately went to the counter to collect his winnings and entry fee.

"Here you are, sir. Your winnings and total bet return come to 2,820 silver coins."

Bai Feng took the money bag and stored it in his storage ring. Instead of returning to the pavilion, he decided to stay at a city inn for a silver coin a night. Once inside his private room, he checked the time. Night had fallen within the game. In the real world, it was now 6:30 PM.

Bai Feng gave the system a command:

"Logout."

[Are you sure you want to log out of the game?]

"Confirm."
