Kundan held Radhika's gaze before continuing in a calm tone.
"Your father gave his word."
The man who had wanted nothing to do with the woman in front of him was now using her father to threaten her , and even Kundan wasn't aware of his shift in thought process.
Maybe he was, but just didn't want to acknowledge it.
"I'm sure he'll survive~ After al My father gives his word to a lot of people. He's generous that way." Radhika said with a gracious smile that seemed to irk Kundan even more.
Kundan's jaw tightened and he turned back to Arjun, who was being hugged by an enthusiastic Radhika, as Kundan gazed at the way her arms wrapped around his , he felt an uncomfortable feeling that he couldn't quite describe.
"And what is it that you do?" Kundan asked in a slightly disdainful tone as he regarded Arjun with his dismissive gaze.
"Deliveries," Arjun said without adding anything further as Kundan blinked being a bit taken aback as he hadn't expected that answer.
"Deliveries," Kundan repeated just to make sure if what he heard was right.
"Mm." Arjun just hummed in affirmation not bothering to say anything more as Kundan smiled thinly a few veins appearing on his forehead at the utter disregard.
Kundan chuckled trying to act calm as he tried to pass off a veiled insult as small talk " That's very interesting career choice... If you are interested you can be my personal delivery boy and I'll be sure to give you a generous tip with each delivery ... What do you say ? I'm only doing this since you are Radhika's friend..." Kundan said it like he was being gracious and he didn't even say Arjun was Radhika's boyfriend because it didn't matter.
Kundan Oberoi has never been rejected, and since he has taken an interest in Radhika then he would definitely not let her make a bad decision regarding her future...
....
Radhika wasn't even looking at Kundan as she was lost in her own world fixing Arjun's collar while the man sat in place like a statue being completely unbothered by her attention.
After making sure that everything was in order , a satisfied smile appeared on Radhika's face and she finally turned her attention to the annoying fly that has been buzzing for a while.
"Are you done ?" Radhika's one question made Kundan pause as whatever he was going to say evaporated.
He had never felt so utterly invisible not to mention his presence belittled by a literal delivery guy.
But the reality was...nobody cared. His wealth , his status, his jawline...none of that mattered to the woman before him.
The same woman whom he had belittled a few moments ago, Kundan couldn't take this loss because his ego was bruised.
If he was the one that rejected Radhika then it wouldn't matter , but it was her that didn't want anything to do with Kundan Oberoi.
Kundan just sat there in silence as he watched Radhika pull Arjun along with her , and he just gazed at their receding backs...
...
The door swung shut behind them and Radhika turned to look at Arjun with an apologetic wince.
"Sorry about him," she said warmly. "He was dropped as a child... Which stunted his growth emotionally."
Arjun didn't answer as he just gazed at her.
" Okay~ Enough talk! Let's go!~ " Radhika pumped up her hands in excitement.
" Where ? " Arjun's question made Radhika tune around her as she tilted her head in confusion.
She shook her head as a patient and warm smile formed on her lips and she moved towards Arjun and gazed at him in a way one would look at a very sweet and very confused Golden retriever. " Of course, to the register office silly~ "
Before Arjun could think of a response Radhika had caught his large hand in hers as she held his palm tightly and before he knew it they were waiting on the side of a road for a taxi.
Radhika quickly caught a cab as she pulled him along with her not letting go of his hand even when they were inside the car.
She just kept on excitedly babbling about stuff while pointing at things that were passing through the window to Arjun who just gazed at her silently.
What was going through his head only he would know...
....
The taxi barely stopped before Radhika was out of it, dragging Arjun by the wrist into the Mumbai night like they were running late for something they'd planned for months.
Arjun didn't resist as he followed along , and as they were near the entrance Radhika spun around and gazed at him with genuine excitement, the moonlight making her look even more etherial than she already was.
"Are you excited?" Radhika asked with the energy of a husky as her eyes were lit up.
Arjun just blinked at her but to Radhika this was more than an answer.
"Of course you are~" she said warmly, as if he'd grabbed her by the shoulders and shaken her with enthusiasm, and turned back toward the door.
Radhika grinned as she hugged Arjun's arm and pulled him towards the office...
....
