Chapter 2 - MB: Chapter 2: "Being chased"

Qin Feng ran away.

When he did, everyone followed, and everything fell into chaos. No one knew where to run, but they just ran. It was a hereditary fear engraved in people's souls that when one person runs, it means that something is wrong.

Some braver souls stood, but they couldn't stop their bodies from shaking. They stare at the surge of these entities, so many that they almost cover the heavens.

The thundering boom of the massive cyclops's steps made their breath hitched and their heart tighten. The screech from the flying eyeballs crept through their back up to their hearts. The broken melody sang by the pink demons made their tears fall. All of these happen while the pyramidical entities scan the land and its people.

Qin Feng navigated his way through the city. He saw people out of their vehicles staring at the tear, still amazed. When they saw a man running, something within burst forth, and one screamed, followed by another and another until the whole city was screaming.

Looking up, the speed of these creatures was much faster than Qin Feng's, but Qin Feng hid every time these things came close. It was the pyramidical things he was most worried about. They scan the genetic sequence of a person. The whole sweep of the city was enough for them to match all those who were scanned to a genetic bank in their system.

The more biological creatures, like the flying eyeball, the pink demon, and the giant cyclops, had to sweep the whole city slowly, making sure the pyramidical entity did not miss a soul.

Qin Feng ran towards the religious building he went to for the worship of a god he did not believe in.

Reaching their gates, he panted and asked for help.

"Please hide me, I have nowhere to go." Qin Feng managed to say. His breath was laboured, and his clothes were soaked from sweat.

His lips quiver as he asks for help, barely saying a word without his throat feels like burning. His chest still felt tight, so that a single annoyance could cause him to break. One hand on his heart was already shaking, and his vision was becoming dimmer.

The gate opened, and before the man guarding it could even ask if he was alright, Qin Feng ran to the church office to hide.

If one were curious as to why he didn't run inside the temple, the only answer is that it was the most obvious place to go for a desperate soul in need of hiding.

On the other side, within the tear, was a man in a semi-formal, light yellow, buttoned-up shirt. He was pacing back and forth, looking at a tablet displaying the vitals and information sent by the pyramidical entities' scans.

A faint icy exterior surrounds his form, neither happy nor angry, but enough to make others feel a slight fear. And yet even with this fear, those who see him know that he was sad. He barely wore an expression, yet his picking at his fingers betrayed his otherwise calm demeanor.

"Mr. Bossman, sir." A tiny goblin called. Oddly, this one has two functional eyes. "The puppets have spoken."

The man put down his tablet, placing it on a small round table. He nodded to the goblin who laughed awkwardly and led the way.

The goblin walked oddly. His left and right steps looked more like a left and right hop. And although he walked straight, it looked like one step could deviate from his direction.

He wore a somewhat happy smile, but his back was covered in sweat.

The man saw this, but refrained from commenting. That's just how these creatures were. Although ugly to the common eye, to "Him" (another person), they were the most beautiful. An amalgamation of imperfection, and yet they survive.

The two walked the long dark hall, only lit by an ever-burning flame, even the icy cold man knew not of the source. When they reached a certain door, the goblin opened it with its set of keys.

"It took a while, but they managed to tell us what the Master of Life was trying to do." The goblin laughed, ugly, but cheerful.

The man hummed. "I'll talk to them."

The Master of Life was someone he had been searching for. He couldn't remember the reason for this pursuit, but he hoped that when the time came, and he managed to find him, the Master of Life would give him the answer.

Going back to where Qin Feng had hidden. The church officers found him hiding in a women's restroom stall.

"Feng, you can't sit on the floor, it's dirty." Lady Ramirez pulled him up and dusted off his crinkly shirt and pants. "I say, you're already so old and yet still have no regard for cleanliness."

"Lady Ramirez! Those things are after me, I have to hide!!" Qin Feng fought back. Though he did fight back, he still went with her to stand up. "I don't know why, but I know those flying things are after me.

"What flying things?" Lady Ramirez asked.

Then the booming sound of the cyclops' steps was heard from their office.

The other officers looked out the window, some looked out the door, but didn't see anything. Everything looked peaceful. The sky was blue, the ground was stable, and after the false alarm, the earthquake stopped, and everything seemed the same.

"What in the world is that?" The young minister, present at the time, exclaimed. He was staring at what seemed to be a silhouette of a human, but the size of a building

Qin Feng also looked out, and at the same time, the silhouette became clear. The cyclops was staring at the office where he was hiding.

Qin Fen felt his blood run cold. He knew he couldn't hide from them forever. But if he can prolong the time before they capture him, he would do it. The ability of these creatures to find him within an hour was enough to make him lose hope.

He pulled the young minister inside and told him to hide.

"Those things are monsters, and they are coming here." He said. "Everyone shut the windows and doors, stay silent, and we can survive this!" He said so proudly. But deep down, he knew these things won't hurt these people, just him.

The air was stagnant. No one spoke, and no one dared to cry.

The thundering steps of the cyclops grew nearer, and as they did, the smaller flying eyes swooped down, looking at every crevice. The pink demons sang their songs to attract people, hoping for one of the listeners to be Qin Feng.

And yes, they are after him. These entities did not know the reason for the pursuit, but their boss told them to, and so they did.

"Come out, come out wherever you are." The deep, slow, melodious, and sticky voice of the giant cyclops resounded throughout. It felt like a giant tangyuan came to life. A sweet tangyuan. A deadly tangyuan. The voice was slow and steady, as if it knew that the person they were looking for was exactly in that area.

The pink demon's melody grew more beautiful, like the sound of the rain pitter-pattering down the pavement. It was gentle yet strong, the most beautiful song that one could hear. But it was a death sentence to Qin Feng.

Then it stopped.

The songs.

The calls.

The thundering steps.

Qin Feng was face-to-face with the Giant cyclops who had lifted the roof of the office.

"I found you."

And that's the story of how Qin Feng ended up working as a cleaning lady for the E.N.D. Or so they call themselves.

For the past 6 months of working for this odd "company", he learned the meaning of the acronym, he learned about the boss, and learned that these creatures were in fact just stupid creatures who follow da- I mean- boss' orders.

The cyclops talked slowly because their brain was too small. Because of their large physique, all the muscle went to their body and barely enough for their brain. The pink demons sang to attract because, like the attention it brings them, and the flying eyeballs… were just there.

Because the flying eyeballs don't have a mouth, they couldn't talk to Qin Feng. At most, they make a screeching sound to say something, but the human Qin Feng, who only knows two languages, couldn't translate. One kind demon helped him understand, only to find out that the flying eyeball wanted his contact information and to know if he was single.

Atop the 80-story building, sweeping the roof with his trusty broom, Qin Feng hummed a happy melody.

A sudden gush of wind caught his attention. His slightly long maid outfit was swept by the wind, turning his body to the other direction. And there, standing with his back straight, eyes cloudy and dull, was a man wearing a yellow buttoned-up shirt.

He looked at Qin Feng for what seemed to be half an hour. Neither spoke, neither knew what to say. Too many questions hang in the back of Qin Feng's mind, but no word could come out of his mouth.
