Chapter 28 - A Lion

Liam returned home, took a shower, then relaxed on his bed.

He scrolled through TikTok, watching other people's livestreams, and eventually came across one hosted by Anna Diaz—the beautiful lecturer from his faculty.

She livestreamed almost every day, discussing economics and business. Her real goal, however, was to promote her consulting services.

Being able to become a lecturer at such a young age, her abilities were naturally unquestionable. Students even called her "Professor," even though academically, she hadn't officially earned that title yet.

Liam watched quietly along with around fifty other viewers.

Without realizing it, his finger tapped on the gift menu, browsing through options beyond roses.

Here, his dollars had been converted into coins—hundreds of thousands of them—ready to be used for gifting streamers.

Liam saw the lion gift and tapped it with a faint smile.

ROAR!

A lion's head appeared on the screen, letting out a loud roar that startled both the viewers and Anna herself.

She froze, her lips slightly parted.

"Who was that?" she said, her hand moving to check the sender's profile.

Liam's account was his real one, using his actual name. However, he didn't use his photo, and his posts only showed fishing clips or moments from work without revealing his face.

Even so, Anna clearly recognized the name.

She often taught his class, and he was one of the students frequently mentioned—for always being late on tuition payments. Not to mention what happened at the hospital.

"Are you Liam Hemsworth from my class?" she asked on the livestream.

Liam didn't expect that.

He scratched his head awkwardly and quickly scrolled away.

It was just a harmless act of mischief.

He hadn't meant anything serious.

(Liam, the project is ready. Let's meet at this café tonight!)

A message suddenly popped up from Jack, along with a location link.

(Yeah…) Liam replied.

(Hey bastard, did you just send a lion gift to Professor Diaz?)

(How do you know?) Liam was stunned.

(In our class group chat. Someone posted a screenshot.)

Liam: "…"

He checked the group chat—and sure enough, the screenshot was there.

(What the hell?)

(Is that Liam?)

(Yeah, that's definitely his account.)

(Damn, is he trying to hit on Professor Diaz?)

(That's bold.)

(Has money made him that confident?)

Liam read through the flood of comments.

(Liam, don't tell me you're actually trying to pursue Professor Diaz?) Jack texted again.

(Don't be ridiculous. I was just giving her a gift. I heard she needs money.)

Liam had heard that rumor before, though he didn't know why she needed so much money.

That's why she kept livestreaming and promoting herself—to attract clients.

Maybe her family was drowning in debt.

(Hahaha, you're too kind. First donating so much for Professor John, now sending such a big gift to Professor Diaz. Looks like you'll become a very generous rich man.) Jack replied.

It sounded like praise—but Liam felt it would sound sarcastic if spoken aloud.

He shook his head and stopped replying.

Wee-woo! Wee-woo!

Suddenly, Liam heard an ambulance siren outside.

It wasn't moving—it sounded like it had stopped right in front of his house.

He quickly went outside. His mother did the same.

To their surprise, the paramedics ran toward the river.

"Did someone fall in?" Diana wondered.

It wasn't uncommon for accidents like that to happen.

But when the paramedics returned—

Liam didn't know how to react.

They were carrying the old man—unconscious.

He wasn't wet, so he clearly hadn't fallen into the river.

The paramedics quickly loaded him into the ambulance and sped off.

"What happened to Old Man Allen? Liam, don't you know? Weren't you there too?" Diana asked.

Liam shook his head.

"He was fine when I left. But he was badly shaken after his line snapped. He almost caught a sturgeon—probably around 50 kg. It broke because of drifting branches, not even the fish itself."

"Oh… that poor man. He must've been devastated," Diana said, immediately understanding why he fainted.

Liam smiled wryly.

He knew he'd be devastated too.

Even losing a 3–5 kg fish already hurt enough.

Since the old man was related to Luna, Liam saw Paul Allen, his wife, and their young son quickly leaving in their car.

Only Luna didn't go.

Liam knew why—

She didn't want to miss out on the coin project.

He went back inside, changed his clothes, then came out again with his laptop.

His mother didn't ask where he was going.

She clearly didn't want to interfere.

And there was no way she didn't know he had taken Luna out the night before.

When Liam stopped in front of Luna's house, she came out almost immediately.

She wore long jeans and a knitted jacket, her hair tied into a ponytail.

People stared in confusion as she left again with Liam while her relative had just been taken to the hospital.

Some assumed she was going to the hospital with him.

But most thought otherwise.

Luna smiled brightly as she got into the car.

"Why didn't you go with your father? Isn't that old man your relative?" Liam asked.

"My late grandfather's younger brother. It's fine—he just fainted from losing the fish, not a serious illness," Luna replied.

"What, you don't want me to accompany you?" she added with a teasing smile.

Liam didn't respond and stepped on the gas.

"By the way, I heard you sent a lion gift to Professor Diaz during her livestream. Not bad—she's the prettiest and youngest lecturer. Every guy in the university likes her," Luna suddenly said.

"I was just being generous," Liam replied casually.

"Yeah, of course. You really are generous. It's hard to find a man like you. I'm really lucky to live here and get to know you…" Luna chuckled.

"But if you're willing to spend enough money, even Professor Diaz would fall into your hands. I heard she once tried to auction her virginity."

Cough! Cough!

Liam nearly choked, staring at Luna in disbelief.

"Are you serious? She actually tried that? Wait—how old is she? Is she even still a virgin?"

He couldn't be more shocked.

How had he never heard about this?

And where did Luna hear it from?

After all, she wasn't even from the Economics faculty.
