Chapter 12 - Silent Lake

Ethan kept moving forward.

As he looked in another direction, he suddenly noticed something.

A gigantic spider.

Then another.

And another.

There was a whole group of them.

They hadn't noticed him.

Ethan immediately turned away and headed in another direction.

He sighed as he rested the back of his arm against his forehead, wiping away the sweat.

"That Grizzly Bear really wore me out a little."

He looked at himself.

"Am not starving, but the only problem is I haven't even had a drop of water."

"I really need some."

As he continued walking, Ethan suddenly noticed a door.

A gigantic blue, stone-like door stood ahead of him.

It was open.

Ethan paused.

"What floor is this?"

He looked around.

"I really don't know."

He slowly stepped through the entrance.

His eyes widened.

The entire floor was glowing.

Every part of the dungeon seemed to shine.

"Wow…"

Ethan looked around in amazement.

"It's like the walls are made of crystal."

"Everything is made of crystal."

He continued walking.

"On every floor I've passed so far, there were monsters everywhere."

"Even if I avoided most of them, some still tried to fight me."

"But this place…"

He looked around.

"It's huge."

Ethan continued forward.

Then his eyes suddenly widened.

A lake.

There was a massive lake in the middle of the crystal floor.

"Water!"

Ethan immediately ran toward it.

"Finally!"

He knelt beside the lake.

Without thinking, he scooped up the water with his hands and brought it to his mouth.

He drank.

And drank.

And drank.

He didn't stop until he was satisfied.

Ethan finally sat down.

"Ah…"

He breathed out in relief.

Then he slowly stood up.

As he stepped backward, his foot landed on something.

He froze.

Slowly…

He turned his head.

His expression immediately changed.

"What the…?"

Ethan jumped backward.

"AH!"

A small scream escaped his mouth.

He quickly looked down.

A human skeleton was lying on the ground.

Ethan stared at it.

"What the hell?"

He looked around.

"Is that a human skeleton?"

"Has someone already been on this floor?"

He slowly became more serious.

"For some reason…"

"I can feel it."

"The monsters seem to have avoided this particular floor for a reason."

He looked around.

"There's even a strange pressure in the air."

"But still…"

"What is a human skeleton doing here?"

"Someone was killed here."

Ethan stared at the skeleton.

"Even if an S-rank adventurer was killed here and someone tried to hide the truth about this floor…"

He paused.

"Maybe…"

"A rookie somehow came here?"

"Or…"

His expression became serious.

"It could only mean that either an S-rank or A-rank adventurer came here."

"I'm not sure."

Ethan suddenly felt uneasy.

"But I'm getting out of here."

He turned around and started running toward the door.

As he approached—

The gigantic crystal door began moving.

Ethan's eyes widened.

"What the hell?"

He watched the door slowly begin closing.

"Does this dungeon have a life of its own or something?"

He ran faster.

"Wait!"

The door continued closing.

Ethan slid underneath it.

But he was too late.

BOOM!

The gigantic crystal door slammed shut.

Ethan crashed into it.

"Ouch!"

He slowly stood up.

He looked around.

The entire floor was silent.

He began walking forward.

Then—

Splash.

Ethan stopped.

He heard something moving in the lake.

His eyes slowly shifted toward the water.

"What was that?"

Another sound came from the lake.

Splash…

Something was moving beneath the surface.
