Chapter 18 - Surprise!

Sora waited anxiously, constantly asking his system what time it was.

Sora, relax. They will be back in about five minutes now. You already know Levi, Jubelle and Sasha are going to tell Brie to run inside and grab some things and take off as soon as she enters the house. They shouldn't return until tomorrow morning.

He paced nervously as his excitement became increasingly difficult to contain. He dressed in a nice all black suit, with a pink dress shirt, teal tie, golden cufflinks and black dress shoes.

Brie stormed in with an angry expression. She closed the door, turned, saw Sora holding floors and gasped.

"Sora, what's going on?!" She exclaimed.

"Happy Birthday!" He gave her the flowers he held.

"Aw thank you, you shouldn't have! Also, what's up with that dungeon already being cleared? I know we're going on another…"

"You're not going anywhere. I sort of lied and cleared the dungeon myself and planned this out with Levi," Sora admitted while turning red. "They're helping Jubelle clear a dungeon to give us alone time."

"Really? All of this?!" Brie screamed with joy.

"Walk with me?" Sora asked.

He grabbed her hand, and they held hands and walked to the garage. She noticed the rose petal path along the way and smiled. As they got to the garage, Brie noticed a blue sports car with a pink bow on it.

"No way! This is mine?"

"I figured that way you don't have to always feel bad about borrowing my car… although I don't know why you feel bad in the first place," Sora shrugged as he spoke.

"Thank you, that's very sweet of you! I love it! It's the brand new 7035 model too! I bet this thing hits 500 MPH! I can't wait to take it out for a test spin." she cheered.

"No one's stopping you, if you want, go ahead," Sora said.

"No thanks, I'd rather see what else you planned, I see more rose trails!" Brie said excitedly.

She grabbed his hand and walked briskly, following the petals, which eventually led to a room Sora turned into a dining room for the two of them.

A table sat, with a white cloth and pink and blue flower petals on it. Candles illuminated the dimly lit room.

"This is… unbelievable. You really shouldn't have done all of this!"

Sora handed her a beautiful, wrapped present. She opened them and started in awe at their beauty. She held them both near her heart, mouthed, "Thank you," and put the bracelet on.

"These gemstones, I don't recognize them. What are they?" she asked.

"They are from a planet Earth, which existed over 4000 years ago. Each gemstone signified a birth month during this time. Ruby was for July, so I went with your birthstone and picked a Diamond, which was a super rare, super valuable gemstone. The pink one is Tourmaline, which I chose because you love pink. Plus, I love the way it accentuates your blue hair and teal eyes." Sora said, smiling.

"How do you know all this?" Brie asked.

"Well, you've seen my library, haven't you? I've lived alone my whole life, aside from maids and nannies who raised me when I was younger." Sora lied. He felt bad lying, but he had no other option.

"Do you mind if I change before I put the necklace on? I'm still in my dungeon gear."

"Sure," Sora stood up and pulled out Brie's chair for her.

She sprinted down to her room and quickly changed into a turquoise summer dress. She looked in the mirror and frowned. "He's in a suit and I just have this cute little casual dress. I hope he doesn't mind."

When she returned, Sora had the necklace, which she left neatly on the table, in his hands. "Mind if I put this on for you?"

"I was going to ask you too! I swear! That's why I wanted to change." Her flustered tone made Sora laugh.

"Brie, it's ok. I'm just happy the party helped me set this up and they're happy to give us the night together."

"Really? They really don't mind?"

"I promised you I'd never lie to you, anyway, you look great and this necklace looks beautiful on you."

Brie looked down and noticed the shimmer of the gemstones against the candlelit dinner. She realized she was hungry.

"Thanks Sora. What's for dinner?"

"Anything you want. Name it and it'll be here right away," Sora bragged.

"Hmmm… how about alfredo pasta with chicken?"

"Your wish is my command," Sora joked. "Excuse me for one second."

Sora had a professional chef in the other room, waiting for the order. Within two minutes, Sora held two beautiful plates, a glass of their favorite flavored drink, and returned to the table.

"Ta-da!" Sora said.

"Ok, so you definitely didn't make that yourself, but nice try. I appreciate the effort. Seriously… all of this, it's just amazing. Thank you so much. This is the best birthday I could ever ask for." she said with a huge smile.

They ate, talked, joked, laughed, and eventually Sora got up and made her dance to music he enjoyed on Earth.

"What's with this music?"

"It's something my Father left me, another gift from the people of Earth. Do you like it?"

"Yes, it's very relaxing. I feel like I could get lost in your arms all night."

After they finished dancing, Brie excused herself to go get changed into something more comfortable.

****

Sora went and changed into his usual nighttime attire. He hopped in and took a quick shower, then tossed on boxers, white jogging shorts and a white t-shirt.

Brie also jumped into the shower, got out, quickly did some make up, and put on pink pajamas.

She anxiously knocked on Sora's door.

Sora said, "Come in."

"Heya handsome! You look comfy! Mind if I sneak in bed with you?"

"Nope, not at all." Sora said. "Is there something you want to watch?"

"Do you have anything else from Earth you were talking about earlier? You seem to know a lot about it." Brie said excitedly.

"Actually, I do. It's actually a pretty lame romantic comedy, but they're so bad they're good, if you know what I mean?" Sora asked.

"I don't, but sure!" she said as she eagerly rested her head on his chest.

They laid there, holding hands, watching the movie and as soon as the movie was done, Brie popped up. "That was so bad… It was good!"

"I know right? I'm just glad my parents left me some of this stuff. We don't have anything like this here. Everything now is all so overly dramatic or news, dungeon news, adventure news, Council news, like how many news stations can you have?!" Sora laughed.

Sora grabbed Brie tightly and pulled her in for a big hug. They stared at each other, deep in the eyes, and got lost, just for a moment, in each other's arms. Brie finally leaned in, and as they finally locked lips…

Emergency seal activated. You are being teleported to an inescapable S ranked dungeon. Your dimensional void is still full from your previous trip. Items include: 2 vials of your blood, 10 blood bags, 20 large potions, 10 mana potions… Jubelle is in great danger on the final boss floor. He will need your blood to survive.

"What the hell?" Brie said as she stamped her feet. "Oh, by the gods, Sora, your blood, quick!"

"Vampiric control: relaxation. Healing Aura!" Brie shouted as she rushed toward Jubelle.

"The boss snuck up from behind and pierced right through him. Not a damn thing the poor kid could do. Sorry to ruin your night." Sasha said angrily.

"System, please give Brie a vial of my blood."

Transfer of your blood to Brie Reinhardt complete.

Brie popped the top off and poured it into Jubelle's mouth. Fortunately, her vampiric control kept him calm, as life quickly shot back into Jubelle's eyes, the strength from the half-god blood kept under control.

"Alright you ugly son of a bitch, Lockheart Fury!" Sora shouted, as he equipped Brie's two katanas and ripped through the beast, shredding it into pieces.

Congratulations. You have completed the A rank Dungeon: Steinguard.

Rewards: 1 Ultravite

20 large potions

500,000 experience.

Congratulations, you completed your goal: have a successful date with your love interest;

Unique magic learned: Linking magic.

Linking magic allows you to link your health to another member of your party. By doing so, you absorb the damage they would take, and if they are near death, you are able to share your lifeforce with them to protect them from dying. Congratulations Sora, this is a unique skill no one else on Exteria shares.

"Shit, we're not wearing our masks." Sora shouted.

It was too late. The dungeon teleported them to the entrance, and Sora cast wind magic on Levi, Jubelle and Sasha, propelling them off in the distance before the demon could notice them.

"Well, well, well-- What do we have here? Sora Lockheart and a blue haired human girlfriend? Azazel will be thrilled to get a picture of you two!" the sin of Lust laughed, as he mimicked taking pictures.

"Fuck off. Leave her out of this. We cleared a dungeon. Who the hell are you anyway?" Sora shouted.

"I've been here all night, the only people I saw enter were three masked folks wearing these fancy cloaks… so either they're dead, or you're their party members!" Lust laughed and teleported away.

"I'm so sorry Brie. I never wanted to put you at risk." Sora said with tear filled eyes.

She kissed him, as tears flowed down her cheeks.

"See, I've made you cry on your birthday…" Sora started, but Brie cut him off.

"These are tears of happiness, Sora. I can't imagine life without you, or Sasha, or even Levi and Jubelle. Promise me you'll stay with us, and you won't go off destroying this world," she pleaded.

"I promise you, that as long as you and others party with me, there's no way I will do anything to destroy this world. You're all worth saving, and if I destroy the world, how can I ask you out on another date?"

"Just let me sleep in your room tonight. Then we can go on another date soon. I promise. Let's get to the others and get home." Brie said.

"You're right, I hope they're not mad at me…" Sora thought as he used his system to teleport to the three.
