Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Chunin Exams

Three days later, Konoha's Sixth Training Ground.

Swish, swish, swish...

Aoki Yoru, holding a Ninja blade, was performing basic sword-swinging training, his clothes soaked in sweat.

Beside him, Yui sat cross-legged in meditation. According to her, emptying the mind and body, eliminating distracting thoughts, and sensing oneself could effectively improve one's spiritual energy, which is beneficial for Genjutsu training.

Aoki Yoru nodded in agreement; he had figured out this method long ago.

However, for Kenta, it was like a sudden enlightenment. This kind of cultivation method was usually passed down through families or from master to disciple, making it precious to him.

Bang!

Turning to look, he saw Kenta fall heavily to the ground, looking disheveled with his clothes covered in dust.

Panting, he stood up and kicked off toward the tree trunk in front of him, leaving a row of footprints before falling again.

He was practicing Tree Climbing.

This was the Chakra control method Aoki Yoru had mentioned that morning when the three of them gathered to exchange insights from their last bandit suppression mission.

Since Yui shared her mental training method, he wasn't stingy and shared the Tree Climbing and water walking methods for controlling Chakra from the original series.

Even if he hadn't said anything, Kakashi would have taught them later anyway.

Having received the method, Kenta immediately ran off to practice with great enthusiasm; Chakra control was precisely his weakness.

The reason they were here was that they had received Kakashi's summons.

Knowing Kakashi's style, he would surely find all sorts of reasons to be late. So, the three of them practiced on their own at the training ground.

"It seems you already know the Tree Climbing method. I was originally planning to find an opportunity to teach you."

At some point, Kakashi had silently appeared at the training ground.

Aoki Yoru sheathed his blade and walked toward him.

"Kakashi-sensei, is there another mission this time?"

Kakashi took three registration forms from his chest pocket and handed them over.

"Chunin Exams registration forms?!"

Taking the paper, Aoki Yoru raised an eyebrow. He hadn't expected it to be so soon; how long had it been since they graduated?

"Isn't it a bit too fast? We just graduated." For Aoki Yoru, it was better not to stand out too much; waiting another year would be better.

"Your strength is sufficient." Kakashi gave him a deep look.

"Of course, those who don't want to go can withdraw."

"Let me say this in advance: participating in the Chunin Exams must be done as a team."

"I want to participate." Two voices rang out in unison.

Kenta and Yui looked at the registration forms in their hands excitedly, their faces flushed.

Aoki Yoru sighed helplessly!!

Looking at the two excited teammates, he couldn't exactly hold them back.

"Alright, then I'll just have to participate too!"

After hearing their decision, Kakashi nodded.

"The exam will be in half a month. You can go to the bulletin board tomorrow to see the detailed process."

Then, Kakashi pulled out several thin, white strips of paper from his Ninja tool pouch.

"Chakra Induction Paper?"

Aoki Yoru's eyes widened slightly as he looked at the white paper in Kakashi's hand with surprise. He hadn't expected him to bring this out.

This was strategic material; it could measure a Ninja's elemental affinity, which was vital intelligence during wartime.

Usually, the Village controlled it very strictly. It was extremely expensive in shops, and even then, you might not be able to buy it—it was a high-demand item with no supply.

At this moment, Kenta and Yui also leaned in, looking at the induction paper curiously.

"Since you're all here, let's test it out."

He then explained the reaction of the induction paper to different Chakra natures:

Fire: Burns

Water: Becomes damp

Wind: Splits

Lightning: Crinkles

Earth: Crumbles

Aoki Yoru couldn't wait and stepped forward first. He desperately wanted to know his affinity, but unfortunately, he previously had neither the means nor the money.

Picking up the paper, he slowly injected Chakra through his fingertips.

The originally white paper simultaneously erupted with three different changes—

Half the paper crinkled and twisted, one corner became damp, and the bottom right corner crumbled and fell away.

"Lightning, Water, and Earth?!"

Aoki Yoru was slightly disappointed. Why were other transmigrators equipped with all five elements plus Yin and Yang, while he only had three?

"Three affinities? That's very good; even in the Ninja World, it's as rare as a phoenix feather!"

Seeing Aoki Yoru's disappointed expression, Kakashi thought he didn't realize how rare multiple affinities were and specifically explained it to him.

He handed the paper to Yui and Kenta for them to test as well.

The final results were that Yui had Wind and Water dual affinities, while Kenta had Earth and Fire dual affinities.

Even Aoki Yoru was surprised that they both had multiple affinities; after all, most in the Ninja World only had a single affinity.

Look at the original series; even Naruto, the son of the Sage of Six Paths, only had a single Wind affinity.

Kakashi clapped his hands. "For the upcoming Chunin Exams, I will train you for the next few days."

Hearing this, Aoki Yoru immediately straightened his back and looked at Kakashi expectantly. What he lacked now was various knowledge and Ninjutsu.

Hmm!!!

Stroking his chin and pondering for a moment, he looked up. "Kenta, continue practicing Tree Climbing and water walking first. Chakra control is the foundation of everything."

Beside him, Yui looked at Kakashi nervously. She desperately needed guidance from an elite Jonin like him; previously, she had been figuring things out on her own and didn't understand much.

"As for Yui, your Chakra control is a strength. Develop toward being a Genjutsu Ninja or a Medical Ninja; you can focus on Medical Ninjutsu."

After saying that, he handed her a scroll. "I'm also a layman when it comes to Medical Ninjutsu. Take a look at this first, and in a few days, I'll recommend you go to the hospital to learn."

Yui took the scroll and opened it with an expectant look.

"It's actually the Mystical Palm Technique!"

She immediately treated it like a treasure, thanked Kakashi with a grin, and then walked to the side to study it on her own.

The Medical Ninjutsu she had learned were only C-rank techniques like the Healing Jutsu and Hemostasis Technique. The Mystical Palm Technique was an A-rank Ninjutsu, quite famous in the Ninja World.

"As for Yoru, is there any Ninjutsu you want to learn?"

Aoki Yoru was stunned for a moment.

Hmm!!

Pondering for a moment.

Suddenly, lightning surrounded his body, as if covering him in a layer of armor. It was clearly Kumogakure's Lightning Release Chakra Mode.

"I learned this from that Kumogakure Ninja last time. But recently, I've wanted to make the Chakra armor more solid, yet I can never find the right way."

After speaking, he also explained the principle of this Ninjutsu to Kakashi in detail, having no intention of keeping it to himself.

"Follow me," Kakashi gave him a deep look and walked toward the woods.

"You are a true genius. Even I wasn't as good as you at your age!"

"You're too modest, sensei. Who doesn't know you became a Jonin at twelve?"

Aoki Yoru flattered him directly; it was necessary to suck up to the boss.

Kakashi shook his head.

"The Chakra Armor is essentially an application of Nature Transformation. Simply increasing Chakra output won't work." Having said that, he formed hand seals.

Chirp, chirp, chirp—!

A burst of white lightning erupted in his hand, sounding like a thousand birds chirping.

His figure blurred as he thrust toward the rock in front of him.

Boom!!

The lightning instantly pierced the rock, sending fragments flying and dust rising.

"You can try to deepen and purify the Lightning Release, then compress it to the limit. Once you achieve that step, the Chakra Armor can become more solid."

Chirp, chirp, chirp—!

Suddenly, a familiar sound came from behind.
