GA: Chapter 215: Uchiha Madara's Provocation — Marquis Voban's Fury
Black form-fitting combat attire. Red layered armor plates over the top.
And that familiar spiky hair.
"Uchiha Madara?"
The Rinnegan couldn't tell him whether this was Uzumaki Nagato or Uchiha Madara — but the hair could.
Though at this point in time, Uchiha Madara should be dead.
And even if he weren't, he should appear as an elderly man.
Edo Tensei?
Chen Yu frowned at the thought — then dismissed it.
An Edo Tensei body would show the crumbling soil texture. Besides, his Observation Haki was picking up a powerful, vigorous life force emanating from the person.
"Could it be—"
A suspicion surfaced in Chen Yu's mind. He shifted his gaze toward the wild, wolf-like man he'd noticed earlier.
White hair. Black jacket. A suit underneath.
"A Godslayer — Sasha Deyanstahl Voban?"
"System? Divine Realm? Or a chat group?"
Even as he spoke, he directed his thoughts inward toward the system:
"System — how much energy do I have left? Can I initiate the next world transit?"
Regardless of whether this was a system, a divine realm, or a chat group — he couldn't afford to ignore the threat these four people presented.
Uchiha Madara's Rinnegan had clearly been reclaimed. His strength was at minimum one Tailed Beast away from Six Paths level — and that was the most optimistic estimate. The more likely reality was that Madara had already entered the Six Paths tier, possibly beyond it.
Marquis Voban was the oldest Godslayer in the Campione world. His destructive output as portrayed in the anime wasn't particularly extreme, but that said nothing about how dangerous a Godslayer actually was. He was absolutely a threat.
The other two he didn't recognize — but they might well be powerhouses from some other animated work.
As for their objective — that much was obvious.
Hunt him down.
All he could hope now was that his remaining energy points were enough to open his next world transit. If they weren't, there was a real chance he would die here today.
"What terrible luck."
Even after all the battles and trials Chen Yu had weathered in the One Piece world — even after forging the mindset of a conqueror — he wouldn't feel fear toward a powerful enemy. But if dying wasn't necessary, who would want to die?
"Ding — current energy points: 70,000. 130,000 additional points required to initiate world transit."
"Ding — please collect mystical items in this world to exchange for energy points."
The system's flat voice sounded in his ear. He exhaled with mild resignation, looked at Madara and the others, and said:
"Is there any possibility of a conversation?"
"No."
Marquis Voban's voice was ice.
The mission's point reward. The 50% enhancement opportunity. The additional rewards from the Rule-Class Item upon its recovery. He intended to claim every last part of all of it.
"Then I suppose there's no other way—"
Chen Yu heard Voban's answer and shook his head, his eyes sharpening.
Whatever the situation, he wasn't going to sit here and let it happen.
But at that precise moment, a mysterious force acted upon his body. His eyes met Uchiha Madara's.
The next instant, his mind went blank.
"Ding — unknown force interference detected. Initiating clearance."
"Ding — clearance complete."
The system's voice sounded again. In an instant Chen Yu's awareness snapped back — and he immediately put a hundred meters between himself and the others.
"Genjutsu?"
"So one theory from my previous life was correct."
Naruto-world genjutsu operated by manipulating the five senses and disrupting chakra. Many people had speculated: if someone had no chakra at all, would Naruto-world genjutsu be unable to affect them?
It had been something he'd intended to test.
"No — chakra is the combination of life energy and mental energy. As long as you possess either mental energy or life energy, it counts as having chakra."
"But neither Observation Haki nor Conqueror's Haki freed me from the genjutsu's hold. Without the system's intervention, I'd likely already be dead. But because of the system, genjutsu is ineffective against me."
"That's good news."
"The Infinite Tsukuyomi failed too. Rule-Class Items offer mental protection, apparently."
Uchiha Madara looked mildly surprised — but not particularly alarmed.
If the man had been unable to break free of the Infinite Tsukuyomi's control, that would have been convenient — saved them time. But that he had broken free was fine too. It would simply take a little more effort.
"So who goes first?"
Su Yunqing gave Chen Yu a curious once-over, then promptly lost interest.
She couldn't beat him anyway. She was here to support and nothing else.
Bai Xuan, for his part, was entirely indifferent. He still had one guaranteed-success enhancement waiting for the right moment — no need to be greedy about the current opponent. He would participate, but lightly.
Madara and Voban exchanged a glance. Bai Xuan didn't care. They very much did.
Then something seemed to occur to Madara. The corner of his mouth tilted slightly upward.
"You go first, Voban."
"If I move, you won't have any chance to participate."
Marquis Voban's expression cooled.
"Are you saying I'm not a match for him?"
Madara didn't answer. But his expression said it clearly enough.
"Heh heh."
Voban felt himself on the verge of laughing out of sheer irritation.
One defeat and suddenly his strength was being dismissed entirely.
Do you know who I am?
I am the Oldest Godslayer. Marquis Voban.
"Don't come crying to me with regrets after I've killed him."
With that, he rolled his neck, loosened his collar, and addressed Chen Yu in a flat tone:
"Boy — you'll be the first transmigrator to die by my hand. But not the last."
"If you're capable of managing that."
BOOM—
Fire and lightning crashed against each other in the air. In the violent thunderclap, two figures launched into brutal combat.
"Are we just... watching?"
Su Yunqing watched for a moment, rubbed her eyes, and said.
"You could also choose to join in."
"If you don't mind Voban's indignation afterward."
Bai Xuan said it without much inflection.
Whether Voban would win, he didn't know. But jumping in right now would amount to declaring he had no confidence in him.
Even with good intentions, that was still the same message.
"Fine, fine. I'm just here for the assist anyway."
"After it's over I'll heal him. One percent contribution is all I need."
Su Yunqing waved a hand, then somehow produced a bag of chips and a can of soda from somewhere. She thought for a moment, and also produced a reclining chair, which she unfolded and set on the ground. She settled into it, chips in hand, and watched Voban and Chen Yu's battle unfold.
"These are the only moments when I truly appreciate how convenient the group store is."
"It's basically a portable supermarket you carry with you everywhere."
"The only problem is everything costs points and it always feels like it's not quite worth it."
Su Yunqing lay back in the reclining chair and said it with complete comfort.
