Chapter 24 - Chapter 24 – The Arrival of Huoyu, Bai Xuan’s Self-Reasoning

Time slowly passed. Bai Xuan trained while chatting with everyone in the group. This wasn't a big deal for him—back in his previous life, he could sleepwalk in class while still listening to the teacher.

He didn't know if it was a natural talent.

Before he realized it, evening had come. After finishing dinner, Bai Xuan was planning to continue training for a while. He also considered whether to redecorate his room and buy some specialized training equipment.

His body had evolved and strengthened through these past days' training, reaching a level far beyond what it used to be. Ordinary training no longer made him feel fatigued.

This kind of training without any sense of exhaustion was meaningless to him.

If possible, he wished he had a gravity chamber like in the Dragon Ball world—that would truly allow him to make progress.

Unfortunately, none existed.

Neither in his world nor in the worlds of other group members.

The group leader, Su Yunqing, had such equipment in her world, but as an ordinary person, she had no way to acquire it.

"Ding dong."

"Ding dong."

"Ding dong."

The doorbell rang, and Bai Xuan paused in surprise.

Someone was at the door?

He glanced at the time—already 8 PM. Normally, no acquaintances would come at this hour.

Though puzzled, Bai Xuan walked to the door and opened it.

With his abilities, he had no reason to fear anyone on Earth capable of harming him. If there were, he would sense a threat, not remain so calm.

After opening the door, he slightly furrowed his brows.

Before him stood a woman—an extraordinarily beautiful woman.

Her long, fiery red hair flowed in the wind. Slender eyebrows, enchanting eyes, vivid red lips, and flawless pale skin with a teasing smile.

Judging by appearance, she seemed barely in her twenties, but Bai Xuan couldn't accurately analyze her true age—he wasn't skilled enough to determine a woman's age by looks.

He only wondered why she had come to him, and why her expression held such amusement.

"Who are you?"

Though confused, Bai Xuan remained calm and asked plainly.

"Why, after being so forward with me, you already pretend not to recognize me?"

Huoyu smiled at the corner of her lips, teasing him, and tried to slip past him into the house. But in the next moment, Bai Xuan blocked her with his right arm.

"I'm not interested in playing word games with you."

"If there's nothing else, please leave."

Bai Xuan said calmly.

Huoyu looked up at him, paused for about ten seconds, and shrugged.

"Modern high school students are unexpectedly mature."

"Not really—it's just that you're special."

"Others with abilities would be eager to show off their strength when facing danger, playing the hero. But you hide among the crowd. Though you used your power, no one noticed due to its unique nature."

Huoyu paused for a moment, then smiled slightly at Bai Xuan.

"May I come in now?"

Bai Xuan looked at her deeply. He knew what she meant. Without hesitation, he said calmly:

"Please."

Although he didn't know exactly how he had been detected, he assumed she must be from the government.

Only official forces could so quickly pinpoint a person among countless students.

Yet he still couldn't guess the method.

The playground had no surveillance cameras. They couldn't have psychologically determined who acted. Many had awakened abilities of the "Fire Element" type. There was no reason for them to be sure it was him.

In the living room, Huoyu sat on the sofa, legs crossed, smiling at Bai Xuan.

"A smile can bridge distance, but too much might make the other person think you're silly."

Bang!

A cross popped into Huoyu's mind. "Does this person even chat? You're only silly because you smile too much!"

"Normally, you'd ask how I confirmed that you were the one who attacked the Red Flame Bird on the day of ability registration."

"Oh, that bird capable of using fire elements is called the Red Flame Bird? Its strength is indeed impressive."

"Has the government officially named it? So there must be quite a few of them."

"I asked friends from other schools; they encountered the same bird but were all killed by firearms."

"So this bird comes from the authorities? A tool to demonstrate firearm power?"

Bai Xuan had speculated on this before, especially after hearing friends from other schools complain about encountering the same bird during their awakening.

Let's just call it the Red Flame Bird.

Its strength was not weak, especially considering it was only the first day of ability awakening. Even among other awakened creatures, it could be considered a prodigy.

Yet similar birds appeared elsewhere, meaning many Red Flame Birds existed. But Bai Xuan had never seen them in the city, which was unusual.

Thus, the only possibility was that they were from the authorities.

The display of firearm power was obvious: to prevent immature students from overestimating their strength and causing societal disturbance.

But that wasn't what puzzled him the most.

On the other side, Huoyu was dumbfounded by Bai Xuan's chain of reasoning.

Had she revealed anything? She had only mentioned the Red Flame Bird's name.

Just a name, yet he deduced so much—and all correct?!

Huh.

Well, it wasn't that surprising. She had researched Bai Xuan's information before coming: excellent grades, mature mind. Inferring these things from a little data was not strange.

Or perhaps he had already speculated this; her mention of the Red Flame Bird only confirmed it further.

Clearing her throat, Huoyu was about to speak, but Bai Xuan continued:

"The Red Flame Bird is not weak. How did the government cultivate them?"

"I'm certain that spiritual energy revival began on the night of the seven-star alignment. There was no earlier subtle revival."

"In this case, the government could not have produced so many Red Flame Birds with notable combat abilities."

"So… is it due to abilities? Beast-taming or summoning-type powers?"
