The town of Redwood had come alive today. There was a lot of energy in the air, as if it was a grand festival! The streets were packed with people, and you could see Pokemon trainers everywhere.
And for a very good reason. For today is the opening day of The Grand Redwood Tournament!
The tournament was divided into 2 categories. One for Beginner trainers and the other for intermediate trainers.
Any registered trainer could join. It will span 5 days, with the first 2 days focussed on elimination, cutting down the number to just 64 contestants.
Thousands of trainers showed up for the tournament!
---
The tournament was taking place at the Redwood Stadium, located right in the middle of the town. It was a massive facility, and had dozens of battlefields.
Eric stood amongst a huge crowd of trainers, all gathered to take part in the tournament. Most of them were from humble backgrounds, but there were many trainers from distinguished families as well.
"This is so exciting, isn't it Eric! Just wait, I'm going to win this whole thing!"
Right next to Eric, stood Alan. A super energetic trainer who doesn't stop talking, much to Eric's annoyance. Even Eric's dismissive attitude was not enough to make Alan stop. And he wasn't just talking to Eric, but everyone around them as well. What a socialite.
As Eric was cursing Alan in his mind, he suddenly felt a strong gust of wind. The source of the wind was a little further from where he stood.
The people there stepped back a little because of the strong wind, opening a path in the middle of the crowd.
Then, a man with a long white cape and blue hair stepped up and stood in this empty area. No one knew where he came from.
To others watching, it looked like these people made way especially for this man, and not at all because they were moved forcefully. The man had a smug expression as he stood there, arrogance radiating from every fiber in his body. He just indifferently stood in this empty space, acting like the star of the show. He did cause a few heads to turn because of his attractive looks and confidence.
But inside the head of this man was a completely different story. Gone was his indifference.
'Yes! That was perfect! Keep your eyes on me, you peasants! I, the great Alister Nashville have arrived!'
This man was Alister Nashville, heir to the Nashville family. And he, was a show off! Everything that he did was a bit extra, and done to attract all attention to himself. Only he was the star!
This man, was delusional.
His delusion had caused a lot of problems for the Nashville family over the years. If not for his talents as a trainer, they would never have kept him as the heir! He was already 16 for god's sake! Grow up already!
As Alister stood there (aura farming), giddy with himself, a small kid wearing an oversized yellow jacket that had a Pikachu shaped hood emerged from the crowd behind him, running at full speed
"MOVE OUTTA THE WAY, THE GREAT BELLE HAS ARRIVED!"
Alister snapped out of it and turned his head around, 'Who would dare-'
But just as he did, all he saw was a yellow shadow leaping into the air land on the top of his head. The shadow then hopped again and continued running forward.
The entire vibe he created was instantly ruined. Never had Alister been humiliated like this.
"Why you! Get back here" Alister started running after Belle, but he wasn't so athletic. The 2 had already stepped out of the waiting area, and reached the food corner. Just as he thought he couldn't go on, Belle stopped in front of an ice cream stall.
*Huff* *Huff*
"You damn brat! How dare you use my head as a foothold!" Alister shouted, throwing away his cool guy persona.
The Young girl who had just bought an ice cream looked up, confused.
"Who're you? Belle is not giving any autographs."
"You-"
"Oh! Are you here to join Belle's Ultimate Adventure Party?"
"The what? Listen here you damn kid. You used my head as a foothold."
"Belle did no such thing." Belle shot back as she took a bite of her icecream. A small yellow pokemon came up from inside her jacket's hood and also took a bite.
Belle's nonchalant attitude took Alister aback for a second. The nerve of this kid!
No, no no! I'm losing my star power. I'm the great Alister! Why am I arguing with a kid anyways.
Alister then noticed an insignia on Belle's jacket.
"You are from the Williams family? How old are you?"
"Hmm? Oh. Belle turned 12 last month."
She replied and got back to eating her ice cream, completely forgetting Alister was standing there. The ice cream was more important.
'This damn brat!!' If this was a cartoon, Alister would now have turned bright red with Anger.
"We'll settle this in the tournament" he said
as he stormed off. If he spent another second with her, he was afraid he would be arrested for killing a child!
---
Back to Eric's group. By this point the commotion caused by Alister had died down. He didn't even see him as he was standing further away.
He was already completely ignoring Alan, replying to him with mindless one word answers, occupying himself with sizing up the competition.
The majority of them didn't interest him.
But there were a few that had an air around them. They carried themselves differently from the rest.
Among them was a Blue haired girl in a sports cap and a leather jacket. She looked very pretty, but what caught Eric's attention more than that was the Pokemon on her shoulder.

Light Blue potential! This was the second Pokemon of Blue potential that he had seen till now aside from Gastly.
'As expected, this won't be easy.' Eric thought to himself, as he played with a pokeball in his hands.
'Bring it on then'
Eric hadn't been idle this past week. Especially the final 4 days. He was looking forward to seeing the result of his efforts
