Chapter 35 - Chapter 35

The next day, at precisely 5:00 AM, Aaron woke up. Turning his head, he looked down at Natalia sleeping soundly beside him. Her naked body was tucked warmly under the sheets, snuggled close to him after hours of passionate lovemaking. Wanting to make sure she wouldn't catch a chill, he had gently slipped her nightgown back over her while she slept.

He watched her peaceful face, smiling at her closed eyes and soft lips. A sudden wave of desire stirred in his groin, tempting him to wake her. He was the boss, after all; he could easily stay home and spend the morning with her. But seeing how exhausted she was, he decided against it. Leaning down, he pressed a tender kiss to the crown of her forehead where her hair parted, slipped quietly out of bed in his boxers, and headed straight to the bathroom to freshen up.

As the shower ran, Natalia drifted in a warm, heavy dream of Aaron. Her body felt wonderfully spent and achy from the night before, making the thought of getting out of bed feel nearly impossible.

When Aaron stepped out of the bathroom dressed in a plush robe, he walked over to his walk-in wardrobe to select his outfit for the day.

Slowly, the pull of reality woke Natalia. Still fighting a heavy wave of sleep, she pushed herself upright. As she moved, the duvet slipped from her chest. Aaron, catching the motion out of the corner of his eye while buttoning his shirt, turned to look at her. The exposed skin of her chest and the slight chill in the air prompted her to quickly pull the covers back up.

"Morning, Natalia," Aaron said softly, watching her. She looked endearingly tired.

"Morning, Aaron," she murmured with a sleepy smile.

"Did you sleep well?" he asked.

"Yes, I did. And you, Aaron? Did you sleep well?"

"Very well," Aaron smiled back.

Feeling the comforting weight of exhaustion pulling at her again, Natalia pressed her back down against the pillows to rest a little longer. Meanwhile, Aaron continued getting dressed in a casual shirt. Though a part of her was sad he was leaving for work—she wanted him close—she also took comfort in knowing she had her own tasks to tend to later.

Yet, as she sat with her knees pulled up to her chest on the bed, watching him button his cuffs, Aaron could sense the silent longing in her spirit. A quiet smile touched his lips, and a spontaneous decision formed: I'm staying home today.

Feeling a sudden urge to brush her teeth before falling back asleep, Natalia threw on her slippers and padded toward the bathroom, a sleepy Aaron watching her every step.

A short while later, she emerged back into the bedroom, fresh from brushing up and still in her nightwear. As she opened the door, she was surprised to find Aaron sitting cross-legged on the bed, scrolling through his tablet.

Isn't he going to work? she thought, blinking in confusion.

"Aren't you going to work?" she asked aloud.

He looked up, meeting her gaze. "Nope, not today."

A warm rush of relief and pure gladness bloomed in Natalia's chest. Having him stay home was an unexpected luxury, and his presence instantly made her heart light and happy.

"Okay," she replied softly, a smile breaking across her face. As the boss, he answered to no one, and she was more than happy to have him around for as long as he chose to stay.

Crawling back under the covers, she curled up in the warmth of the bed. Then, a sudden thought crossed her mind. "What time is it?" she asked, glancing at him sleepily.

He looked at the time from his tab. "It just clocked six," Aaron answered, his eyes softening as he looked at her.

It was still very early. The kids would be asleep for a while yet. Feeling completely at peace, Natalia settled deeper into the mattress. As her eyelids grew heavy and her vision blurred with sleep, Aaron watched her affectionately, continuing to read his files on his tablet until he was ready to put it down and join her back in dreamland.

That afternoon, the sun cast a warm, golden glow through the towering arched windows of their lavish estate, illuminating the spacious living room where Aaron and Natalia sat curled up together on the deep, velvet sofa. The house was quiet, save for the soft hum of the central air and the occasional rustle of a page, but the air between them crackled with an effortless, cozy intimacy.

They had spent hours simply talking, shedding the invisible weights of business, schedules, and responsibilities. They drifted easily from deep, reflective conversations about their future to silly, lighthearted banter that had them both doubling over with laughter. Aaron caught himself marveling at the sound of her genuine, unrestrained giggles—the way her eyes crinkled at the corners and the sheer joy that radiated from her. He loved this side of her, completely unguarded and entirely at peace in his arms.

"You are impossible," Natalia teased, playfully swatting at his chest after he delivered another ridiculous, dry-witted joke with a completely straight face.

"Impossible, but thoroughly entertaining," Aaron retorted, catching her hand mid-air and pressing a soft, lingering kiss to her knuckles.

She leaned her head against his shoulder, breathing in the familiar, comforting scent of his cologne. It was a rare, perfect afternoon where time seemed to slow down, allowing them just to be—husband and wife, deeply in love and completely attuned to one another.

As evening descended, painting the sky in deep shades of violet and indigo, the peaceful atmosphere of the afternoon naturally shifted into something deeper, charged with a magnetic anticipation.

That night, their bedroom became a sanctuary of its own. The overhead lights were dimmed, replaced by the soft, amber glow of bedside lamps that cast long, romantic shadows across the luxurious sheets. They lay facing each other, the space between them closing as Aaron reached out to trace the soft contour of her jawline.

"You were incredible today," Aaron murmured, his voice dropping into that low, gravelly register that always sent a shiver straight down Natalia's spine.

"So were you," she whispered back, her fingers tangling into the soft cotton of his shirt.

There was no rush, no urgency—only a deep, pulsing awareness of each other. Their conversation melted away into a language of slow, deliberate touches and shared breaths. When Aaron pulled her flush against his chest, the heat between them flared instantly. Every caress was deliberate, a testament to the life of unspoken longing and the fierce, protective love they held for one another.

He kissed her with a slow, consuming hunger, his lips moving from her mouth down the sensitive curve of her neck, eliciting a soft, shuddering sigh from her lips. Natalia arched into his touch, her hands mapping the broad expanse of his back, feeling the solid warmth of his muscles beneath her fingertips.

As they drifted together into the rhythm of the night, the world outside faded into absolute insignificance. Every touch was electric, every movement a seamless blend of raw desire and profound emotional connection. It was not just passion; it was an expression of everything they shared—their partnership, their family, and an unwavering love that only deepened with every passing day.

Wrapped tightly in each other's arms, bound by both pleasure and an enduring affection, they moved together through the midnight hours, finding complete fulfillment in the quiet sanctuary of their bed until exhaustion finally claimed them both in a peaceful, tangled embrace.
