Chapter 22 - Chapter 22: Go, Stir-fry Two Dishes for Me, Then Get Me Fifty Thousand Yuan

My name is Ada Wong, and I am an agent. More accurately, I am not just an agent. I can be a killer, a spy, whatever the employer needs me to be.

Everything known about me on the market is fake. Even the name "Ada Wong" is merely one of many aliases I use for missions. My work demands that I remain a blank check, ready to be filled with any amount the employer requires.

A few days ago, I received a special mission. This task did not require me to eliminate anyone. It only asked me to silently replace someone and collect information about a certain virus before the 'real person' returned.

Of course, stealing a virus sample would be even better, and the employer would pay more. Although this mission was not simple, for someone like me, who had experienced countless similar tasks, it was practically a piece of cake.

As long as I figured out the location of the virus and its data, the mission would surely end smoothly.

'But... why was his assistant used for *this* kind of thing?'

Ada Wong looked at Matthew, who sat in a reclining chair like an ancient official. For the first time, she felt that something was amiss.

"Jessica, pour me a cup of coffee. Remember, it has to be hand-ground," Matthew shouted, straining his voice.

Faced with Matthew's command, Ada Wong, who had just started, obediently ran to grind coffee. After she brewed the coffee and brought it to Matthew, he merely sniffed it lightly before handing it back.

"The water you used is wrong. Don't use the company's purified water; I want Evian Mineral Water from the supermarket downstairs. Didn't Eleanor tell you about this?"

"To make such a basic mistake... If I weren't so good-natured, I'd already be suspecting if she hired you..."

To avoid suspicion, Ada Wong, being criticized, quickly apologized. She then jogged downstairs. Not long after, Ada Wong returned to Matthew with another freshly brewed cup of coffee.

Matthew took a sip and nodded in satisfaction. "Hmm... this time isn't bad!"

"However, your brewing technique needs improvement. In the future, you need to learn more about coffee brewing techniques and grinding methods..."

"Even if you're not by my side in the future, this skill will be useful to others," Matthew said, as if instructing a student. "Oh, right, my shoulder suddenly feels a bit sore. Jessica, come give me a massage."

"Be careful, the pressure needs to be just right. Don't make it hurt! And of course, don't make it feel like you're not massaging at all..."

"Hiss, I didn't expect you to be quite good at this! Since that's the case, give my head a massage too!"

"Mmm... not bad at all."

"Oh, right, take my clothes to be washed for me. They need to be hand-washed... and my socks too," Matthew instructed lazily.

Ada Wong, massaging Matthew from behind, listened to the endless chatter of the man in front of her. He was like Tang Sanzang, and she felt a vein throb on her forehead.

She remembered that the role she was playing this time was a personal assistant, right? Why was the person in front of her making her do all the work of a nanny? It was either making tea and pouring water, or massaging shoulders and heads.

If it were just that, it would be fine. The key was that the man in front of her had an exorbitant number of demands. After one day, he would either complain that she did not do this well, or that she did not do that right.

Ada Wong, who had never received a bad review in years, found her mindset changing for the first time. This was after being subjected to Matthew's gaslighting and scolding.

Now, she just wanted to pull out her gun and shoot this nagging man in front of her. But due to the mission, she could only grit her teeth and continue to endure.

'Phew... Ada... you have to think positively.'

'At least he's only verbally telling you to do this and that; he's not getting handsy with you like some mission targets...'

'As long as you can lie low by his side for a while, you'll definitely be able to access the core secrets of this company!'

'Once the mission is complete, you can forever stay away from this bastard who never does anything productive all day and just whines and complains all the time!'

Thinking this, Ada Wong's 'wonderful' day passed just like that.

And then it was...

"Jessica, come rub my legs."

"Jessica, come massage my waist."

"Jessica, go downstairs and buy me a hot taco, extra spicy."

"Oh, Jessica! I told you I don't eat spicy food! Go buy another one!"

Days like these passed one after another. Ada Wong, who was trying every possible way to access the company's core, was ordered around by Matthew all day. She had no time to access company secrets.

Even her plan to sneak into the office under the cover of night would be mercilessly disrupted by Matthew. She would end up being called upstairs to deliver a late-night snack.

After this past week, she was practically worn out beyond recognition. Compared to her first day at the company, Ada Wong now looked much more haggard, with bags under her eyes.

The sun rose and set; it was another new day. Ada, arriving at the company, looked at the 'door of suffering' before her and gnashed her teeth in hatred.

She now regretted locking up the woman who was originally supposed to take this job. No wonder the salary for just a few months was 300,000. So, it was to serve such a demanding master.

Before she even entered the door, Matthew's shouts already came from the office. "Jessica, are you here?"

"I already heard your footsteps. Go to the street and buy me two sandwiches. Remember, no pickles."

Ada Wong: "..."

Her fists clenched, cracking her knuckles. After two seconds of silence, Ada Wong pushed the door open and entered, the gnashing of teeth on her face replaced by a gentle smile.

"Sir, are you sure you want two sandwiches, and not one or three?"

"And are you sure you don't want pickles inside?"

"Of course I'm sure. I, Matthew Lawrence, would I go back on my word?" Matthew put on an air of 'a word once spoken cannot be overtaken by a team of four horses'.

'Haven't you gone back on your word enough times?!' Ada Wong roared in her heart. He said he wanted the taco spicy, but when it was brought, he did not want it spicy anymore.

He said he did not want pineapple on the burger, but when it was brought, he wanted pineapple again. He said he wanted one pizza, but after the delivery arrived, he said he misheard, he actually meant two!

Haven't you done enough similar things this past week?! Do you really think everything I asked was superfluous?! Wrong!

Just like every rule has its reason for existence, every question she asked was a trap she laid for Matthew.

"Alright... I'll go now," Ada Wong said, pursing her lips slightly and forcing out a smile.

Not long after, Ada Wong returned to Matthew's side with two sandwiches in her hand. "Sir, the sandwiches you wanted."

"No, these aren't what I wanted," Matthew said slowly, looking at the sandwiches handed to him. "I wanted them with pickles. These don't have pickles."

"Coincidentally! I also bought two with pickles!" Ada Wong flipped her hand, and two sandwiches with pickles appeared in her palm.

"I wanted three."

"Coincidentally, I bought three." Ada Wong pulled out another sandwich from somewhere and placed it in front of Matthew.

"Emmm... never mind, I've thought about it, and I still don't like sandwiches. How about this, go stir-fry two dishes for me, and then get me fifty thousand yuan."

Ada Wong: "..."

"Sir... I strongly suspect you're just messing with me." Ada Wong's expression gradually turned serious.

She seriously suspected that this person had been treating her like an idiot the entire time.

"Hmm, you're right to suspect that." Matthew leaned back in his chair, looking at Ada Wong with a playful expression. "I am indeed messing with you."

"After all, who's ever seen an assistant forced to do all these chores all day?"

"Wouldn't you agree... Ada Wong?"
