He didn't sleep well.
Not because something attacked him.Not because something dramatic happened.
But because his brain just wouldn't shut up, no matter how much he tried to ignore it.
"…they were scared… of me… like what?"
He stayed there, lying on his back, staring up at the ceiling like it might suddenly give him answers. His eyes didn't move much, just fixed there, unfocused, while his thoughts kept spinning.
Same boring life.
Except now…
It didn't feel the same anymore.
Slowly, he turned onto his side and reached over, grabbing his phone from beside him. His fingers fumbled slightly before the screen lit up.
"WHATT IT'S 2:47 AM!!"
His eyes widened, the light from the screen hitting his face.
"…I'm overthinking."
He said it out loud, his voice quiet but firm, like he was trying to convince himself more than anything.
"They probably just had a bad day."
"…yeah."
"That guy probably tripped or something."
"…yeah."
"And the other one was just awkward."
"…yeah."
The room went completely silent again.
"…yeah, no…"
He let out a breath and pushed himself up into a sitting position, dragging a hand slowly through his hair, gripping it slightly as if trying to pull his thoughts together.
"…that was NOT normal."
He stayed like that for a while, lost in his own head, thoughts going back and forth, over and over, until eventually his body just gave in.
After what felt like forever, he finally managed to fall asleep.
Not peacefully.
Just… tired enough.
Morning came too fast.
His alarm rang again, loud and annoying.
Without even opening his eyes, he swung his hand across blindly until he hit it, shutting it off with a dull tap.
He sat up slowly, his body feeling heavy.
"…today is normal."
He nodded to himself, small and slow.
"…everything is normal…"
He got out of bed, went through his routine, took a shower, got dressed, brushed his teeth, then stopped in front of the mirror.
He looked at himself for a second.
"…yeah. I'm good."
There was no confidence in his voice at all.
"Anyways I will head to school now."
The walk to school felt longer than usual.
Or maybe he was just noticing everything more.
People passed by him like always.
Same as always.
No one looked at him.No one noticed him.
"…see?" he muttered under his breath. "Nothing changed."
But then—
He kept looking around, distracted, his attention drifting, not fully focused on where he was going.
A man walked straight toward him, head down, eyes locked on his phone.
And then—
BAM!
They bumped into each other.
The impact made him step back slightly.
Their eyes met for half a second.
The man froze.
Not confused.Not surprised.
Frozen.
Like something inside him just stopped working.
"…uh…"
He shifted slightly to the side, raising his hand a little.
"…you good?"
The man immediately looked away, almost too fast, then walked around him, picking up speed like he was trying to get away.
"…okay…"
His stomach dropped just a little.
"…that's one."
He continued walking, but now his heartbeat felt just a bit faster than before.
"ok finally made it to school…"
He let out a breath.
"…well so far that makes 5 men that run away from me…"
He rubbed the back of his neck.
"…but it seems to have no effect on girls…"
He sighed.
"…so guess only men fears me…"
"Oh well at least I won't get rob."
At the school gate, a group of boys stood together, laughing loudly, full of energy.
Same as always.
Same type of guys.
He walked toward them, trying to keep his pace normal.
One of them glanced at him.
Just for a second.
Then his smile faded.
"…yo?"
Another guy noticed.
"…what?"
"…nothing."
But it wasn't nothing.
Because now two of them were staring.
Then three.
The laughter slowly died out.
"…why's it so quiet?" someone muttered.
He walked straight through them, keeping his face neutral, trying not to react.
Trying not to think.
But he could feel it.
Their eyes.
Following him.
Not annoyed.
Not mocking.
Afraid.
"…nah…"
He whispered softly.
"…no way…"
By the time he got to class, his hands felt slightly cold.
"Alright everyone, take your seats."
The teacher's voice filled the room like usual.
Normal.
Everything normal.
He sat down in the back corner.
Same seat.
"…okay…"
He leaned back slightly, taking a small breath.
"…test it."
He slowly glanced around.
Most students weren't paying attention.
Talking.
On their phones.
Half asleep.
Then—
A guy two rows ahead looked back.
Their eyes met.
The guy froze.
Just like before.
Then quickly turned back around, way too fast.
Almost like he got burned.
"…okay…"
His chest tightened.
"…ok, maybe only when they look me in the eyes…"
He turned his head and looked out the window, resting his chin slightly.
"Man sometimes I wish I was a cloud, just... floating"
A few minutes later—
"Daniel, answer number three."
"yes ma'am"
Daniel stood up confidently and started speaking.
But halfway through—
His eyes shifted.
Toward him.
And just like that—
His voice shook.
"Uh… the answer is…"
Silence.
"…Daniel?" the teacher looked confused
"I… I forgot."
He sat down quickly.
Didn't look back again.
"…what the hell…"
He leaned back slightly, his heart starting to race.
"Well ok, then you Sarah answer the question"
She stood up and answered normally without any issue.
"…yeah… it really doesn't work on girls…"
He watched her quietly.
"…she is smart… and she's lil good looking… but overall she's nice…"
After class was over, he headed to the cafeteria.
"dam it, I didn't bring any cash with me"
He paused slightly.
"I could ask someone for money…"
A small thought crossed his mind.
"…and surely I would get it…"
He let out a small laugh.
"…haha nah I'm not that evil"
He sat down like usual.
Alone.
His bag placed in front of him.
"…alright."
He took a breath.
"…experiment."
A group of guys nearby were loud and laughing.
He stood up, walked over, and sat at the edge of their table.
"…hey."
Instant silence.
"…what?"
The voice wasn't confident.
It sounded careful.
"…can I sit here?"
They looked at each other, then back at him.
"…yeah."
He sat down.
No one spoke.
The same group that was just laughing…
Now looked tense.
"…so…"
He tried again.
"…what were you guys talking about?"
"…nothing."
"…nothing?"
"…just stuff."
No eye contact.
No jokes.
Nothing.
"…wow."
He leaned back slightly.
"…this is actually crazy."
One of them swallowed.
"…what do you want?"
That question felt different.
"…what do I want?"
He gave a small laugh.
"…I just wanted to sit down, is that a problem"
"No no yea…right no problem"
Another guy stood up.
"…I gotta go"
"…me too"
"…same"
Within seconds, the entire table cleared.
Leaving him alone.
Again.
But this time…
It felt different.
"…they're actually scared…"
He looked down at his hands slowly.
"…of me."
"…I wanted attention."
He let out a breath.
"…I got it."
Later that day, something even stranger happened.
He walked down the hallway and noticed a group of girls talking.
He passed by them.
"Yea jack was…"
They kept talking normally.
"…well seems it doesn't work on girls…"
He slowed slightly.
"…well actually I don't want girls to fear me…"
"…so I guess this is acceptable…"
"…wait…"
He stopped and rubbed his chin.
"…so it's only guys…"
His thoughts started connecting.
"…the pill…"
His stomach dropped again.
"…I really picked the wrong one…"
He sighed.
"…well it's still good… but not what I wanted…"
"…but that's life…"
"…can't get what you want…"
Back in class, he sat down and looked out the window again, staying quiet until the next class.
For the first time since yesterday…
He didn't feel small.
A small smile slowly formed on his face.
"…this might not be so bad."
Hours later, school was over.
Everyone packed up and left.
He hurried home.
"finally after a long school day I can finally play my favorite mmorpg game"
He rushed into his room, took off his clothes, and quickly started playing Kingdoms of Warfall.
"…you know I wish my powers could have worked on those other players and npc…"
He smirked slightly.
"…but that would be asking for to much"
He played for hours.
Before he knew it, it was already 9pm.
"dam time to get off till tmr…"
"…well lucky for me it's the WEEKEND!!"
He jumped up and raised his hands in the air.
"VICTORY!!"
Then his stomach growled loudly.
"…oh dam I'm starving…"
"…well I can get something to eat"
He went to the kitchen, made a simple sandwich, and turned on the tv.
"ok let see whats on the news"
TODAY NEWS A POPULAR FAMOUS SINGER IS VISTING OUR TOWN, SHE IS ARIA BLAZE, WITH OVER 89 MILLION FOLLOWERS ON GOTUBE
"Dam that's a lot"
He grabbed his phone and typed her name, scrolling through her music.
"dam that's good…"
"…and she's very beautiful and cute looking"
"hey look at that she just got 90 million"
After the news was done, he turned off the tv, went to take a shower, put on his pajamas, and went straight to sleep.
"what a long day…"
"…wish I could meet her…"
He let out a small laugh.
"…haha yea no shot a background character like me have a chance…"
"well goodnight to me"
And just like that, Jin fell asleep.
