Chapter 34 - String Bound

Anish was sitting on his throne, facing towards an ancient, advanced statue, or something kind of robot. The throne was sliding backwards slowly. Other than the joints, the statue was made out of stone. Joints like neck, elbow, those were like multiple tubes compressed together. At the right side of the statue, a pair of closed twin stone doors were standing tall. Those were previously hidden to Anish because of his fog. At the middle of the doors, there was a black point, which was warping the area around it. Stone hair of the statue was warped around the point, just like the space around it.

Anish Saw all those things from the opposite side of the long table. Looking from far away, those weren't really recognisable. Looking at them up close was surprising for him, but he didn't really have too much time to observe them.

The point was situated exactly at the back of Original Viriya's throne. It was the convergence point of her. It was the second time Anish was trying to reach there while dragging his throne with him.

The first time he tried to go behind Original Viriya's throne, he woke up before going even halfway towards Viriya.

This time he was unconscious, not just sleeping, that's why he got enough time to at least reach near the convergence point.

After dragging, sitting, and dragging all over again, he finally reached the convergence point of Viriya. In a single leap he was in the convergence point. Before everything went black, the fog covering his view condensed into a silver string coming out of him, and the other end got tied with his throne. The throne again started to move faster towards its original spot after being tied.

Anish expected to be in space again, like when he stepped at his own convergence point. The black didn't transform into dots of light or into a growing sun. He found himself at the unconscious body of Viriya. When he tried to move from Viriya's body, he noticed the string was coming out of his abdomen and going inside the head of Viriya.

Not having a name for his situation, he made one up, called projection. He didn't know what else he could call it. The room Viriya's body was unconscious in was made out of wood. Other than some boxes and the red haired man, the room was empty.

At the same room, there was a small wooden compartment, which was the place for hygiene. From the look of it, the room wasn't really meant for one, but later arranged that way.

Near Viriya's unconscious body, a mid-twenties man sat leaning against the wall. His hands and legs were tied with a rope. From all the talking from him, Anish expected the man, Karup, might be even younger, but apparently not.

His shoulder length hair and patch of beard were maroon coloured. Other than the dirt spots on him, he was fair, almost too pale.

He had a blue kimono-like cloth on, which was tied with white fabric around his waist with maroon patterns all over it. It was more like a robe covering the whole body than a kimono.

On the other side, Viriya's body was on the floor, wearing a shirt with baggy pants. Her face and eyes were tied with fabric, but her hands and legs were locked with almost white looking cuffs.

The room had two wood-caged windows. looking outside through them. There was a fog covered mountain far behind the widows. Not being in a physical state, he passed through the wall easily.

Twilight was nearby, some of the bigger fragments in front of the sun were visible. He was floating in front of a snowy peak, cutting through clouds.

He knew he was at the northern side from Karup, but didn't guess he would see actual mountain peaks there. After looking around, he guessed it might be a part of the Himalayas. After looking around the peaks he looked downwards.

At the flatter area of the slope, near the tower Viriya was kept in, many broken and intact Minka style buildings were scattered around. Anish could see some people down near the buildings.

He looked back at the building Viriya was kept in, it was at the centre of all of them, a huge tower with the same architecture. It looked the same as Viriya's restrictions.

Before Viriya was unconscious, a man came around who asked her about the bangle. It wasn't the man from the sea shore. The aggressiveness of the voice wasn't there. The voice was calm, almost teasing.

Not getting any information about it from Viriya, he made Viriya smell something flowery. That smelled good, but that made Viriya unconscious. Viriya wasn't sure, but that might have come at the morning.

From the first night there, Viriya almost didn't do anything, other than listening to the red haired man beside her. He just spoke nonsense all the time. But it was better than almost being alone there. Other than the nonsense, Viriya got to know that they were at a place called Himren, stated to be on the northern side of Nanadayaka.

After making a round of the tower from the outside, Viriya-Anish returned to the empty room Viriya was in.

He moved through the single closed door there, no one was there, no guard, no Jarikat, no one. He already knew by the elbow sensing that no one was guarding the door, but it was still weird that no one was guarding the room.

Floating down the wooden stairs, he found himself floating in front of an arched gate, which didn't have any doors.

Peeking inside he couldn't find anyone, not even the people he had sensed before. He was specially scared about the person who was still like a statue, because that person hadn't been detected at first. Not finding anyone, he was relieved for sure.

At the middle of the room, there was a black pedestal, which was contrasting against the white room. That room wasn't covered with wood like the top floor.

Anish went closer to the pedestal, it was heptagon. Around it, distorted lines were engraved on the floor. And on the pedestal itself, the distorted lines were mixing with each other. Those were like a single frame of a vibrating line.

Looking at the engravings, Anish found them very familiar. Those lines were very similar to the letter decoder. The first time he saw Makriva use one of the decoders, and later he used one himself. The tokens usually had one or none of those distorted lines. The pedestal had too many.

While looking at that, he was thinking about whether the pedestal was some kind of similar thing. Maybe it was a huge table of encoded information, maybe it was a better decoder, or maybe it was the reader used to send letters.

He was remembering Yelar, who had told him about the reader used to send letters. The doorman at the University, and some other doorman there, became an almost constant thing before the kidnapping.

Viriya wasn't sure what had happened with Shereka. She was another constant person in her life for a while. During her blackout, Shereka was with Viriya. But not knowing her exact condition was a little terrifying. Jarikat had whispered to Viriya before that Shereka was alive. But could she really believe Jarikat?

Not dwelling on that, and not understanding what the pedestal was, he looked around the room. The room was empty like the upper floor, but it had many doors, exactly like the one Anish had just went through. Other than two doors, all were just embedded into the wall. All had black arched frames, but those went nowhere.

He had come in through one of the open doors. He went towards the other open door. It led him to the stairs, going downwards.

While going there he looked at the embedded door frame beside the open door. It had similar lines of vibration. Coming back, he looked over more of the doors, other than the outer lines, everything was different.

Not understanding the purpose of them, he started to go towards the stairs. But remembering he wasn't in a physical form and was just floating, he slowly descended to the bottom floor. Before passing through the floor all the way, he noticed some black ashes had fallen around one of the doors. There weren't any flammable materials to have ash there. Not knowing what or why those were there, he just ignored them.

After passing through the thick floor, he found himself floating on top of a high-back chair, a white throne.

Looking at it, he thought the throne wasn't as impressive as his or Viriya's dream throne. The room wasn't covered with wood like the last floor. Near the wall there were stepped sitting places, made out of wood. One side was almost broken, and on the rest of them, boxes were stacked on each other. It was most likely some kind of king's place, which wasn't one anymore.

Coming closer to the boxes, he saw tubes filling too many boxes. The tubes were named Trenet Delight. Those were the same oily paste he had been eating every day. He hadn't seen any before, but from the blabbering of Karup it wasn't too hard to piece together.

Seeing the name "Delight" on the tubes, and gagging every time he ate those, he was furious enough to swing at one of the boxes. Then he tried to take a box and smash it. But his hand just passed through.

Delight for sure, delight exactly like the situation of Viriya. Anish thought that while looking around the room. Other than the Trenet paste boxes, some closed, unlabelled boxes were also there.

At last he went near the throne. It was made out of the same white metal, but it was kind of barren; it had some empty holes, which most likely had gemstones at some point in time.

He kept looking at the throne while slowly descend down through the floor to check what was next. Slowly the thick floor covered his vision in Uttar darkness like the last floor.
