Chapter 73 - Chapter 73: Holding the Power of Life and Death

"Zhou Xing, during the time you were away just now, I held the class committee elections."

Liu Lei explained with a smile, "The number of votes electing you as Class Monitor was far ahead of the rest. Everyone is welcoming you. It seems you have a very good reputation among your classmates."

"I believe you will definitely be a good Class Monitor."

Deng Jian winked from the side: "Class Monitor, you must lead us well in the future, otherwise we will revolt."

Zhou Xing couldn't help but be a bit speechless.

Could there be anything more absurd than this?

While the Class Monitor was being elected, he wasn't even there, yet the position had somehow fallen onto his head.

"Teacher, forget about the Class Monitor position. I'm usually quite busy..."

Zhou Xing rejected it without even thinking.

The position of Class Monitor might hold a lot of attraction for ordinary students.

He had been the same in his past life.

It was just a pity... back then, he knew he wasn't cut out to be a Class Monitor, so he didn't participate in the election.

It was only after entering society that he realized.

Being a Class Monitor was useless. In school, it seemed prestigious, but in reality, it was just a pile of trivial chores.

Not to mention being busy, it was a thankless task.

When applying for jobs after graduation, companies wouldn't look at you more highly or give you a higher salary just because you were a university Class Monitor.

He had serious business to attend to and had no desire to manage the Class Monitor position.

"Eh..."

Liu Lei waved his hand and said with a smile, "Having things to do outside proves you have ability. Those who are capable should do more. Don't decline the Class Monitor position anymore. The students' calls for you are so high; refusing again wouldn't be good for class unity."

"Class Monitor! Class Monitor! Class Monitor!"

Deng Jian was the first to start the chant, and the other students began to follow along.

After these ten-plus days of Military Training, although they weren't very familiar with Zhou Xing, they had a general idea of his temperament. He didn't put on airs and could take a joke.

As long as his bottom line wasn't touched, he was a very amiable person.

Zhou Xing had no choice but to sit back down.

"Get lost!"

Seeing Deng Jian still chanting, Zhou Xing said crossly, "It's just you making a scene. I bet you're the one who instigated this Class Monitor position, right?"

"Heh."

Deng Jian smiled and said, "It really wasn't. It's what the people want. Who told you to be so charming? Before I even had a chance to speak, when the Class Advisor was selecting the committee, everyone unanimously said they wanted you to be the Class Monitor."

"What's so bad about being Class Monitor? It's so prestigious... and you can interact with so many girls in the class. With your charm, maybe if you just beckon them with a finger, they'll be just like Min Sishi..."

Deng Jian stopped halfway through his sentence, wondering what he was so happy about.

For some reason, his heart suddenly felt a sharp pang of pain.

"If being Class Monitor is so great, why don't you do it?"

Zhou Xing glanced at Deng Jian.

"I'd like to, but unfortunately, I'm already holding an important post and can't be the Class Monitor. You should just honestly be the Class Monitor."

Deng Jian patted Zhou Xing's shoulder and said, "Since you can't refuse, just lie down and enjoy it."

"What's your position?"

Zhou Xing asked. He wasn't surprised at all that Deng Jian could become a class committee member.

After all, this guy was from Kyoto.

His mouth was like a cross-talk performer's, rattling on and on.

With his outgoing personality, he could get along with anyone.

If he stood on stage to run for a committee position, his votes would likely be quite high.

"I'm the Vice Class Monitor!"

Deng Jian grinned, revealing a row of white teeth: "You're the Class Monitor, I'm the Vice Class Monitor. From now on, whether this class is in chaos or not is up to us. We hold the power of life and death, and it just so happens we're good brothers. It's perfect."

"Screw off!"

Hearing Deng Jian's words, Zhou Xing felt even worse.

It was bad enough being Class Monitor with all its trivial matters, but he had originally thought he might have a beautiful Vice Class Monitor to work with.

As it turned out, the Vice Class Monitor was this guy, Deng Jian.

He immediately lost interest.

He somewhat boredly finished his first day of school.

Zhou Xing yawned as he came out of the classroom, with Deng Jian following behind: "Let's go... let's eat..."

Before he could finish, he saw Min Sishi standing at the door.

She was looking at Zhou Xing with a smile like a flower.

When Zhou Xing came out, Min Sishi immediately stepped forward, hugged his arm, stood on her tiptoes, and gave him a kiss on the cheek: "Hubby, you're out of class. Do you want to go eat together?"

"Oh, Deng Jian, you're here too. Do you want to join us?"

Deng Jian's gaze was full of suspicion as he kept looking back and forth between Zhou Xing and Min Sishi.

Then he said with a mournful face, "When did you two get together behind my back? Zhou Xing, you really deserve to die! This feels worse than killing me!"

"I'm not going. You guys go ahead."

Deng Jian waved his hand listlessly and turned to leave. His back looked a bit lonely as he muttered something about 'damn it, how did he already find a girlfriend'.

He gradually disappeared from their sight.

"What's wrong with him?"

Min Sishi looked at Deng Jian and asked with a puzzled expression.

Zhou Xing smiled and didn't say anything.

Let this guy be smug during class; now he's getting his comeuppance.

He didn't take it to heart either. After all, Deng Jian was a carefree guy and wouldn't care about this at all; he'd be full of life again tomorrow morning.

"Let's go, let's eat. What do you want to eat?"

Zhou Xing asked.

"Anything is fine. Whatever you eat, Hubby, I'll eat!"

Min Sishi said with a charming smile.

"Then let's have the six-yuan Malatang."

Zhou Xing couldn't help but laugh.

"Maybe not... I was a bit too tired from dancing last night. How about we save a bit and eat one yuan's worth? Any more and I won't be able to take it. When I've recovered, we'll see if we can order more."

"That works too."

"Heehee, Hubby, you're so good. I'll reward you with a kiss."

"By the way, Hubby, my Roommate said she wants to meet you and have a meal together. See if it's convenient for you."

"I might not have much time recently. Let's talk about it after a while."

"Okay, I'll listen to you."

"..."

...In the blink of an eye.

The next morning.

Ritz-Carlton, Presidential Suite.

Zhou Xing took a look at Min Sishi, who was still sound asleep, then picked up his clothes, went into the bathroom to wash up, and then went downstairs.

He casually ate some breakfast.

When he reached the first-floor entrance, it was already nine in the morning.

The sunlight was a bit dazzling.

Zhou Xing stretched his body and walked out of the hotel lobby with narrowed eyes.

He arrived at the car's parking space.

A girl was already standing there. Seeing Zhou Xing approach, she immediately bowed: "Good morning, Mr. Zhou."
