Chapter 118: The King of Curses' Overwhelming Combat Power
Inside the Divine Tree Space, a clear yet dense aura of Cursed Energy permeated the air. Unlike the chaotic Cursed Energy outside, this energy possessed a purity almost like "vitality," yet it harbored a deeply unsettling pressure.
Ryomen Sukuna's consciousness condensed into a tall black shadow, suspended in mid-air.
He swept his gaze across the world before him, his brow furrowing slightly. The usual arrogance and mockery on his face faded, replaced by deep confusion.
This was one of countless times he had been awakened. The intelligence shared among his twenty fingers meant he had seen all manner of vessel souls, but never had a place been as strange as this.
"Hmph, this is certainly novel."
His deep voice echoed through the space, carrying a hint of barely perceptible scrutiny.
He could clearly sense that this was the little brat (Rin)'s soul domain, but the scale was simply outrageous.
In his prime, his Sea of Souls was vast enough to accommodate thousands of Cursed Spirits, yet the space before him was several times larger than his own had been back then, resembling an independent minor world.
Scattered across the ground were hundreds of Cursed Spirits of various forms, ranging from low-grade to Special Grade.
They seemed to be suppressed by some power, obediently huddled around the Divine Tree, not daring to make the slightest move.
Among them were several powerful Cursed Spirits that even he found familiar, clearly collected by the little brat, yet their ability to remain so docile deep within the soul was inherently illogical.
But what concerned him the most was the towering tree standing in the center of the space.
The trunk of the Divine Tree was unimaginably thick, its branches extended to cover the sky, and faint golden light flowed across its emerald leaves.
Its roots were deeply embedded in the void of darkness, and every slight sway caused the Cursed Energy of the entire space to fluctuate.
This tree was definitely not a typical "inner image." The power it radiated was ancient and mighty, carrying a sense of "control," as if it were the core and master of this soul space.
Even the King of Curses, who had lived for a thousand years and possessed vast knowledge, was perplexed at this moment.
He could feel the tree suppressing him—not through malicious attack, but through an inherent, superior restraint over an inferior, causing the circulation of Cursed Energy within his body to slow down slightly.
"How interesting."
Sukuna's lips curled into a playful smile, and a flicker of excitement crossed his vertical pupils.
The more unknown something was, the more it piqued his interest.
He had originally thought the little brat was just a vessel with decent innate talent, never expecting such a secret to be hidden deep within his soul.
He was about to approach the Divine Tree to thoroughly investigate the source of the suppression when a faint sound of footsteps suddenly came from behind him.
Sukuna spun around abruptly, his pupils contracting instantly.
Rin's figure suddenly appeared not far in front of him, surrounded by Cursed Energy originating from the same source as the Divine Tree.
His expression was too calm for someone whose soul had been invaded by a Cursed Object; instead, he looked like the master of this space, scrutinizing an unwelcome intruder.
"Brat, this is your soul domain?"
Sukuna spoke first, the confusion in his tone overriding his previous mockery:
"It's far more interesting than I imagined."
Rin did not answer immediately, merely sweeping his gaze calmly over Sukuna.
"You seem surprised?"
Rin's voice rang out in the space, carrying a strange penetrative power:
"Surprised by the size of this space, or surprised by this tree?"
He slowly stepped toward Sukuna. With every step, a circle of pale golden Cursed Energy rippled beneath his feet. The Cursed Spirits huddled on the ground bowed their heads, as if welcoming their master.
Sukuna watched his composed demeanor, his internal confusion deepening.
Previously, the souls of vessels who had consumed his fingers were invariably thrown into chaos by his Cursed Energy; their consciousnesses either collapsed or were easily suppressed by him.
But the little brat before him could not only remain conscious but also control such a bizarre soul space, even managing to suppress him. This completely surpassed his understanding.
"What exactly are you?"
Sukuna's tone grew heavier, and a flash of vigilance appeared in his vertical pupils.
This little brat was far more mysterious than he had anticipated.
As soon as Rin finished speaking, he gave Sukuna no further chance to investigate.
His fingertip moved slightly, pale golden Cursed Energy condensed beside him, and the next second, a tall black shadow suddenly materialized.
The Special Grade Cursed Spirit Gargoyle landed with a crash, its heavy feet causing the ground of the space to tremble slightly. Its stone skin shone with a cold, hard luster, and the black Cursed Energy surrounding it was so dense it seemed ready to drip.
This Gargoyle was Rin's core combat power, cultivated by expending a large amount of Cursed Energy. The sheer volume of Cursed Energy accumulated within it had already reached the total equivalent of three Sukuna's Fingers, placing it at the top tier among Special Grade Cursed Spirits.
The moment it appeared, it received Rin's command, instantly locked onto Sukuna's shadow, and without hesitation, swung its massive, bone-spiked fist violently toward Sukuna.
The punch whistled, carrying destructive power that caused even the space itself to slightly warp.
"Hmph, you dare use trash like this to test me?"
A trace of mockery flashed in Sukuna's vertical pupils, his tone filled with annoyance at being underestimated:
"What an arrogant brat."
Before his words finished, his figure moved slightly. He neither dodged nor retreated, raising his hand to condense a pitch-black Cursed Energy Slash, cleaving toward the Gargoyle's massive fist.
"Boom!"
A violent explosion erupted within the space. Black Cursed Energy shockwaves spread everywhere, blasting a huge crater into the ground.
The Gargoyle's massive fist was shaken open by the slash, and a thin crack appeared on its stone skin. Sukuna's shadow merely swayed slightly before stabilizing.
Instantly, the Divine Tree Space was filled with continuous explosions.
The Gargoyle went completely berserk, swinging its massive fists and sharp claws, every move aimed at a vital point. Its stone body created a dull roar just by hitting the air.
The suppression from three times the total Cursed Energy volume allowed it to launch attacks carrying absolute pressure even when facing Sukuna.
Even Rin himself would have to respond cautiously to this level of power, relying on the Reverse Cursed Technique and Space Sealing to maneuver.
Yet, facing such a fierce assault, Sukuna appeared completely at ease.
His shadow moved like a phantom, weaving through the gaps between the Gargoyle's fists and feet. Black Cursed Energy continuously condensed into slashes in his hands, and every strike was precise and vicious.
At first, the Gargoyle managed to barely suppress the rhythm, relying on its hard stone hide and powerful physique. Its massive fists hammered at Sukuna repeatedly, forcing him to temporarily retreat.
But after only a dozen seconds, Sukuna had completely adapted to the Gargoyle's attack pattern.
"Too slow."
Sukuna's voice carried cold mockery. His figure suddenly appeared on the Gargoyle's flank, and the Cursed Energy blade condensed in his hand, carrying terrifying sharpness, slammed heavily onto the Gargoyle's shoulder armor.
"Crack!"
The hard stone hide instantly shattered, black blood gushed out, and the Gargoyle let out a painful roar, staggering back a few steps.
Just as it tried to turn and counterattack, Sukuna's shadow followed like a ghost. Cursed Energy Slashes descended like a torrential storm, every blow accurately hitting the weak points of the stone hide.
