Hana coughed, blood spilling out of her mouth. She could feel a sharp burning ache in her chest. Her ribs were fractured and she was bleeding way too much. That scream just now had taken a lot of her energy as well, and made the pain more potent.
But she didn't let the pain get to her.
BOOM!
Caspian hit the central platform in his human form, the stone splitting into deep webs beneath his bare feet. His left shoulder was still heavily bandaged with ice-fleece, but his golden eyes were burning with a blinding, white-hot draconic fury that completely eclipsed the heat of the volcano.
He didn't look at his screaming uncle; his gaze snapped directly to Hana's broken, bloodied form on the dirt.
A low, trembling rumble tore out of his throat—a sound of pure, agonized heartbreak and lethal promise.
"Raiden. Ren," Caspian gritted out, his voice shaking the cavern walls. "Take care of Hana. Leave the rest to me."
"With pleasure, big guy," Raiden whispered.
