As soon as they returned home, Katsura Kotonoha couldn't wait to get into the kitchen to make lunch. Before long, a series of clattering and banging sounds came from inside the kitchen, sounding like a battle was taking place.
Outside, Chu Hui and Katsura Kokoro looked at each other. After a while, Chu Hui asked Katsura Kokoro worriedly: "Kokoro, does your sister often cook?"
Katsura Kokoro bit her finger, clearly lacking confidence herself: "Sister rarely cooks. Usually, it's Mom or the maid who does it. The last time Sister cooked was when she made a friend. Big brother, you're in for a treat."
I dare not accept this treat. Chu Hui felt guilty and refused it.
Needless to say, what Katsura Kokoro was talking about was that time the three of them—he, Saionji Sekai, and Katsura Kotonoha—were on the rooftop. No wonder it turned into "dark cuisine"; it was her first time cooking.
Realizing it was bad, Chu Hui quickly told Katsura Kokoro to go play by herself and ran into the kitchen.
As soon as he entered the kitchen, he saw Katsura Kotonoha holding a bottle of cola and pouring it continuously into a pot. What she was cooking in front of her was a pot of miso soup.
After pouring the cola, Katsura Kotonoha started adding vinegar, sugar, soy sauce, and various other unidentifiable things into the pot. It seemed that to her, everything within her line of sight was a condiment.
A strange purple gas began to rise from the pot, and even more strangely, the smell was quite fragrant. Upon smelling it, Katsura Kotonoha revealed an excited expression.
Student Chu, however, saw a mosquito get hit by the purple gas and immediately drop to the ground.
Chu Hui watched with his heart in his throat and, without a second thought, stepped forward and turned off the stove.
"Student Chu?" Katsura Kotonoha blinked her bright, large eyes at him, looking very confused.
"Your soup is ruined," Chu Hui had to tell her.
Katsura Kotonoha scooped a little with a spoon and tasted it; she felt as if she had eaten a fly, and her expression went blank. Seeing Chu Hui smiling at her, Katsura Kotonoha blushed in embarrassment, feeling very ashamed.
Chu Hui went to pour out the ruined miso soup and returned, saying, "Kotonoha, actually, your idea wasn't bad. Why don't you learn how to cook from me?"
Katsura Kotonoha blushed, because Chu Hui had called her by her first name directly. This was the first time he had truly called her by her name since the day he helped her out of that predicament, and she felt as if her heart had been sweetened with honey.
"What's wrong?" Chu Hui looked at Katsura Kotonoha in confusion, not understanding why she had zoned out; learning to cook shouldn't be a problem.
"N-nothing. Does Student Chu know how to cook too?" Katsura Kotonoha asked, flustered as she collected herself.
"I do, but I only know how to make some home-cooked dishes." Chu Hui smiled at Katsura Kotonoha. "You don't have to be so polite. Just call me A-Hui; that's what people who know me call me."
"A-Hui..." Katsura Kotonoha said with a smile, seeming quite happy.
"Yes," Chu Hui nodded and said, "Then Kotonoha, let's start cooking!"
Next, Chu Hui took over the role of chef. While making some home-cooked dishes he was familiar with, he taught Katsura Kotonoha how to make Chinese food. Katsura Kotonoha appeared very focused on learning, which made Chu Hui breathe a sigh of relief. It seemed he wouldn't have to worry about eating Katsura Kotonoha's dark cuisine in the future.
The dishes Chu Hui was good at making were all very common home-cooked dishes in his home country, some of which were quite famous in Japan, such as Mapo Tofu, Braised Pork Belly, Steamed Fish, and Tomato Scrambled Eggs.
Before long, the dining table outside was filled with dishes, making Katsura Kokoro dazzled. She ate until her mouth was oily. Katsura Kotonoha, while wiping her sister's mouth, glanced at Chu Hui from time to time, smiling happily.
"What's the matter?" Chu Hui, feeling uncomfortable from being stared at, had to ask.
"N-nothing..." Katsura Kotonoha quickly withdrew her gaze and lowered her head to eat.
Chu Hui, however, was feeling distressed inside. He had intended to confess, but he couldn't find an opportunity at all; Katsura Kokoro kept pestering him, preventing him from being alone with Katsura Kotonoha.
He wondered if Katsura Kotonoha had a private theater in her home. If so, he could choose a scary movie; that brat Katsura Kokoro would surely be terrified of such things.
After lunch, just as Chu Hui was thinking about how to get rid of Katsura Kokoro, unexpectedly, Katsura Kotonoha said to her sister, "Kokoro, go take your nap."
"Eh? I want to play with Big Brother, I'm not sleepy," Katsura Kokoro said, looking at Chu Hui with a bitter face.
Chu Hui was secretly delighted; just as he wanted to sleep, someone brought him a pillow. He persuaded Katsura Kokoro with a smile, "People who don't take naps don't grow tall. Do you want to stay a little kid forever, Kokoro?"
Children often yearn for the scene of growing up. Hearing Chu Hui say this, Katsura Kokoro panicked a little. Although she was reluctant, she still ran off to take her nap.
In the large living room, only Chu Hui and Katsura Kotonoha remained. They sat on the same sofa, and the atmosphere inexplicably became heavy.
Chu Hui gathered his courage and looked at Katsura Kotonoha, thinking that it seemed he wouldn't need to watch a movie after all.
His thoughts raced, and just as he was about to speak, Katsura Kotonoha turned her head and said with a smile, "I have a private theater at home. Let's go watch a movie."
Chu Hui was stunned for a moment and subconsciously nodded.
He followed Katsura Kotonoha into a large hall.
The layout of the hall was similar to a regular movie theater, but much more luxurious. The seats were an incredibly expensive leather sofa, and in front of the sofa were various fruits and snacks. The surrounding walls and ceiling were embedded with many tiny lights, making it look like countless stars were embedded within.
It was as if it had been carefully prepared.
After entering, Katsura Kotonoha locked the door. Seeing Chu Hui's surprised expression, she explained, "That girl Kokoro often sneaks in and disturbs people watching movies, so it's better to lock it."
Chu Hui had no choice but to nod.
Seeing that there was nothing unusual on Chu Hui's face, Katsura Kotonoha went over and turned off the lights. The theater instantly became pitch black, but the lights on the surrounding walls and ceiling lit up, making one feel as if they were in the starry universe.
At this moment, Katsura Kotonoha spoke again, "The lights were too bright; it's more comfortable to watch a movie like this."
"Everything you say is right," Chu Hui continued to nod.
Katsura Kotonoha also seemed to feel that it was somewhat inappropriate for a man and a woman to be alone in an enclosed, dark environment. She walked over to the middle of the sofa with a blushing face, picked up the remote control to turn on the screen, and started selecting a movie.
Chu Hui looked at the only sofa. It could barely seat three people, and since Katsura Kotonoha was sitting in the middle, it was inevitable that he would be next to her if he sat down.
However, Chu Hui was not foolish enough to point that out; he silently walked over and sat down.
As soon as he sat down, the outside of his thigh touched Katsura Kotonoha's leg. He clearly felt Katsura Kotonoha's leg tremble, as if she were a little nervous.
However, Katsura Kotonoha did not move away from him but continued to select a movie as if she didn't notice, which made Chu Hui's expression become somewhat strange.
The movie was quickly selected; it was actually a movie Chu Hui was very familiar with—Titanic.
A romance movie? Chu Hui's expression suddenly became interesting; how did he feel as if he had been set up?
