Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: A Goal Sparked by a Goalkeeper Throw!

"Leon, it's Leon again, he's kept out another thundering strike from Guarochena!"

"That is now the fourth time Leon has denied Guarochena in this match!"

"And to be honest, Guarochena has been in excellent form today!"

"Five shots, four on target, and none of them lacking quality!"

"Yet every single one has been turned away by Leon!"

Galicia Sports Channel commentator Mike was once again on commentary duty for a Leoia match.

Years of commentating on lower-division football had drained much of his enthusiasm, but over these two Leoia matches, Leon Feng had clearly helped Mike rediscover the passion he once had for the job.

Those were the feelings of youth coming back to him.

"We can see that Guarochena looks to be on the verge of losing his composure!"

"Ha, I'm sorry, I can't help but have a little chuckle!"

"Three matches, and Leon has now ended the recall hopes of three different strikers trying to impress their parent clubs!"

Mike let out a small laugh, and it was plain to see he had completely taken Leon's side in his commentary.

The match had reached the 75th minute and the scoreline remained at 0-0.

After watching Leon's heroic display, head coach Burke Abel had clearly only grown more reckless, still urging his side to pour forward with everything they had.

Once a person goes all in on a gamble, it becomes very hard to pull back.

Athletic Club B head coach Neil had long since lost the relaxed expression he wore in the first half.

His side had carved out plenty of counter-attacking opportunities, but every single one had been snuffed out by the opposition goalkeeper, Leon Feng, which was quite simply an unbelievable state of affairs.

"Bang!"

Guarochena let fly from outside the penalty area, and Leon caught the long-range effort comfortably without it posing any real threat to Leoia's goal.

"Getting desperate."

Watson shook his head up in the stands.

This was the difference between an ordinary striker and an elite one, as even though Guarochena had been doing well in the Segunda División B, he was simply in a different league compared to the forwards playing at the top level.

"Go!"

Out on the pitch, Leon caught the ball and suddenly bellowed at Hachim Mastour, who had begun making his way back to collect it.

The understanding between the two was instant, and Hachim Mastour needed no further explanation, immediately sprinting into the open space on the left side of Athletic Club B's midfield.

And at that moment, Leon's powerful throw found the gap in front of Hachim Mastour with a stroke of fortune.

Not bad luck at all.

The goalkeeper had launched the attack directly from his own hands.

Leon's throwing ability was only rated at 7, but on this occasion it had landed precisely in the right direction, and once Leon's throwing attribute was upgraded higher, this kind of counter-attacking move could become a regular weapon.

Watson leapt to his feet up in the stands, eyes fixed firmly on the unfolding situation on the pitch.

Hachim Mastour brought the ball under control with ease, then continued driving forward at pace.

Leoia forward Yure Baso was making a lung-bursting run in support.

Because Leon had launched the move directly from the goalkeeper's position, it caught Athletic Club B completely off guard, and Leon's throw had bypassed Athletic Club B's entire midfield line in one motion, leaving Hachim Mastour facing the defensive line directly.

Leoia had suddenly created a two-versus-two situation in behind.

'He has to pass it.'

Yure Baso was already showing signs of shaking off the last defender.

If Hachim Mastour slipped the pass through in time, Yure Baso would be clean through on goal.

"Pass it!"

"Pass it now!"

"If you don't pass, you can forget about ever going back to Milan!"

Watson kept his eyes locked on Hachim Mastour as the words tumbled out of his mouth.

"Phew!"

"He's played it!"

Watson exhaled, and a look of relief spread across his face.

Out on the pitch, Hachim Mastour delivered a delicate, well-weighted through ball, showcasing his vision and creativity at their finest.

The pass found its way to Yure Baso's path as if guided precisely to the right spot.

'Leave it to me.'

Yure Baso pushed off hard with both legs, found another gear, and left marker Óscar Giri trailing behind him.

One-on-one!

"Bang!"

"Swoosh!"

Athletic Club B goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga was no Leon when it came to stopping a one-on-one, and Yure Baso's clean strike found the net before the keeper could make any kind of reaction.

"Goooooal!"

"Yure Baso scores a crucial goal for Leoia!"

"Ha, it seems not every goalkeeper can save a one-on-one after all!"

Commentator Mike's voice rang out with full passion once more.

Yure Baso and Hachim Mastour threw their arms around each other.

One assist, one goal.

The two of them then sprinted the entire length of the pitch and ran straight to Leon.

"Leon, that throw of yours was absolutely unreal!"

Hachim Mastour called out to Leon in excitement.

Leon hadn't registered a formal assist, but that throw which had sparked the entire move was the single most decisive moment in the build-up to the goal.

"Not bad."

Leon gave a calm, quiet smile and glanced up into the stands.

Every home supporter in the ground was roaring for their side.

On the touchline, head coach Burke Abel was leaping about in pure elation.

"The gamble paid off!"

"Yes!"

"It paid off!"

"Now hold on!"

"Hold firm!"

Burke Abel was hollering wildly on the touchline.

"He looks so cool."

Su Jing watched Leon's calm smile standing in contrast to the frenzy of his teammates all around him.

Quietly carrying the credit, never seeking the glory.
