Chapter 31 - Chapter 30: Happiness, Finally

It was a sunny weekend.

The kind of day that felt too peaceful to be ordinary—like the world had finally decided to give them a break.

Lina's family sat together in a small park, the grass warm beneath them, the sky wide and clear above. Her mother—fully recovered, her strength slowly returning—sat nearby with a soft smile, watching the scene unfold as if she were rediscovering something she had once thought lost.

Her brother ran across the field with a kite in hand, laughter spilling freely into the open air as the wind tugged at the colorful fabric above him.

And Lina—

She stood beside Adrian.

Their hands were gently intertwined, fingers laced together in a way that felt natural now. No hesitation. No distance. Just quiet certainty.

"You did all this," Adrian said softly, his voice low enough that only she could hear, his gaze briefly shifting toward her mother and brother.

Lina followed his look, her expression softening as she took in the scene.

The laughter.

The lightness.

The peace.

"We did," she corrected gently.

He glanced at her then, something warm and steady in his eyes. Something that hadn't always been there—but had grown over time, shaped by everything they had endured together.

"Yes," he admitted, a small smile forming. "You and I… together, we can do anything."

The words settled into her chest, warm and grounding.

Her heart swelled—not with uncertainty, not with doubt, but with something deeper.

Something solid.

For the first time, she didn't feel like she was carrying everything alone.

For the first time, she felt equal.

Strong.

Loved.

Not because someone completed her—but because someone stood beside her.

As equals.

As partners.

As something more.

They stood there quietly, letting the moment unfold around them, neither rushing to speak, neither needing to.

The world continued its gentle rhythm.

Her brother's laughter carried across the park as he adjusted the kite, chasing the wind with determination. Her mother watched, smiling—truly smiling, the kind that reached her eyes and lingered.

And beside Lina—

Adrian stayed.

Not stepping ahead.

Not stepping back.

Just there.

With her.

In the simplicity of the moment, there was no chaos to fight, no headlines to escape, no tension to resolve.

Only life.

Only warmth.

Only everything they had worked so hard to build.

Lina leaned slightly into him, her presence soft but certain.

And Adrian responded without thinking—his arm subtly drawing her closer, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

Because it was.

And as the sun cast its light over them, painting everything in gold and calm—

they stood together in a moment that didn't need to be earned.

Didn't need to be fixed.

Didn't need to be fought for.

Just lived.

And in that simple, perfect moment—

everything was exactly as it should be. ☀️
