Chapter 15 - What Does Our Names Means?

"Oh? For me it would be no problem at all if I tried to lift something like that," Shion added in a calm and impressed tone while she stood there watching closely how I was holding the extremely large and heavy-looking throne up high above us with my tentacles. "But very few beings around here can lift such an incredible weight without any kind of magical assistance to help them out. Well done on managing it so easily."

"Really? It doesn't really weigh much to me at all though, even though it looks huge," I replied back while casually wobbling the massive stone seat a little from side to side to show how easy it felt. "It's as light as a bag of clothes that someone just tossed around without any effort."

Okay, I didn't feel happy about Shion basically calling me Superman, like I was some kind of super strong hero, I swear!

No, I meant that literally and exactly; the moment I wanted to feel validated and good about the compliment, the heavy emotion drain came.

Suddenly, I was feeling calm again, instead of excited.

Damn emotion nullification, making me even less human with every passing moment...

I should find a way to resist or calm down the effect somehow, or I will become no different from the cold magical system I'm trying to deceive right now with this plan.

Okay, we're all set and ready to go;

Shion is safely under the stone throne now, making sure that no physical part of her body is visible or sticking out from any side where the enchantment might notice her.

We got this!

*

Of course, it all went out in smokes and completely fell apart, the whole plan.

Why am I even surprised that it didn't work out the way I hoped?

It's not a motion sensor or some kind of physical tech that you can easily pull the wool over with a simple trick.

This is magical spiritual stuff that works on a much deeper level than normal things.

The moment we snuck carefully toward the invisible barrier together with the throne held high, I passed through again smoothly with the seat like it was nothing.

However, Shion bumped her head straight into the invisible wall once more with a dull sound.

Pfft. I'm not laughing.

Okay, I won't lie about it; the way she pouted a little from the magical rebound that pushed her forehead back gently was hella cute in a way that made me want to smile.

"Why are you grinning like that right now?!" She lashed out at me with an annoyed voice as I came walking back into the sealed area after the failed attempt. "Does my suffering please you that much and make you happy?"

"No, no, it's not like that at all," I waved my hands quickly in front of me, still grinning a wide smile on my grey face without being able to stop it completely. "I thought you looked cute there for a second when you bumped your head."

"Silence right now!" She roared back at me with more force in her voice.

But the small tiny hint of red that appeared on her cheeks suggested she wasn't an unbreakable wall and that the words had affected her a bit.

Okay, I have ended up embarrassing myself before my parent twice in a short time now with these silly attempts at prison break.

And I already swore to take her with me in a burst of arrogance and confidence earlier...

How do I actually get her out of here without messing up again...?

"Just leave the matter alone for now, Kivuli-Maji..." Shion whispered in clear defeat, her voice sounding tired as she took back the throne from me.

Her hands grabbed it and set it back down in its original position, before dropping herself onto it heavily.

Oh, yeah.

Kivuli is my new name now.

I better not forget that important detail or let it slip from my mind.

Shion's face was now getting visibly distraught and upset, unlike the calmer look she had before.

I basically gave her real hope where there was none left earlier, and now it was all crashing down.

And also, guilt was eating at me from the inside... Just as the emotion nullification eats it right back and pushed the feeling away almost immediately.

...Oh...? Speaking of eating...

"Shion..." I called her name again softly as I jogged over quickly to her position near the throne.

"Tsk. You refuse to desist from calling me this Shion name like it is already final?" She glared at me with narrowed eyes, as her head was held up by her hand resting on the seat. "What does Shion even mean in the first place?"

"No way, I'm not telling you just yet," I teased her with a playful tone in my childish voice. "Not until you tell me first what Kivuli-Maji actually means and where it comes from."

After much pestering and repeated asking from me without giving up, she finally clicked her tongue in annoyance and explained the meaning properly;

Kivuli-Maji meant something along the lines of Shadow water, or more precisely the Shadow of the Water.

She said it came from an ancient language that belonged to a tribe somewhere in this world, and seeing my grey form moving around reminded her strongly of the name when she first thought of it.

"Really? I thought it sounded Swahili somehow when I heard it, but okay, that makes sense now," I agreed after listening, and then I decided to tell her what her new name actually meant in return.

As if instinctively, I moved closer to her leg as she sat there on the throne.

It was still quite taller than me even when I stood right next to it, so I laid one of my small hands gently on it for a moment.

"Shion in my world actually means purple..." I started explaining slowly while looking up at her.
