Lira and Mira ran until their legs felt like fire. The purple rain had turned the forest path into slippery mud. Every step was hard, but they could not slow down.
Mira looked back for the tenth time. "They are still coming! More shadow beasts every minute! And Kai… he keeps touching things and getting new powers!"
Lira's breathing was heavy. "The Breaker camp is very close now. Just past that big twisted tree. Hold on, Mira."
Behind them, Kai walked like a ruler who owned the forest.
His dark armor had grown thicker. Purple light leaked from the joints. A small crown made of shadows floated above his head. Every few steps, another shadow beast ran up to him carrying something new — a dying animal, a wounded hunter, or a glowing Veil piece.
Kai's hand moved without him wanting it to.

A new surge of power made his feet slide smoothly over the wet ground. The king voice spoke with satisfaction. "The land itself serves me now."
Inside his head, the real Kai was barely a whisper.
"Stop collecting… I don't want any more…"
But the king only laughed softly. "You had your chance, boy. Now we grow."
Mira made another card from the smoke of a destroyed beast.
"Slippery Mud Card!"
She threw it behind them. The ground turned extra slippery and two shadow beasts fell.
"Good one!" Lira said. "Keep collecting cards. We may need every bit of power when we reach the camp."
They finally saw it — a huge rock wall covered in thick glowing vines. Lira touched a hidden spot with her silver threads. The vines moved like living snakes and revealed a heavy metal gate.
The gate opened with a low groan.
They rushed inside and slammed it shut behind them.
The Breaker camp was bigger than they expected. Old stone buildings stood in a circle. Blue runes glowed on every wall. A tall tower in the center had a big crystal that pulsed with soft light. About thirty people in simple gray robes moved around quickly.
An old man with long white hair and sharp eyes walked toward them. His name was Elder Voss. He carried a wooden staff covered in silver threads.
"What is happening?" he asked in a calm but urgent voice.
Lira spoke fast while catching her breath. "Elder, our friend Kai has the Fractured Echo Weaver power. He took the tenth Echo — the Alpha Shadow King. Now a god fragment called Nyxar controls him. He has become the Shadow King. He is outside with an army of shadow beasts and he keeps collecting more Echoes every minute."
Mira added quickly, "He is not the funny Kai anymore! His voice is all royal and scary. But sometimes the real Kai breaks through for a second."
Elder Voss's face became very serious. "The tenth Echo… he crossed the limit. That is dangerous. Bring him inside the sealing circle if you can. We have ancient stones that can weaken god fragments and pull Echoes apart. But we must act fast before the god takes him completely."
While they talked, Kai — the Shadow King — reached the gate.
He stood calmly in the rain. His purple eyes glowed. The dark armor looked even stronger now.
He raised one hand and touched a dying shadow beast that had just returned to him.

The king smiled. "Useful."
He slammed his fist against the metal gate. The runes on the wall shook and small cracks appeared.
Inside the camp, everyone felt the impact.
Mira jumped. "He is getting stronger so fast!"
Lira stepped closer to the gate and called out loudly.
"Kai! Listen to my voice! Remember when we first met after your first Echo. You sounded like a rich snob and asked for wine in the middle of a fight. We laughed so much. That is the real you! Not this king!"
For a moment, the purple light in Kai's eyes flickered.
The real Kai's voice broke through, weak but clear.
"Lira… I remember… the voices are too loud… help me… I am still here…"
Mira shouted too. "Kai! Come back! I want to make funny voice cards again! Snob Kai card, Fighter Kai card, not this scary Shadow King card!"
The flicker lasted longer this time.
Elder Voss quickly started drawing a large sealing circle on the ground with glowing chalk. Other elders joined him, placing old stones around the circle.
"We need him inside the circle," Elder Voss said. "Keep talking to the real Kai. The more he fights, the weaker the god becomes."
But then came the twist.
One of the younger breakers — a man named Torin with short black hair , stepped forward. He had been listening quietly.
Torin suddenly smiled in a strange way. "Elder, perhaps we should let the Shadow King in. Think about it. If he joins us, his power could help us fight the other gods. We could use him as a weapon."
Lira turned to him in shock. "What are you saying? He is our friend! We want to save him, not use him!"
Torin's eyes glowed with a faint purple light ,the same color as Nyxar.
"Who said I want to save him? The gods have spoken to me too. Nyxar promised me power if I help bring the vessel here."
Before anyone could react, Torin raised his hand and sent a wave of dark energy at the gate.
The runes cracked loudly.
The gate started to open by itself.
Mira threw her new cards fast. "Traitor!"
Her cards exploded near Torin, but he dodged with surprising speed.
Elder Voss shouted, "Torin! You have been corrupted!"
Torin laughed. "Corrupted? I was chosen. The Shadow King is coming, and he will reward those who help him."
Outside, the Shadow King watched with a cold smile.
He touched another dying beast that his minions brought.

**Name: Traitor Sense**
**Skills: Detect hidden betrayal**
The king laughed. "Interesting. There are already allies inside."
He slammed the gate again. The metal bent.
Lira and Mira fought back to back with the loyal breakers.
Mira kept making new cards from every destroyed shadow beast.
"Betrayal Card!"
"Sealing Boost Card!"
She threw them to strengthen the runes and slow Torin.
Lira used all her remaining strength to send silver threads at Torin, trying to tie him down.
But Torin was faster now. He had clearly received power from Nyxar too.
The gate was almost fully open.
Kai the Shadow King took one step forward.
His purple eyes looked straight at Lira.
For one short moment, the real Kai broke through again.
His real voice came out, full of pain.
"Lira… Mira… run… the camp is not safe… Torin… he is working with Nyxar… I can feel it… save yourselves…"
Then the king took control again. "Enough."
He raised both hands.
Shadows poured through the opening gate like a black river.
The real fight for Kai's soul and the camp had just begun.
Elder Voss shouted, "Everyone to the sealing circle! We must finish the ritual before he enters!"
Mira looked at the growing army of shadows and the traitor Torin with tears in her eyes.
"Kai… please fight harder…"
The purple rain fell heavier.
The biggest Veil Quake was about to start.
And inside Kai, the last small piece of the original game tester was still fighting with everything he had left.
