Chapter 35: Conqueror's Haki
Smoker's collapse seemed to trigger a massive chain reaction. One after another, the pub's patrons, the waitstaff, and even the bartender slumped over, frothing at the mouth as they completely lost consciousness.
No, it wasn't just happening in that pub.
In reality, the streets outside, the town square, the city hall, the harbor...
Every corner of the island was being swept by an invisible pressure—a force so violent, powerful, terrifying, and overwhelming that it defied reason.
Whether they were ordinary pedestrians or Marines, merchants or pirates, everyone without exception collapsed under the weight of this strike, hitting the ground one by one.
It was as if all of Loguetown had been struck by a giant pause button, instantly falling into a deathly silence.
Only three people managed to remain conscious: Kazuma Yumesaki, Hashirama, and Robin.
Taking in the miserable state of their surroundings, Robin's eyes flickered with a mix of shock and uncertainty. "Lord Yumesaki... was that the awakening of Conqueror's Haki?" she asked, her voice trembling slightly.
In her memory, only Conqueror's Haki—the Haoshoku—possessed the power to knock people out en masse like this.
But there was a problem. When Yumesaki released that burst of energy just now, she had been sitting right next to him, yet she hadn't felt even a hint of pressure from it.
Logically speaking, Conqueror's Haki shouldn't be able to distinguish between friend and foe.
Yet, Yumesaki's power had left her completely unharmed, leaving Robin unable to confirm for a moment whether he had truly awakened the legendary Haki.
Truth be told, it wasn't just Nico Robin; Yumesaki himself was utterly bewildered.
I awakened Conqueror's Haki?
I'm not even from the One Piece world. How is it possible for me to awaken Haki?
This is completely unscientific.
While the people of the One Piece world were human, they were fundamentally different from the people of Earth—much like how the human cells in the Naruto world were several times more numerous than those of an average Earthling.
Take the Three Admirals, for example.
Kizaru stood at 302 cm, Akainu at 306 cm, and Aokiji at 298 cm.
What human on Earth could grow that tall? Even with an overdose of growth hormones, it was physically impossible. It defied the laws of human development.
And the Yonko were even more exaggerated than the Admirals.
Among the Four Emperors, aside from Kaido who belonged to the Oni Race, Shanks, Big Mom, and Whitebeard were all supposedly pure humans.
Yet, of those three, only Shanks had a somewhat normal height of 199 cm—actually resembling a regular person.
Meanwhile, Whitebeard towered at 666 cm, and "Big Mom" Charlotte Linlin reached a staggering 880 cm.
Could you even call those "humans"?
If they were humans, then what were the people of Earth? Goblins? Gnomes?
In short, from Yumesaki's perspective, the gap between Earthlings and the people of the One Piece world was so vast that Haki—something inherent to the biology of that world—should have been impossible for a person from Earth to manifest.
And yet, Yumesaki had just done it.
Not only that, he had awakened the Conqueror's Haki—the rarest and most difficult of the three types to manifest. It made absolutely no sense.
After a moment of shared confusion, the group walked out of the pub. Seeing the pedestrians strewn across the road as far as the eye could see, it was essentially confirmed: Yumesaki had indeed awakened Conqueror's Haki.
Only this specific type of Haki could produce such a devastating effect.
Carefully stepping around the crowd lying on the ground, Robin remarked, "This is the first time I've ever seen Conqueror's Haki that can distinguish between ally and enemy. Lord Yumesaki, you truly are different from anyone else."
Even a peak-level Haki master like Red-Haired Shanks couldn't pull off a feat that precise.
Yumesaki waved his hand dismissively. "Don't ask me. I'm just as confused as you are. How I managed to awaken Haki is a complete mystery to me. It's totally unscientific."
"Why don't we go back and see Tsunade and the others for a check-up?" Robin suggested. "Maybe they can provide a logical explanation."
Yumesaki hummed in thought for a second before nodding. "That's not a bad idea."
With that decided, the group returned to the ship's cabin, stepped through one of the doors at random, and crossed back into the world of Naruto.
They emerged back at Orochimaru's secret base.
Yumesaki immediately called the others out of the laboratory, interrupting their ongoing experiments.
Initially, they were quite reluctant to leave, as their research was progressing smoothly.
However, the moment they heard that Yumesaki had awakened Conqueror's Haki, their interest was piqued instantly.
"You really awakened Conqueror's Haki?" Tsunade asked, pacing around Yumesaki and inspecting him. No matter how she looked at him, he just seemed like an ordinary person. Could someone like him really manifest such power?
"It seems so," Yumesaki nodded.
"What do you mean, 'it seems so'?"
"Because I'm not entirely sure if what I awakened is actually Haki or something else. After all, I'm from Earth. Logically, it should be impossible for me to awaken Haki."
Orochimaru spoke up with an intrigued glint in his eyes. "If Lord Yumesaki doesn't mind, could you release this Conqueror's Haki so we can experience the power for ourselves?"
"Sure."
Yumesaki nodded, his gaze sharpening. Instantly, sparks of red-black electricity erupted around him. A colossal, invisible pressure—fierce, terrifying, and violent—roared outward like a landslide or a tsunami.
Everyone present suddenly felt a weight as heavy as a mountain crashing down upon them.
The pressure didn't just weigh on their minds; even their physical bodies were subjected to an unimaginable force.
The floor beneath their feet shattered in an instant, and jagged cracks spiderwebbed across the walls.
This sight left Robin, who was standing right next to him, even more stunned.
While Conqueror's Haki was fearsome, most people's Haki didn't actually interfere with the physical world. Only truly top-tier Conqueror's Haki was capable of causing physical damage to solid objects.
This feat alone was enough to prove that Yumesaki's Haki was on par with Shanks'—perhaps even a step beyond.
It was utterly absurd.
"That's enough! That's enough!"
Orochimaru, feeling the raw intensity of the Haki, shouted out. In the face of such overwhelming power, his mind had actually gone blank for a split second.
Though his consciousness recovered quickly, in a real battle, that momentary lapse would have been enough for him to die a dozen times over.
Tsunade felt the exact same way.
Tobirama, however, had it the worst. When the Haki exploded, he felt his very soul endure an unprecedented level of pressure. Even his Edo Tensei body began to destabilize.
If he hadn't focused on reinforcing his soul immediately, he might have been forcibly sent back to the Pure Land.
Without a doubt, this type of power was the natural enemy of the Edo Tensei.
Once Yumesaki stopped releasing the Haki, everyone breathed a collective sigh of relief.
"Such intense pressure... my clothes are soaked through," Tsunade muttered, tugging at her damp shirt with an annoyed expression.
To her, those few seconds felt like they had lasted for days. The cold sweat just wouldn't stop.
"Judging by the manifestation, that was indeed Conqueror's Haki—and one capable of damaging physical matter at that."
Tobirama's eyes narrowed thoughtfully. "As for why you were able to awaken it, I have two theories."
Yumesaki asked curiously, "Which two theories?"
