Chapter 35 - Victory Written in Blood

The collision split the battlefield in two.

A blinding flash of energy erupted where Kael and Veyron met, tearing the earth apart like fragile glass. The shockwave blasted outward in all directions, flattening trees, shattering stone, and throwing soldiers off their feet.

For a moment—

There was no sound.

Only light.

Then the world roared back to life.

Dust swallowed the battlefield.Debris rained from the sky.The ground trembled violently beneath collapsing cracks.

At the center of the destruction—

Two figures stood locked in combat.

CLANG!

Steel met energy.

Sparks exploded into the air as Veyron's blade slammed against Kael's glowing arm. The force drove Kael backward several meters, his boots carving deep trenches into the broken earth.

Pain surged through his body.

Every bone screamed.

Every muscle burned.

But he refused to fall.

[Body Integrity — 48%]

The system warning echoed in his mind.

Time was running out.

Veyron advanced relentlessly.

His movements were precise.

Efficient.

Merciless.

Each strike carried the weight of years of battle experience — controlled, disciplined, unstoppable.

CLANG!CLANG!CLANG!

Three consecutive strikes.

Each one faster than the last.

Kael barely kept up.

His arms trembled under the pressure.

Blood dripped from his fingertips.

His breathing became ragged.

"You've grown strong," Veyron said calmly as he attacked again."Stronger than any recruit I've ever seen."

Another strike.

Kael blocked.

Barely.

The impact sent a violent shock through his spine.

"But strength alone," the general continued, voice cold and steady,"is not enough to win a war."

Veyron suddenly shifted his stance.

Subtle.

Precise.

Deadly.

Kael didn't recognize it.

Not until it was too late.

The general vanished.

Not forward.

Not backward.

Sideways.

A blur of motion.

A flash of steel.

SLASH.

Kael froze.

His body stiffened.

His breath caught in his throat.

A deep wound opened across his side.

Blood spilled instantly.

Hot.

Heavy.

Unstoppable.

[Body Integrity — 31%][Critical State Detected]

His legs buckled.

He dropped to one knee.

The world tilted sideways.

Vision fading.

Strength slipping.

Veyron stepped back slowly.

Calm.

Unshaken.

Certain of victory.

"It ends here," the general said quietly.

He raised his sword high above his head.

Dark energy gathered along the blade, swirling violently.

The air grew heavy.

Oppressive.

Final.

Kael tried to stand.

His muscles refused.

Pain consumed everything.

The battlefield blurred.

Sound faded.

Strength vanished.

This was defeat.

Memories flooded his mind.

Cold nights.

Empty stomach.

Lonely streets.

The endless struggle to survive.

To endure.

To become stronger.

To prove that someone born with nothing could still rise.

His fingers dug into the dirt.

Weak.

Shaking.

But refusing to let go.

A whisper echoed deep inside him.

Not the system.

Not the battlefield.

Something older.

Something deeper.

Stand.

Kael's breathing slowed.

Steady.

Focused.

Controlled.

The storm above responded.

Clouds twisted violently.

Lightning flickered across the dark sky.

Wind surged around him.

Veyron frowned.

For the first time—

He sensed danger.

Kael lifted his head.

Blood covered his face.

His eyes burned with fierce, unbreakable resolve.

"I didn't come this far…" he whispered.

His voice was hoarse.

Weak.

But filled with iron determination.

"…to fall here."

The ground beneath him cracked.

Energy surged through his body again.

Stronger.

Sharper.

More controlled.

The system voice returned.

Cold.

Precise.

Unyielding.

[Emergency Protocol Activated][New Skill Unlocked][Skill: Abyssal Surge — Phase Two][Power Output: 520%]

Silence fell across the battlefield.

Even the wind stopped.

Kael stood.

Slowly.

Unsteadily.

But completely upright.

Dark energy gathered around his body, forming a swirling vortex of power. Lightning danced across his skin. The air trembled with pressure.

His presence had changed.

Not reckless.

Not unstable.

Focused.

Deadly.

Veyron lowered his sword slightly.

Shock flickered across his face.

"Impossible," he muttered.

Kael stepped forward.

The ground shattered beneath his foot.

One step.

The storm roared louder.

Second step.

The air grew heavier.

Third step.

Fear spread through the battlefield.

Then—

He disappeared.

Not slowly.

Not visibly.

Instantly.

Veyron's eyes widened.

Too late.

Kael reappeared directly in front of him.

Closer than ever before.

Faster than any movement before.

Stronger than any strike before.

He drew back his fist.

Energy condensed around it.

Dense.

Violent.

Unstoppable.

For a brief moment—

Time seemed to freeze.

Veyron understood.

This was the final blow.

He raised his sword to block.

But his instincts screamed the truth.

He was too slow.

Kael's fist moved.

BOOM.

The impact detonated like thunder.

A massive explosion of energy erupted across the battlefield, blasting debris into the sky and carving a deep crater into the earth.

The shockwave rolled outward for hundreds of meters.

Dust filled the air.

Silence followed.

Seconds passed.

Slow.

Heavy.

Uncertain.

Then—

The dust began to settle.

At the center of the crater—

Two figures stood.

One upright.

One collapsing.

General Veyron dropped to his knees.

His sword slipped from his hand.

The metal struck the ground with a dull, hollow sound.

His armor was cracked.

His breathing was shallow.

His strength was gone.

He looked up at Kael.

Not with anger.

Not with hatred.

But with respect.

"You…" Veyron said weakly.

A faint smile touched his lips.

"You've surpassed me."

His body fell forward.

Motionless.

Defeated.

Silence spread across the battlefield.

No one moved.

No one spoke.

No one breathed.

Then—

The system voice echoed once more.

[Enemy Defeated][Major Victory Achieved][Level Up — +3 Levels][New Title Unlocked: Legion Breaker]

Kael stared at the fallen general.

His chest rose and fell heavily.

Victory.

At last.

Then—

His vision darkened.

Strength vanished.

The energy around him collapsed instantly.

His legs gave out.

He fell.

The storm above slowly faded.

The battlefield grew quiet.

And as darkness closed in—

Only one thought remained in his fading consciousness.

This victory came with a price.
