Chapter 66 - Insect Sea Tactics

It must be said that the Imperial Army Fleet's quality is quite high. After Captain Victoria Shaw issued the order, thirty starships withdrew from the battlefield at the fastest speed, maintaining a very safe evacuation formation during their retreat. The T2 Guardian-class Medium Interstellar Frigate had been providing cover from the rear, just in case.

However, the 'just in case' they worried about did not happen.

One hundred T2 Killer Bee-class Medium Interstellar Drones, covering twenty T2 Bumblebee-class Heavy Interstellar Drones, approached the attacking Zerg Swarm. The one hundred T2 Killer Bee-class Medium Interstellar Drones immediately used their autocannons and missiles to attack the bugs, blowing them to pieces in vast numbers. At the same time, the twenty T2 Bumblebee-class Heavy Interstellar Drones deployed pre-set time bombs, and then all Interstellar Drones retreated.

The bugs naturally wouldn't let go of these prey in front of them, sweeping toward them like a black tide. Just as the Zerg Swarm was giving chase, the time bombs exploded one by one, forming a 'firepower net'. This caused the pursuing bugs to be disoriented and scattered.

Zachary Chase sat in the captain's chair, looking at the battlefield scene magnified before him using a deep-space telescope. Although he had learned about the Interstellar Zerg in the textbooks of the North Starship Military Academy, truly seeing their combat style with his own eyes still gave him a sense of shock and made his heart tremble. Especially for those with trypophobia, seeing the scene before them would likely cause them to collapse on the spot.

The Interstellar Zerg's combat style is quite unique.

The Zerg Hive Mothership is large, belonging to a type of biological starship. However, its mobility is average, and its primary combat weapons, such as biological plasma cannons and biological torpedoes, actually offer no significant advantage compared to starships of the same class. But its unique tribal structure gives it a specialized combat style and tactics: the Insect Sea Tactic!

A T1 Zerg Hive Mothership will have about ten thousand T1 Flying Bugs. And a T2 Zerg Nest Mothership will have one hundred thousand T1 Flying Bugs and one thousand T2 Hydralisks.

Flying Bugs and Hydralisks are the Zerg Hive Mothership's worker units. The former somewhat resembles a winged mantis, about the size of a person, and only possesses close-combat abilities. The latter is a long snake with bug features, only a person's height but nearly ten meters long, capable of spraying highly corrosive acid at close range.

They can all survive and fight in the cosmic environment away from the Zerg Hive Mothership, and their movement speed is extremely swift! Among the same class, besides the Interstellar Frigate, whose speed can barely match theirs, the speed of all other starships is inferior to them! These units are commonly referred to as 'bugs'.

Although these Zerg worker units are classified as T1 and T2, their true combat power is actually far from that level. For example, when a T2 Hydralisk battles a T2 Bumblebee-class Heavy Interstellar Drone, the T2 Bumblebee can easily crush it!

However!

When these bugs attack you, it won't be just one, ten, or a hundred; thousands will swarm you like a tide. Unless you can eliminate all of them, as long as some bugs bite onto your hull and penetrate it, then almost all the interstellar warriors inside that starship will suffer! Moreover, these bugs feel no fear; they are only driven by instinct and the Zerg Hive Mothership's commands! They will attack their target one after another!

This combat style, to some extent, is similar to an Aircraft Carrier Starship. Those bugs are the Zerg Hive Mothership's Interstellar Fighters.

"Report, all T2 Bumblebee-class Heavy Interstellar Drones and T2 Killer Bee-class Medium Interstellar Drones in the first echelon have completed their bombing runs and are preparing to return to base," Lilith said from the side.

"Have these Bumblebees and Killer Bees complete their landing and resupply as quickly as possible, and prepare for the second echelon's attack. At the same time, deploy three hundred T2 Young Bee-class Light Interstellar Drones in three staggered echelons," Zachary ordered.

"Yes," Lilith began to relay the commander's orders.

The Imperial Army fleet, which had been worried about whether the Interstellar Drones could withstand the bugs, was now surprised by the performance of these Interstellar Drones.

"The combat power of these Interstellar Drones is even comparable to Interstellar Fighters of the same class!" Captain Victoria Shaw exclaimed with admiration.

Commander Elena Vance also saw the Aircraft Carrier Starship at this moment; its hull was painted yellow and black, and its appearance resembled a type of insect, sharing a striking similarity with the Interstellar Zerg on the opposing side.

"What kind of Aircraft Carrier Starship is this? I've never seen it before." Commander Vance pulled up the starship database and scanned the image of the Aircraft Carrier Starship, but received no records. "There's no record of it in our database," she said in surprise.

Captain Shaw looked at the Aircraft Carrier Starship, recalling what that man had said, and she whispered with a solemn expression, "I hope that commander can truly turn the tide of the battle."

Commander Vance thought to herself: How can two mere starships do that? Unless they were two T3 starships, then maybe.

"Oh, wait, weren't there two starships? Why is there only one Aircraft Carrier Starship here? Where's the other starship?" Commander Vance suddenly said in surprise, while looking at the starship radar. There was no energy signal for a second starship on it. Where was that starship?

P331 Asteroid

Dozens of T2 Seahorse-class Medium Interstellar Transport Ships were suspended above the asteroid, and airships were continuously evacuating civilians to the Interstellar Transport Ships.

"This is great! You're finally here." The Planetary Governor looked at the fleet commander of the transport ship fleet before him, almost in tears.

"We are also on a mission; please arrange for the personnel to evacuate quickly. Time is urgent; once the Interstellar Zerg approaches within the alert range, we must withdraw!" The fleet commander forced a smile.

"Good, good, good! We will definitely evacuate as quickly as possible. Two hours! No! We will complete the evacuation mission within an hour and a half!" The Planetary Governor guaranteed with conviction.

"In short, the sooner the better!" The transport ship fleet commander said impatiently.

It wasn't that he wanted to come; a bunch of crazy people forced him to come with starship cannons. Since he was here now, he could only honestly carry out the mission of evacuating the civilians. He only hoped that the hateful man could hold on a little longer so that they could evacuate safely and smoothly.

But in his dark thoughts, he also hoped that man and his damned starship would be fed to the bugs on the distant battlefield!

"It's best if they're fed to the bugs after we successfully evacuate! Yes! Just like that!" He cursed in his heart.
