Dikshita gasped, grabbing Ashi's arm as small particles fell from above.
Then-
Nothing.
No chaos. No shouting.
Just silence again.
Before the broken grill could crash to the ground , it stopped mid-air… as if caught by something unseen. A shadow slipped through the opening and landed without a sound , as if the explosion had never happened.
The girls started shouting out of fear.
The dim light flickered , revealing a person wearing matte black mask – no face , only eyes. A thin red laser cut through the darkness , scanning the door , the corner , every possible threat….then vanished instantly.
He said, his voice low , calm and controlled, "Don't make a noise".
He explained , "I don't have time to explain , just know that I'm here to protect you".
Distant footsteps echoed from the corridor.
He stated in quick , "There is a vent passage- you'll fit".
Dikshita hesitated, whispering , "Why should we trust you?"
He didn't argue , didn't even look at her. "If I wanted to hurt you… you wouldn't have survived that".
He said , "Go and hide". He stepped back into the shadows, almost disappearing. His voice dropped to a murmur almost to himself , "That blast…they definitely heard it".
The distant echo of footsteps shattered the silence.
Within moments, the goons stormed in , their boots thudding harshly against the ground.
"Damn it!" one of them hissed , scanning the area with frustration. "They ran away."
Another scoffed , his voice edged with irritation. "Run all they want…they're not that smart. We'll find them in minutes".
Hidden inside the narrow vent passage , Ashi and Dikshita held their breath.
Dikshita let out a faint , nervous chuckle. "They can't even imagine we're hiding right here in this room…"
Ashi shot her a sharp look , her voice dropping to a warning whisper. "Don't you dare say another word. I'm already scared enough…and where is that crazy man now?"
Dikshita tilted her head slightly , curiosity flickering in her eyes.
"And yes…where is your 'Crazy man'? And what's his actual name?"
Frustration snapped inside Ashi.
"Where are you crazy man!?" she burst out , her voice rising despite herself.
"Shh!" Dikshita urged immediately , panic creeping in. "Don't shout! If they hear us , we're done in minutes!".
Ashi clenched her fists , exhaustion overtaking fear. "Let them come" she muttered bitterly. "I'm tired of all this".
Then-
A voice emerged from the Shadows, calm…almost amused.
" Are you calling me a crazy man?"
Both of them froze.
Dikshita's breath hitched as she looked around anxiously .
" W-Who…who are you?"
Ashi, however, straightened slightly, a flicker of recognition in her eyes.
"Damn…I knew it. It's him."
Before they could react further, a figure appeared and swiftly guided them out of the passage.
Dikshita smirked faintly, glancing at Ashi.
"Ahem…we can't even see his face, yet you recognize him just by his voice?"
Ashi responded with a visibly annoyed expression.
The stranger let out a quite sign. "Can you stop calling me 'crazy man'?" he said, his tone calm but firm. "I'm here to save you."
Ashi crossed her arms slightly, still cautious. "We don't even know anything about you…At least tell us what we should call you."
He shrugged lightly, unfazed. "Call me whatever you want."
Dikshita's eyes lit up with sudden excitement. "Ashi… we should call him shadow hunk."
Ashi raised an eyebrow, clearly unimpressed. "Seriously? That name?"
Before the banter could continue, he interrupted, his tone sharpening just a little. "If your discussion is over…I'd like to tell you your next move."
Both of them exchanged a quick glance before replying in unison- "yeah."
Shadow Hunk's gaze shifted toward Ashi, sharp and observant. "And why were you in such a hurry that you started shouting?" he asked, his voice steady.
Ashi hesitated, her confidence slipping. "Um…I'm sorry. It won't happen again," she murmured quietly.
He studied her for a brief moment, then exhale softly. "It's fine," he replied, calm yet authoritative. "But next time…think before you move…and before you act."
Shadow Hunk's voice turned serious, his tone edged with urgency. "We need to act strategically," he stated, his eyes scanning the surrounding. "There are many lives at stake….and I intend to save them all."
Without wasting another second, he guided them swiftly through hidden paths, moving like a shadow itself- unseen, unheard.
Within minute, they arrived at his secret hideout, far from danger.
Ashi glanced around, still catching her breath. "We'll stay here for now," she murmured.
Dikshita stepped forward, her voice filled with relief. "Thank you so much, Shadow Hunk…you have no idea how scared we were. Even though weren't there for long, it felt unbearable. I almost lost myself in fear."
Shadow Hunk shook his head slightly, his expression calm yet firm. "you don't need to thank me," he replied. "It's my duty to protect you…and the people of Vyantara."
He paused for a moment before continuing- "For now, you both stay here. I'll be gone for two to three hours. There's food and water here- take care of yourselves."
Before either of them could respond-
He was gone.
Vanished…like a shadow dissolving into darkness.
Dikshita blinked, still staring at the empty space. "Why is he this mysterious?" she wondered aloud.
Ashi let out a soft laugh, shaking her head. "God knows."
Minutes passed.
The silence grew heavier-
Until suddenly-
A faint movement disturbed the stillness.
And just like that…
Shadow Hunk reappeared.
This time, his presence felt different- sharper more intense.
"They've shifted locations," he said, his voice low and precise. "And they're not alone."
Ashi frowned. "You're going back there…aren't you."
He didn't answer immediately.
Instead, he stepped closer, his gaze steady.
"I've already mapped their movements," he revealed. "I never move without knowing the battlefield."
Dikshita looked confused. "Mapped…how?"
A faint smirk crossed his face.
"Let's just say… they've been under my watch for longer than they realize."
Moments later-
From a distance, the hideout overlooked a dimly lit building.
Shadow Hunk observed it silently.
Then-
The light inside flickered… and went out completely.
Chaos erupted.
"Check outside" one of the goons shouted.
Exactly as planned.
While they scattered in confusion-
A shadow descended from above.
Silent. Precise. Unseen.
One by one, the guards were taken down before they could even react.
No noise.
No warning.
Within minutes, he reached a locked room.
Inside-
Children huddled together, fear written all over their faces.
Shadow Hunk stepped forward, his voice softening. "Don't be afraid…you're safe now."
At the same time, he pressed a small device. "Location confirmed. Move in."
Outside- Sirens began to echo through the night.
The remaining goons froze.
"What's happening-!?"
Before panic could turn into escape-
The light came back on.
And there he stood.
Shadow Hunk.
Unshaken. Unstoppable.
"Game's over."
Within seconds-
Police stormed in, surrounding the building from all sides.
There was no escape.
The goons were arrested.
The children were saved.
And just that-
It was over.
Before he could fade into shadows-
Flashes erupted around him.
Voice overlapped, questions thrown from every direction.
"Who are you!?"
"Tell us your name!"
For a moment, he stood still…untouched by the chaos.
Then-
"You want a name?" he said calmly
A brief pause.
" Call me… Shadow Hunk."
Whispers spread instantly.
" Why do you cover your face with a mask?" someone ask.
He turned slightly, his voice low and composed.
" I can't answer this question."
A police officer stepped forward.
"Are you working for someone"
He stopped.
"I work alone."
And in the next second-
He was gone.
Far from the Chaos-
On a quiet rooftop-
He landed silently.
For a moment, Everything was still.
Then-
A soft voice broke the silence.
"You finally chose a name."
His eyes narrowed instantly.
He turned but no one was there.
"Who are you?" he asked, his voice sharp.
A faint, almost playful laugh echoed in the air.
"You didn't recognize me?"
Silence.
Then, her voice again-
Closer this time.
"That's disappointing… Shadow Hunk."
A pause.
"I thought you did recognize me."
The wind passed through the empty rooftop.
But this time-
He didn't move.
His expression changed.
